What the fuck happened to quality standards in animation? Why has the production value gone down the toilet like that, even when we never had so much technology to produce great content?
Just compare this from FMA 2003, to the dull stretched out padding heavy animation of its 2009 counterpart. Even the colors have lost their vivacity and there's no sense of perspective to extract from them, characters are animated on lifeless backgrounds like in front of a blue screen.
They took away the intensity from anime and now you're better off reading the manga and imagining fast paced action on your own.
Don't worry anon. Next season will have animation like this
And there will be more and more of it with every season.
Aside from maybe "CANAAN" (which had similar action scenes and effects/lighting to FMA 2003), more or less yeah. I know parts of the team are also working on that "Under The Dog" Kickstarter anime and it shows.
It looks like they're getting more and more desperate to find a middle ground between how fucking amazing 2D animation can look, and how cheap 3D animation is to produce in comparison.
Looks like they're having a very very hard time...
Another kid who thinks his childhood anime is better than the newer version. As if it wasn't bad enough to keep hearing this shit from HxH fans.
The very first shot of your webm is a low quality quickly drawn bradley, it goes on to feature a stock charge animation with the cliche supersonic background. There's no sense of distance of distance or weight. Just flashy things to be appreciated by someone with a sub average IQ who cannot process information fast enough anyway.
And I would say that's pretty low key compared to the crap we see especially with the chibi chinese girl.
>Flashy effects are the pinnacle of animation.
Because anime has become about finding ways to bilk as much money as possible over fanatic believer types who don't care much about things like animation quality, storytelling, character development etc. As long as it looks like the product they worship that's generally enough to more than get by. That's why you have shows like Monogatari where it's mostly just talking and fanservice and every week people are losing their shit and praising it cause they're fanatics who eat that kind of shit up regardless of whether they spend 50,000 yen on an episode or 50,000,000.
Not the guys above, but this isn't good animation at all. The first jump is completely unrealistic and Scar is just floating around. Look at his body movements, they defy the laws of physics.
When was the anime industry not like that?
>poorly hidden "03 FMA is da bess!" thread
Wow, I seriously just noticed the panda is copying her moves.
The early 2000s had plenty of poorly animated shit though, if anything it might be one of the worst periods for anime because of the transition from traditional animation to digital.
I don't think it's that surprising that the original series had better animation, since that was when the series was at its peak in popularity.
Just because the Alternate Real-World NAZI Germany Dimension is 'original' doesn't make it any less shit. It's practically an insult to the entire manga.
The last half of 2003 FMA was jumping one shark only to jump an even bigger one.
Also let me add
>studios specializing on CGI who have done all their animation with CGI making CGI shows means every studio will use CGI in the future
How retarded can you be to claim that?
Escaflowne had ridiculous budget, like, a small country's GDP kind of budget. It was golden age for animation and sadly it will never happen again. Economy sucks balls. Escaflowne is love.
Don't you know anon? All CGI is dogshit. There's no good CG. That's the ebin meme you need to obey if you want to belong to the ebin sekrit club,
Another ebin meme to follow like a religion is that every anime will be CGI in the future using shows made by studios that have always done their shows in CGI and never in 2D as proof. The proof may be shitty. But that's the ebin meme. Follow it or you can't fit in
Periodic reminder that if you think Brotherhood is better you are a pleb with pleb taste.
Now without annoying green border.
creative slavery in Japan and South Korea is exposed and frowned upon, Japanese merchant have to pay their animators livable wages now.
Which means that they cannot afford to do animations with a lot of frames because their money cannot go far.
And that's basically it.
It is also the reason, Western animation is doing it worse because pay is higher in US so the quality drop even further.
The only ones that can afford great animations are billion dollar earners, such as movies and AAA games because right now, great animations cost around USD$5 million and above. Nothing below that.
Japan don't have billion dollar earners.
So shit like pic will be norm for US shit?
Well, fuck it then. I am watching chinese cartoons only. Western crap can fuck off.
I liked both FMA's series but you are a FUCKING RETARD if you think the animation for the first FMA anime was better.
So please get the fuck out of her with this dumbass shitpost.
Animation for the average series is far better now than it was for the average series before 2003 or so. That's better than a handful of very well animated shows a season and a mountain of garbage, which was the case throughout the early 90s and 2000s.
Late 80s was the best time, but you can't really compare because tv hadn't overtaken ovas and movies as the dominant medium yet.
FMA was filled with speed lines kek.
It's called Key animation, and every anime worth shit has such scenes. Sadly, they blow all the budget on a few cool scenes and the rest (95% of the episode) is filled with static images with moving mouths and speed lines.
