Would light novels such as Index and the like be better/worse

By the way I'm not trying to force anything here. Just wondering if the concept ever crossed your mind.

I'm sure there's some appeal there but isn't a big draw for harem-types the "hype" (for lack of a better word) surrounding who the protagonist will end up with? You can't really have that if they're fucking.

Index? Certainly not. The main point of Raildex is crazy plot, crazy battles and crazy characters + SoL moments with stupid banter. Harem is there only to fuel those comic relief moments.
With serious romance added, it just wouldn't be Raildex anymore. Only a fanatical shipfag won't see that romance fits neither Touma nor the series.

It's barely relevant now, involves side character, not MC and was introduced mostly as a plot device in OT.

However any series with actual focus on a romance/harem wouldn't suffer if relationships didn't get eternally stalled for no reason other than pleasing autistic purityfags.
