So is this just a blander version of Evangelion? It seems like the early 2000s washed out colors era somehow effected all the other aspects of the show. Blander visual direction, setting, storytelling, characters and narrative construction. It's like if someone realized how Eva was divisive and decided to make a show that would elimanate everything that made it that way, but in the end also just tuned down everything that made it interesting in the first place.

I tried not too, especially since I realized how much Eva took a lot from Ideon and Devilman. Yet those works were very different from it in the end so I though in this case it would be similar. But no anon, the level of similarity is on a totally different level here. This is even outdoes the Getter Robo - Tengen Toppa similarities.
