Here to continue the Kindergarten discussion. Anon just got btfo by someone talking about exploding dentists.
>>
>>141091955
tl;dr: Anon thinks that "the t sound" is something it's not, looks like an idiot and pretends the person/people telling him he's wrong are trolling
>>
>>141092007
If you think that even remotely sounds like a "d" you're deaf.
>>
>>141092007
"anon" and "the people" are interchangeable here, there is no way of telling which is which, as both were talking about "the T sound" and both were "telling [the other] he's wrong".
>>
>>141092093
A glottal stop is not a voiceless dental plosive, sorry.
>If you think that even remotely sounds like a "d" you're deaf.
I never said it sounded like a D. I said that it was wrong to say that the D sound is not normal.

>I said that it was wrong to say that the D sound is not normal.
That's because there is no D sound. It's literally the letter "t" that is present in the word, which is literally pronounced the same way as the German word. As a T.
>>
>>141092442
There's no T there senpai. Consider getting a hearing aid, 'cause you're so deaf you're inserting sounds that don't exist.

using the voiceless dental plosive in kindergarten is a hypercorrection. sure must suck to be insisting on something that's literally objectively incorrect

There is a reason japanese rap isn't popular anywhere on earth.

It is funny, the aspect of the language which would have you think it would be really suitable for rap, is what makes it fall flat and sound like a monotonous cascade.

I feel like Im different from how most people think. I could never be obsessed with a idol girl, or any female whose merit is being attractive. I do think they're kawaii, but, its not like they're my girlfriend or something. I guess thats why nips get so triggered when their favorite idol gets married: they interpret it as being cucked.

not really something im proud of. Its actually been a discomfort for me my whole life. For instance, most people like yuri, and want their favorite female characters to be lesbians. But whenever I see a girl I like in a show, kiss another girl, I feel cucked myself because I self insert with the male mc a little.

I just get to attached to females very easily, so I have to stop myself from getting invested in one; why I choose not to get into idol girls.

>>141093969

When the best girl wins, its one of the greatest feelings in the world. But, I'd say, the biggest cringe cuck moments I had an anime were

kannazuki no miko ep 1. Biggest cuck in anime Ive ever seen
Yuru Yuri ep 4 because I felt bad for Akari.
Rosario Vampire, when its revealed Kurumu likes Mizore. Because Kurumu was my favorite girl
Oreimo. I thought the imouto love story was funny, and sweet. But I felt awful for kuruneko, since she was my favorite

Whenever I think about yuri, or if I ever have a gf whose bi, or will cheat on me, my body literally starts to tremble and shake. Im serious, Ive had this happen in front of my family, and then I have to tell them Im just cold or something. I literally twitch over girl on girl or just getting cucked in general

>>141094278
I have tried to fix this problem. Ive fapped to yuri of my favorite characters, because it is hot. But no matter, I always have this disgusted feeling deep down. Its not even that I hate lesbians, because Ive met lesbians I like irl. But idk, just dont want to be cucked. Ever. Which is why Ill never get into idols, maid cafes, whatever. And Im not even sure if I could ever fully trust women.

Why am I so fucked /djt/?

Radiologist in training. So I get to spend a lot of my time in dimly lit rooms staring at screens. Limited contact with patients, and the contact I have is both brief and highly formal. Formal contact I can handle, especially in a medical setting, considering the highly structured nature of it. Most talk is limited to instructions or explanations, you could basically have a computer handle these conversations, but that wouldn't do from the patient's POV.

Japanese out of any language has the high potential for rap. You can't make any sentence without internally rhyming and given the homophone density in the language, you could come up with triple entendres or more fairly reasonably. Renai Circulation is actually the best I've heard out of Japan in this regard.

The Japanese just aren't able to able to study what makes strong verses strong.

Is it normal to learn a kanji by just looking at it, or do i have some sort of super power?
I was reading a VN, and the kanji 愛 showed up. after 2 times, i stopped having to mouse over it. that was 2 days ago i think. now i was looking through this reddit, saw the kanji and i recalled it meant love. i've never seen that kanji before 2 days ago
This doesnt feel normal because everyone says learning kanji is hard. It's happened several times before as well, where i learn a kanji just from reading it a few times and staring at it. i feel like this will just get more and more useful as i learn more kanji
>>
>>141116646
No, kanji is useless studying time.
>>
>>141116646
This is how a lot of people here learn kanji. For most kanji, just seeing them used in words is enough to learn to recognise them (writing them is a separate matter).

Other people do dedicated kanji study like RTK and KanjiDamage. I couldn't say which group is the most prevalent here.

>>
>>141116520
A month and a half now. Retention is, for the most part, "flawless" in large because of the audiotapes. I hear the words being used in a natural context which makes it easier to remember. It also makes grouping words together much easier. Instead of remembering things as individual words, I remember the words as a part of a larger structure (often commonly used sentences). Stories are easier to remember than single words anyway.

Simply put instead of remembering "car", "work", "driving", "monday", "tired" etc. I will remember it as "I am tired after driving to work last monday". Which might be basic learning techniques, but still basic doesn't mean it's bad.

I don't use anki though, I use physical cards.

Word on one side, definition in English (+furigana if need be) on the other.
I create 50 new ones every session, the process of creating them in and of itself allows me to remember it more readily. I then go through those 50 cards until I feel like they "have stuck". I put these aside and take out ~50 of my old cards at random and go through those, any of them I remember immediately go straight back into the deck. Any I can't remember immediately, I will read the answer of and set aside for a second go around. If I remember them on the second go around I will put them back into deck, if I still fail to remember them I put them in my "fail" deck. At the end of each session I dedicate ~20-30 minutes to my fail deck, cards in the fail deck stay there for 7 days, after which I shuffle them back into my main deck. So this means my fail deck is split into 7 piles, the cards move up one pile each day until they reach the end and are shuffled back into the main deck. So in essence that gives me 3 decks on any given day, a deck of 50 cards created on the day itself, a deck containing all my old cards, and a deck of all my "failure cards" of the last week.

TL;DR
I have no stats to give you.

I should add that I did try anki at the start, but dropped it.

When I create my own physical deck, I create the cards in a logical following order. Such as the numbers 1-20 in the right following order. When learning these I will take them out of my deck and learn these in the right following order as well. The same for things like months, days of the week, telling the time etc. I remember when I first started, Anki throwing the numbers 1-20 at me in the most retarded of orders. Having no way to get the program to just list them 1 through 20 in that order, I got frustrated and switched to my physical deck.

It felt like anki might work as a pure revision tool, but not as a learning tool, but going by its popularity I guess that's just me.

It won't be much use to you if you haven't at least read Tae Kim or something because a basic level of knowledge is needed to understand the key sentences, example sentences, and explanations. I'm curious as to what kind of magical learning methods you were expecting to discover. Maybe the reason the guide is the way it is has to do with the fact that if you want to learn a language you simply need to learn vocab, grammar and in the case of Japanese kanji, all of which has explanations and resources in the guide.

I won't ask you to provide concise suggestions for improving it, rather I'd like to know which parts about it strike you as piss poor?

They are a French based company that offer a bunch of different courses. When I said it was free, I meant that it was "free", i.e. go be a pirate. Just look for "assimil japanese".

I used their courses to learn Russian, and it helped me a great deal. No idea how good their Japanese course is though, but I have no reason to believe it would be bad.

>Why would people bother making suggestions when they can plainly see that they are all ignored?
I dunno, I still constantly get emails from google, notifying me that someone has commented on the guide, apart from this most of the smaller suggestions made get a reaction.

I'd rather devote a proper amount of time and attention to the more lengthy suggestions since they are more than someone doing me the favor of correcting a spelling or grammar error. Unfortunately I don't have this kind of time right now, hence I'd be glad to have a second person on board with me. Otherwise, check again in two weeks or so, I should have some time then.

Can someone confirm I am reading this chart right? As I understand it this table says that, for instance, 2279 words make up 90% of the vocab used on internet forums. Am I getting that right? What do the percentages I marked in red denote?

What is the last sentence saying? The ここを逃すまいと今まで通りには絶対いかんでしょ
>>
>>141120915
"I am the one and only true animation in this world"
Idk what it means, but that's what he's saying.
>>
>>141120861
So what are the percentages marked in red?

Sure when it says that Newspapers use ~150k words, they don't mean to say that this is 5.5% of the japanese vocabulary. That would mean a comprehensive list of the entire moon vocab would consist of over 3.000.000 words, that seems a little, well, excessive.

Again, what do the percentages in red mean?
>>
>>141121165
Nothing wrong with です in that sentence, or /a/ for that matter.
>>
>>141120670
>>141120623

Yes. Those percentages are the % of the text that was "Assumed Known Words" (proper nouns, etc.).
>>
Can someone confirm this sentence for me?

> 確かに何でもしていいからって迫ったのは私よ?
"Certainly anything we do is okay because I'm the one (who gets caught, approached by)?"

I'm unsure of this 迫 verb, it doesn't make much sense to me in the sentence, "to approach, to urge, to compel, to draw near"

Any clarifications please?
>>
>>141121247

Can someone tell me what kanji is on small the pic to the right?
I'm guessing it's one of those hand-written short forms (I forgot if this has an actual name) because it doesn't look like any kanji and it's not on the list I have...

I think it's ウデ一本 tho

How'd I do?
>>
>>141123178
What is the actual meaning then?

Nothing says YOU can't be the shitposter. His/her post was actually helpful, and surprisingly, fit the context even though I haven't provided one.

If you want to confuse me you should post the meaning too, then I'd be more willing to believe.
>>
>>141123135
Agh, indeed, it's just that it was so crammed together I assumed it was a kanji, and seeing the " made me thing it was one of those hand-written ones...

ウデ一体 makes sense, thank you!

separate it like this:
確かに

何でもしていいからって
って is being used to quote

迫ったのは私よ?
the "to urge" definition makes sense here
>>

>>
>>141123586
からって is like だからって
= からという理由で
>the "to urge" definition makes sense here
no way
>>
>>141123252
That doesn't make a lot of sense out of context, but I guess it could be right. Are you sure you transcribed that correctly?
なんざ -> なんぞ?
長雨 -> 眺め?
>>
>>141123586
That's exactly how I tried it at first:

> 確かに
Certainly
> 何でもしていいからって
"Because anything I/we do is okay"
> 迫ったのは私よ?
because I'm the one who urged it?

I don't get it, can you please elaborate?
>>
>>141123828
Or maybe context is needed on second thought. I think it's weird saying it's 迫る if she's telling the other person to do stuff to her instead of making the advance herself but I guess it's possible
>>
>>141123851
なんざ isn't incorrect and 眺め doesn't exactly make sense.

>>141123252
First sentence translation is wrong. It looks like you understood what it said literally but then made up a liberal transaltion that gave a completely different idea.
>>
>>141123876
Context is boyfriend asking girlfriend to do something shameful like they already did before, she doesn't want anymore and is refusing
>>
>>141123947
Then it means he has an urge to defecate, you read pretty strange stuff.
>>
>>141123969

I think it's saying something like:
Certainly, I was the one who urged you on saying you can do anything you like.
>>

Well, if you're not the shitposter, I think the original respose was right indeed, I just checked this:
And it indeed makes sense the "subjugation".

Hmm not sure if it makes sense in the context, but I'm still unsure on who the speaker of that line is, but if it's the boy something similar might fit:

> Boy: Hey let's do this (blindfold)
> Girl: No way! I refuse because <reasons>
> Boy: But this is nothing compared to what we've done before...
> Girl: The problem IS what we've done before!
> ?: 確かに何でもしていいからって迫ったのは私よ?
> Girl: But there are limits! Every time I agree to it, always we get rash and I end up miserably

下がる - come down
下り - downhill / going down
下ろす - bring down
下る - go down
下りる - go down / come down

But why
>>

It makes sense to me in that context. i.e. "I know I've encouraged you in the past, but"

If that's the case, then don't act smug with people ( >>141119656 ) when they criticise the guide and dismiss them by saying they should just make a suggestion if they don't like it when by your own admission you aren't even implementing anything but the most minor suggestions.

If you don't have time for it, as you say, then it is best that you just hand it over to someone who does. Why did you even bother making a whole new guide if you don't plan on maintaining it after the next few months ( >>141120248 ) anyway?
>>
>>141125213
What do you suggest then?
>>
>>141125276
I suggest we use a much more fair measure, for example how about the number of kanji someone knows?
>>
>>141125276
The number of comic books you have read is the only valid measure.
>>
>>141125294
You could know all the jouyou kanji and still not know any japanese at all. You could also know almost none and still be able to read most anything if you just have access to a dictionary (which he has in the case of 2chan). The number of kanji you know is absolutely meaningless. Standardized tests are far better at judging actual skill, even if they are not perfect.
