Yeah, I've already decided I was only going to draw what I loved doing and stick to that. Being generally ignored by the community despite being a part of it for years is always a little frustrating, but I never want to just pander my art to get "popular", and not that I have anything against anyone who genuinely likes to draw something like kancolle all the time, I just don't think I could enjoy being an artist who does stuff like that just for the attention it brings. Then you're on the right track, honestly if nobody is taking notice, then you need to practice more, or reevaluate the appeal of your style.
Sometimes artists just have an unappealing style that turns people off, sometimes artists are so good at copying the style of an anime that no one can ever distinguish the artist.
Keep practicing, and drawing what you like. Sticking with it, and continuing even when you think nobody cares or when you feel down is the most important part of improvement, never give up!
When I started, I got very few (you)s, the (you)'s I did get were usually critiques like "it looks weird" or "its not my thing" etc. It was discouraging but I genuinely enjoyed drawing so I kept going, and with improvement I got more (you)'s.
Its like that movie, "if you build it, they will come", improve your skill, and you'll get the appreciation you deserve.
If you think you "dont need improvement" you are wrong, everyone needs improvement, everyone is still learning, even experienced drawfags, even professional artists.

Personally I look at drawing like a hobby or a game, if I notice something wrong after the fact I make note of it and try improving the next time, just remember that messing up is no big deal if you make an effort to improve and learn from your mistakes.
