I've been on the fence since watching Rebellion. On the one hand, Homura obviously genuinely loves Madoka and everything she does is out of a desire to see her not-girlfriend happy. On the other hand, she's fucking crazy and is absolutely willing to fuck up literally everything for that end goal. She's a borderline psychopath in her pursuit of Madoka's safety and happiness. That girl would shoot a starving puppy between the eyes if she thought it might interfere. And what she does at the end probably constitutes abuse, since she's confining Madoka against her will. Her love is obsessive and unhealthy, however genuine it is. Her heart was more or less in the right place but she did so much wrong because it overflowed to the point where she ignored all else.

I'm not. And that's not really not a concern. Her character would have to play mediator if anything. Kyouko is going to be too busy doing shit with Sayaka and Madoka needs a power hitter to help her with Homura. Once she gets her god powers back, she has no reasn to fight Homura, so I dn't think we'll be seeing Madokami.

While we've never seen Homura act malicious and smarmy, it's not really out of character if it's a logical conclusion for her.

Think about it this way: you're Homura Akemi. You have no family, no friends, you've been out of school for who knows how long and you basically suck at life. But you have a second chance! Kyubey gives you the option to become a super-hero as well, plus a wish that will let you save Madoka! Sure you could just wish her back to life, but that's not good enough for you! You want to be more than useless baggage this time, so you wish yourself to be strong enough to save her and undo the time spent with her so that you can get things right.

Unfortunately, wishes aren't perfect, and you are pretty weak by conventional magical girl standards. But you pull yourself up by your bootstraps and teach yourself how to make bombs, and procure and operate firearms. It wasn't easy, but you'll do whatever it takes to save Madoka. And then Walpurgisnacht happens and this time not only have you failed to save Madoka, but she's become a witch, a fate worse than death. What a complete fuckup you are.

So you go back in time to warn everyone. But this time, Sayaka FUCKING Miki contracts, and not only does she fucking complain about you using your smart, efficient weaponry (you know, the only thing that you worked so hard for that makes up for your weak magical girl powers) because she wants to fucking fight witches with her fucking sword like a fucking LARPer, but she also goes out of her fucking way to discredit you when you warn them about the truth of witches (and likely has the support of Mami, since she trusts Kyubey like a friend). Oh, and she's also such a fucking liability that she witches out first. This of course, makes Mami lose all semblance of rationality and she murders Kyoko on the spot, and would have murdered you too if Madoka hadn't been forced to put her down. Once again, you've made everything worse while Madoka has saved you. This is the complete opposite of what you wanted. Fuck Mami, and FUCK Sayaka.

So you keep going back, and things keep getting screwed up, and eventually you just outright give up on saving anyone but Madoka (FUCK Sayaka), becoming a hardened badass in the process. And we finally come to the final timeline the main show takes place in. Like always, Mami attacks you even when you try to fucking help her, Sayaka is still fucking up like the complete fuckup she is, Kyoko is OK but always gets drawn into Sayaka's fuckups, and oh look, all this time traveling you've been doing has guaranteed that not only will Kyubey never pass up the opportunity to contract Madoka, but she'll also destroy the world when she does. What a complete fuckup you are.

So Madoka makes her universe-defining wish (which YOU enabled her to make), and suddenly she's been completely erased from the world, the old monsters are gone but now there are new ones so Madoka's wish hasn't even fucking done anything, and even Kyubey can't tell if you're not just a crazy hobo. What a complete fuckup you are.

Come on man. I can't even say I disliked the movie, it was good up until those last 30 minutes. Homura is out pf character. Madoka is treated ike shit from beginning to end. Sayaka is once again reduced to a crying, whiny moeblob. Mami and Kyouko are literally just background filler.

You really don't know what Homura was thinking for sure. For all she knew that wasn't even Madoka and was just the Incubators messing with her even more than they already had. Why not just take the power and make sure she could control the outcome of everything for sure. Her mental state by that point of the anime wasn't in tip top shape. I'm not saying this theory of mine is correct and I'm not saying yours is wrong but don't degrade the entire fan base based on your opinion about the show and Homuras character. For all we know there could be a logical reason why she did what she did.

If you were Homura would you honestly trust all this effort and sacrifice you put in to someone who you believe didn't fully understand what was happening at that point or possibly the Incubators. I'd do the exact same thing she did.

Even if you want to refute the Incubator theory imagine how powerless Homura must have felt throughout the anime and the movie. She was always coming up short and was defeated in literally everything she did although we both know she isn't weak by any means in her head she is likely the weakest she's ever been. She watched her friends die over and over and couldn't do anything to change the outcome no matter how many times she tried. After everything that happened Madokas decision making skills wouldn't have seems very good by any means in Homuras eyes although she didn't hold it against her. Now imagine seeing all the power you would ever need to protect everyone and control everything within arms reach and considering her mental state as well why wouldn't she take it? It really wouldn't make sense if she didn't In my opinion.
