Well, so much for Gohan taking Buu's spot for failing the written test
I think Toriyama stated than Frieza and his father were some sort of mutants. It means either that there is no specific "frieza race", or that they were extraoridinarly strong for their kind.
I don't know, but I'm glad. Piccolo's a pretty cool character, while Gohan past cell saga is shit
U6 arc could be the RoF in Super for Gohan. The anime is making to much enphasis in Gohan's lack of training, while the manga is just starting to develop said plot. Piccolo or someone else could die to make Gohan realizes he needs to train.
He isnt, in the manga Gohan defeated Shisami and in the anime he defeated Tagoma and Ginyu!Tagoma.
Majin Puu and Robo get taken out within one episode each.
Blue Freeza tries to backstab everyone but gets killed by purple Piccolo who is all about honor and shit for it.
Chinese Vegeta joins the good guys.
Titgoblin is the actual villain of the arc and turns into a giant monster which Chinese Vegeta and Purple Piccolo help defeat.
>I think Toriyama stated than Frieza and his father were some sort of mutants
Toriyama likes to use the term "mutants" to describe powerful members of some species. Ginyu and Jeice were also called "mutants" by Ginyu himself.
Ginyu even wondered if Goku wasn't some kind of saiyan mutant as well.
Japanese "genius" doesn't translate correctly to the English "genius". It's someone who's highly gifted towards some specific talent. Don't know if it's laziness or misunderstanding, but many translators don't clarify between the two; but most of the time it's the "talented" version when used in an action manga/anime.
For example, the NFL, NBA, etc. could be filled with "geniuses" that lose all their money 10 years after getting a $15 million salary.
Buu is still smarter than he lets on.
>Better than OPM
Not even that anon, but stop deluding yourself you dumb frogposter.
It's more of a return of Toriyama humor - especially in the character designs but people look at them and think "oh not scary and strong enough!!!".
Toriyama has first and foremost always been a comedic writer
Well i can't say much about "Toriyama humor" 'cause Dragon Ball is the only work i'm familiar with, but as far as DB's humor goes, Super is a long shot away from it
If Super's goal is not to mimic early DB but really to make something he thinks its fun by his current standard then kudos to him, i just wish people realize this doesn't mean early DB fans will be instantly pleased by it
Look, I'm not even meeming or joking with you.
DB was exactly like it was BECAUSE the characters reflect the story. KID Goku. KID Bulma. KID Krillin.
>Shounen, PG13 violence
DBZ was a massive success because it matured. ADULT Goku, ADULT Bulma, etc.
Uhh, we're serious ? No wait, we're just joking ... no okay now we're not, we're martial artists. Oh whis you're stepping on poo omg xD here's a funny dance for you mr. beerus sama~
Tfw shitting on these bitches so they say "s-samefaggg"
Eh, i like those new designs since Yo!! Goku and his friends returns. I even like the strongest from U7.
Well, i dont like Whis desu.
And neither Buu but he is from Z so doesnt count as new.
And the short blue guy from RoF along with the tall red guy, cant stand their fucking nose, i think this two are a good example of Toryama lazyness, not the ones in this chapter.
>Buu over Gohan and Tien
Hell, even Yamcha and Krillin would've been better than Buu. Also isn't Buu already a god?
Is that a fucking Frieza recolor?
Toriyama needs the fucking retire
Wait, are we really in a new saga now? No Golden Frieza anymore?
Good. This is what Super needed. Because so far it was just rehashes of the new movies. I want new shit. This multiverse thing is awesome.
Wait, do we know for sure what format this tournament is taking? Everyone's acting like it's going to be 1v1 fights, but the manga said the winning side is whoever takes out the other side's team captain first.
Mark my words, niggers.
The problem ona a 5 v 5 is the pairings. Your jober vs their tough guy is your victory. You want your tough guy vs some of their tough guys, not wasted vs some weak ass faggot. And Universe 7 will win, not because they're stronger in general, but because luck with the pairings.
With all these new characters being added to the canon, it's just making Z's ending really stupid.
Goku fights Uub as if Uub was a formidable adversary. But thanks to Super, Uub would be a walk in the park compared to many of the show's characters. They might as well just retcon the ending.
Buu is kind of strong but useless nowadays. He doesn't even have the balls to turn someone into candy and just fucking eat him. he's only good at being difficult to kill, but I bet some of these U6 fags could.
If NotFrieza has the same habilities Frieza had, he's gonna be a pretty decent at mid. We don't know for sure what that other fag can do, but looks like a tough enough guy to deal with his own shit alone on top lane.
Why the fuck they didnt use saitama as fifth member?
Vegeta and Buu did meet him cannonly
Hold on, is that winnie the fucking pooh?
>DBZ was matured
Eh, not really anon. I'm assuming you never watched db past season one and probably only remember the Frieza/Cell games saga of dbz like every other bandwagon nostalgia fan on this board right? Db had some pretty serious arcs and dbz was full of humour/cute filler shit from the get go. Go watch the Great Saiyaman saga again or early Saiyan saga, or Namek. Super actually hits the tone very well if you knew anything about this series. A lot of us were quite relieved that they didn't over do the edgy serious tone.
Gohan is the biggest faggot in the Dragon Ball series. Throughout the entirety of the DBZ series he's always been a whiny faggot, especially as a kid. Compare him to Goku in the Dragon Ball series and you'll obviously know that Goku was way better as a kid. Yet Gohan still gets the girl and a family under the protection of his father, even his kid is probably stronger than him.
>By the Gods...is this the end of Piccolo...?
Fat Buu is mainly ignorant from what I recall
He just doesn't understand the world and was never taught anything, since he's kept on a short leash. However once he's off that leash, he starts learning fairly fast.
It only takes Hercule telling him not to do something once before he changes his entire outlook on morals. He seems to pick things up decently, even if he's fairly bumbling and childish in mind. You get some glimpses at how fast he is at picking up new knowledge with the way he picks up new fighting styles after seeing it, and the way he adapts to the world after watching people. Its entirely foreign to him, but after seeing people he tried making his own house and tries to live like people.
I don't know, he's not retarded like people think at least.
Didn't he even use some of those moves on his evil side though? And come up with some shit against Kid Buu like making duplicates of himself? It's been so fucking long since I read the manga.
>goku comes back as main character and savior
>other characters get sidelined, depowered, turn into jokes
>fights many villians with cool designs
>looking for dragonballs
people shit on GT
>goku is main hero with vegeta as sidekick
>every characters gets sidelined, depowered and become irrelevant
>shitty villian designs, rehashes of movies, overused villians designs
>looking for dragonballs
And yet people are trying to convince themselves that Super is better than GT in any aspect.
Pic very much related.
And Chi Chi isn't an annoying bitch as in Super.
Toei had the balls to make 18 fight for more than 5 seconds.
They actually remember 17.
Gohan actually had muscles.
And for fuck's sake, even when GT is Toei's fanfiction whose real title is Goku's the best, just the best, GT's moral is that the characters don't have to rely on Goku and the dragon balls, they have to do shit.
>It's more of a return of Toriyama humor - especially in the character designs but people look at them and think "oh not scary and strong enough!!!".
This is the sort of thing we tell ourselves to defend Super, but it's quite off base. Dragonball had a bunch of silly moments, and unstandard character designs, but they weren't completely lacking in detail or had, I'll just say it, juvenile character design.
Bacterian might have defeated people with his stench, and we have a silly art joke about Krillin beating him because "he doesn't have a nose", but that isn't the same as Bacterian having a huge bulge in his pants because HAHAHA BIG PENIS
>Fighting against anything above planet level
Let him stick to his verse man, getting his shit kicked in by faggots that can destroy a planet with less than their 1%(Piccolo) won't make me happy, it would make me sad since I like him.
>This is the sort of thing we tell ourselves to defend Super, but it's quite off base
Good comedy is BoG, RoF is tasteless.
The desgins are plain childish for robot, Winnie the Pooh and Nipple, Frieza and purple guy are DBO rip off.
Even the moonies are disappointed with Toriyama.
Oh come the fuck on. Do you think that there's anything left in the tank for putting any effort into anyone other than Goku and Vegeta? Buu is going to show up specifically to job just to show how strong the other guys are. Why do you think he got left behind/written out of the Revival of Freeza arc? (HE WAS HIBERANTING!! BUU NEEDS TO DO THAT, DON'T YOU KNOW!!) There's no point in having Gohan show up, because the series already made sure to let everyone know he's weak/pathetic to be of any consequence. I'm afraid I don't have any faith left in the tank to think that all those comments of "man, fuck Gohan for not coming" from Goku aren't going to build up into anything substantial.
On that note, I don't know why Goku's made he isn't there when they weren't going to fucking ask him to come anyway.
They already promised to make sure that Vegeta gets his due. So he's not going to job. So the only other person left is Piccolo.
Super's a pretty fucking odd series, because it's making me realize that DB fans will defend anything and everything that Super churns out, and maybe GT wasn't that fucking terrible.
Because I'm seeing a lot of shit that Super does that everyone hated in GT, and everyone defends it anyway. It's ironic, because GT was born out of an attempt to bring the series back to it's roots, and everyone hated it, and Super will do some horseshit and people will say the series is going back to it's roots.
These three fucks aren't any more retarded that Vegeta's dance scene and other crap in the series now. I didn't have a problem with Vegeta's little scene, but for whatever reason THAT'S okay, and THIS is terrible.
If the tournament goes as predicted and Piccolo and Buu are just there to job, I'm giving up on Super.
>dragon ball was also more sexualized compared to Z/GT/Super
I miss DB ladies, every women in DBS are boring.
>If the tournament goes as predicted and Piccolo and Buu are just there to job, I'm giving up on Super.
Piccolo is gonna fight purple Frieza, doesn't it remember you of anything?
Maybe I'm too insisted in this, but I kind of doubt Toei is making up shit with Gohan's lack, the manga skipped RoF arc, so maybe Toyotaro is doing this in U6 arc. So Piccolo could die.
Or you could be right and Toei/Toriyama is just trolling.
>The desgins are plain childish for robot, Winnie the Pooh and Nipple, Frieza and purple guy are DBO rip off.
I think it's pretty fresh that people make fun of "Mexicans/Latinos" for wanting a cast of alternate Saiyans and what not, and then two members of the cast are a fucking Freeza recolor and a MMORPG Saiyan.
For fuck's sake, we just finished giving Freeza his own arc. We couldn't give this character design a rest? I wouldn't be surprise to see Cell get revived too at this rate.
2ch, twitter, Pivix.
Someone made this after RoF saying how much upset he/she was.
>people make fun of "Mexicans/Latinos" for wanting a cast of alternate Saiyans
The funny thing is mexicans/latinos are DB/Z/Sfags till death. They are going to eat whatever shit Toriyama shits if it has Goku's face printed on it.
Totally not true. The ratings are great, the reviews are great and public opinion is great.
Haven't we had this discussion every thread?
GT was trash, super is better by far. move on.
>The ratings are great
The viewers are kids.
>the reviews are great
What reviews do your refer to? Nips or westerns?
>public opinion is great
What I said above.
Just read 2ch and the moon sites,
No one is allowed to have fun or enjoy anything remotely popular on /b/
I go drinking here every second night and talk with salarymen and gorgeous japanese women about dragonball super, then i have sex with them. :)
It's popular, like, ghibli/frozen level popular. It's not just kids watching.
As for ratings:
Funny note: This page and a lot of others online translate "dragon ball super" to "dragon ball cho".
I don't know where that came from, maybe westerners reading the kanji literally? Everyone in japan says super not cho. I actually got told off by some girls for saying cho instead of super.
>he's way more popular than Gohan which is definitely true
Because you are wrong, Japan has a boner for Piccolo and Gohan.
>The whole point is Goku having fun training him into something way stronger than Kid Buu was
No, the whole point is Goku fucking off and living la vida loca ditching his family again.
Masako Nozawa is 79, everybody.
Lurk more, until this day Gohan and Piccolo got fanarts and doujins.
I've actually been shitting on the Super anime since episode 1. And I will continue to shit on it until we get to the Universe Martial Arts Tournament.
Chapter 6 expanded the lore on the series, what with the super dragon balls and more explanation about how the 12 universes work, etc. and with chapter 8 we're going to be introduced to brand new characters. We'e finally getting new stuff that isn't fucking rehashes from the movies, and so far it looks promising.
I still wish they would get rid of the composer though. Goddamn I hate Super's music. It all sounds like a videogame's main menu music to me. Bring back Kikuchi.
>I've actually been shitting on the Super anime since episode 1
>and so far it looks promising
Episodes 1 and 2 are god tier compared to what we got so far in DBS for U6.
I see two real outcomes.
>because Goku is the best
>all is well
>they collect the super dragonballs
>wish the Earths to go back to their original universes
>all is well
The second outcome furthers the story along. The first one doesn't.
I'm thinking Goku will have the last fight and he ends up losing, for dramatic effect. Beerus then forces him to find the Super Dragonballs.
Either way, we know it'll be 2-2 going into the last fight, otherwise there's no suspense.
>That Saiyan looks a bit like Gohan
He looks like Tarble.
Maybe if you're a casual
>Zangya will never return to either join the Z-Fighters or become a recurring villainess against them
Why even exist?! This is why Dragon Ball Z is crap.
I'm kind of expecting the second one, but rather most of the fights are won by 7 and the robot (whom I suspect may be a sayian as well) just destroys them all.
Or maybe team 7 wins, but Champa, being the spoiled little shit he appears to be, uses the super dragon balls himself to fuck everything up. In your scenario, the only problem I have is I can't see how the second set of the super dragon balls are going to be used in that scenario.
Zangya is love. Zangya is life.
I'm calling it now, that Frieza guy is Cooler. Look at the color scheme and the fact that toei released a figurine of him with to advertise fukkatsu no f makes me wonder if this time he is his alternate version instead...
I don't know why they didn't just leave their daughter with Videl or something and both go wreck ass. Or why leave Yamcha behind, he could take a few and at least act as a distraction. I mean fucking Jaco was able to take out a bunch of them and his strongest attack was basically shooting a bunch of them in the knee. Everyone who was even slightly strong should have come and fought. It would have been a great chance to see older characters again, like maybe even 17.
At least Goten and Trunks came back for Super. It was completely stupid to leave them out of the movie when they are stronger than half the people who came
Yeah, they really need to do something with 17. I know there's the Super 17 saga, but.. GT..
>At least Goten and Trunks came back for Super. It was completely stupid to leave them out of the movie when they are stronger than half the people who came
Agreed. I was at least glad they came in Super, but also annoyed at the same time because Buu is conveniently sleeping through the arc..
Well that seems easy enough; you don't have all the baggage that comes with being a fan of the original anime. To me, the music in Super isn't right, the sound effects aren't right, and the art isn't right. The only thing carrying the show is it's cast, but with Joji Yanami's performance and subsequent removal from the show.... it's a reminder of how quickly that all can change...
100% agreed. There's something about Super that just bothers me.. I think it's pretty much everything you mentioned.
Movie sucks and nowhere near as enjoyable and memorable as Kikuchi, the animation is fucking cheap shit and another thing that I just noticed is that there are no emotional moments in Super. I just watched the latest episode where Piccolo gets in front of Gohan so he wouldn't get blasted by Frieza's attack. An obvious homage to the Saiyan saga when the same thing happened. Except in the saiyan saga, it was actually emotional. You felt for Piccolo dying trying to save Gohan.
In Super, I felt nothing. There is no real tension and the music doesn't seem to sync with the moment.. it's just badly executed all around.
It really is no better than GT. But at least GT had good animation and good music.
I remember Ryo Horikawa showing up on one of those old Nico Nico streams they used to have at cons when they tried to push Nico Nico in the West.
He had pretty good English, which I believe was in part due to having a foreigner live with him as his pop's guest for a long period of time.
We Are Goku!
Vegeta x Vegeta
Alright, it had BETTER animation than Super.
That should tell you something.. I mean just look at this crap.
I don't really understand what you mean here. Are you implying that Vegeta appeared in the anime before he appeared in the manga? Because that's a really absurd and easily disprovable notion.....
>winnie the Pooh
> a robot
I for one like where this is going. Don't let me down toriyama
What about cooler? He wasn't a mutant right? He was weaker than frieza, but worked harder for it? In the end, frieze had more potential to surpass him, but never did so, because he never had the challenge to peak?
Cooler is a movie villain, don't expect him to fit into the story
I sort of doubt that King Cold is a mutant. Frieza survived getting cut in half and being left on an exploding planet, but Cold died from just a hole in the chest.
Oh wow, you're right....
Episode 5 - Vegeta's first appearance; 24 May 1989
Goku and Vegeta's Garlic-ho and Kamehameha clash; 04 July 1989 (Weekly Shōnen Jump 1989 #31)
I've gotten so used to yelling at people who don't know shit that I forgot that I don't know shit... Kudos to you anon.
The older brother of Freeza, who brags that he is the strongest in the universe. He has the same appearance as Freeza's strongest form, but Coola can transform one more time than his younger brother!!
Super evolution! This is the final form!!
As opposed to Freeza, whose power was too strong in his third-transformation form, to the point where he couldn't restrain it, Coola is able to always be in his third-transformation form, and in addition is capable of one more transformation!!
I don't mind really. I'm fine with buu over gohan
I want a filler arc about the B-Team (Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Master Rochi) beating a Dr. Gero tier villain on Earth while the main fighters are off on their fanfic tournament.
>For what purpose?
visit the artist in 2009 and ask him
>Gohan's conference ends and he arrives to help
>B team already beat the villain
>Gohan goes home alone. Waiting for Videl to return.
>other characters get sidelined, depowered, turn into jokes
>every characters gets sidelined, depowered and become irrelevant
Nice choice of words, let's see:
In GT most of the time the MC are Trunks, Pan and Goku, but in true the MC are just Pan and Goku. In the end Vegeta becomes the "sidekick". The show is finished, and it still smell like shit to me.
In Super, in the BoG arc almost every character had a role in fighting Beerus, RoF is just like an arc from Z now, much better than the movie imo.
And Super just started.
Always liked this scene. He so had it coming
He's fucking right though.
The only female character that does anything is Bulma, and that's because they need someone to invente shit.
Look at what they did to Videl. Shit, they recreated a whole bullshit side to the Saiyans just so they could make Bardock's wife a fucking cook.
Caped baldly could wipe them all in single punch
Why is one of the strongest warriors a steam powered robot? It should be powered up by Saiyanite, a rare and powerful mineral that hurts saiyans and has a huge energy output instead of being powered by steam
