The starting ‘life points” is 4000 and the phases are as of course the same as if you would play a normal Yu-Gi-Oh! game. The field will be the familiar field we all know, including the new Pendulum Zones.

Though, the play style sounds normal, its not your traditional Yu-Gi-Oh! Some changes to the rules have been made: The normal Yu-Gi-Oh! deck is 40 cards, but in Duel Links the deck will be 20~30 cards. The “Extra Deck” will be a max of 5 cards. Your hand will start off with 4 cards and the hand size limit is 6 cards.

God this felt like a really underwhelming VJump. Movie pack was alright, but they gave us only 3 cards which were all predictable too. TDIL cards are ok, collectors pack isn't that great. I guess the banlist was entertaining to see but now I'm scared as fuck for my OEM deck. Duel Masters got rebranded and rereleased in the states as Kaijudo a few years back, but it eventually died AGAIN because the support for it was pretty shit (only specialty card shops stocked it) and the anime barely existed (in fact, I'm pretty certain we didn't even get a dub of the anime).

The reason i think Fusion Pendulum might be Stargazer is because Rune-Eyes is technically a Stargazer-Odd-Eyes fusion, and we have 3 Odd-Eyes in manga representing Stargazer, Timegazer, and OERD. It would also seem strange to give Timegazer all these evolutions and give Stargazer just Rune-Eyes.

Ultimately I think Fusion Pendulum will resemble a Fusion of Stargazer and Performapals.

He didn't HAVE to, the plot just forces him into it because Pendulum logic. Every good that Yuya does or a happy moment he gets, it is met with tragedy and suffering.

Isao he had Rune Eyes which is basically immune to his fusion nonsense. Cue random Action card nonsense and bam he wins.

Crow is harder to judge cause it's fucking crow but I think if this was a selling episode, Yuya would have probably gotten his upgrade to Enlightenment magician here or a new Odd Eyes synchro instead to fight back.

That doesn't change the fact that Hitotsu-ni is a better duelist/doesn't have father issues to hold him back/make him stupid for plot.

Fuck, I R3 more often than I R4 in Pendulum Magicians. You can effortlessly turn Number 17 into an OERD and ALSO get a Synchro play or two out of it by exploiting Nobledragon's grave effect. It's pretty sustainable, too, since negation isn't as nice against Number 17 as it is on DRXD or Kachi-Kochi, and you don't auto-lose if you get your OERD-making scales popped.

Actually it is very likely that he'll use it as a scale to beat Jack.
The course that the duel is likely going to take is that Yuya will summon Nirvana, add Smile World to his hand, destroy a monster to halve Jack's life points.
From there Jack will summon Tyrant, blow everything up, cause Nirvana to enter the pendulum zone, upon going for the direct attack Yuya will attempt to use an action card, have it negated and then summon Acrobat Magician to protect his life points instead. Acrobat Magician gets sent to the other scale at this point.
Now Yuya has to, pendulum summon, somehow negate Tyrant's effect, activate Smile World, and then ram every monster he has against Tyrant to lower it's attack enough through Nirvana's pendulum effect, in order to destroy it for good and potentially cause Jack to hit 0 LP.

Well considering they only have one episode to duel before Heartland occurs, they'll likely start their pre-duel dialogue at the end of 98 and start the duel proper towards the beginning of 99. This gives them both at least two turns before "something unexpected happens to Roger's appearance." It also accounts for cutting back and forth between Reiji vs Roger and Yuya "I'm going to kill Roger" Sakaki. It's pretty likely though that we either: won't see the full duel, the duel will get interrupted, and/or Reiji will destroy Roger's Fusion that requires a Synchro material with a new Synchro D/D/D.
