Amazon acquired exclusive streaming rights for the whole noitamina block, I don't think that's something CR or Funi can afford. On the other hand I wonder what was netflix's reaction to this annoucement. They already announced that they are producing their own anime,and this acquisition also looks like a way for Amazon to counterattack against Netflix's move. There must be a lot of potential in the anime streaming market if Amazon and Netflix are ready to go that far. Even the already established streaming company are starting to get involved with the production (Funi with Dimension W for exemple) despiste being nothing compared to Amazon and Netflix.

And this is were CR fucked up, they didn't think that other companies would enter the game so quickly. They could of so easily had it all, too much diversifying and not conquering the anime streaming landscape.

I actually want kabaneri to be the next big thing, It would give western streaming companies more confidence to investing new anime IPs. Meaning it could raise the bar for anime which is needed.

If new anime fans think the current landscape is the norm and which will be largely received with open arm with audience and streaming industry a like. Then we're fucked.

The cycle of shows being produced to pander the core audience "japanese otaku crowd" will continue and thus innovations of the medium will be delay. I know it's speculation and I'm just doomsaying.

But at the rate we're going the anime industry is going to be a lot more crowded in next few years. Especially when korea and china are going to come into the mix.
