Well maybe they're pulling what Disney has been doing lately in their films PVs or Trailers and include scenes that didn't make it into the final product or are just for the trailer. Kingdom Hearts has one where Sora is running around Disney Castle which isn't a playable world until KHII. And there is BBS early trailer with Ven and Terra in Radiant Garden talking about events that have not passed at that time. It's speculated that it is for later games after Ven gets his heart back and Terra is free from being Xehanort's meat puppet.

Back in Adventure he was a 6th grader with a sense of obligation to protect his juniors. The whole Digital adventure never ended up affecting his schooling and the one glimpse we see of his academic ability shows he's not that smart.

Then 02 comes along and you know what happens? Everyone decides to leave it up to the new kids. All of his friends basically say it's okay to put this stuff aside and let them do it. Sure, they lend a hand every now and again but that once again never interrupts his studies. Everyone's basically told him "It's okay to put your studies first" for YEARS.

Now we're at Tri. The pressure is on. His grades haven't improved, his parents are probably breathing down his neck and now Digimon are appearing again? Well, it's not HIS problem because everyone already agreed that they should just leave it up to the people more adept/suited at handling it. Everyone's an adult now pretty much. They'll manage without him.

His current character is filled with doubt about his own abilities. Jou probably even believes that he's more a liability now. I mean if he can't even manage to fulfill the promise he made as a kid to himself, what could would he be fighting Digimon?

This is why I'm happy with Tri, because it's doing what made the original Adventure good and what made 02 fail. The characters are HAVING ARCS AND DEVELOPMENT. They might not be the deepest but they're there. I want to see Jou succeed. I want to see him self actualize and accept his flaws. I want to see him get called out.

I mean fuck, Mimi's probably going to be the one who does it. She'll be the one to voice our complaints. She'll be the one who asks where the Jou who chose to stay with her when she couldn't fight anymore went OR she'll be the one who tries harder while fighting BECAUSE of what he did for her when she couldn't.

The main problems with Xros Wars are too many characters who don't get developed (i.e. Persiamon, Kamemon, that Dracomon). It gets much worse in Xros Hunters.

Another problem was that the DigiXros were sometimes used for major asspulls. I remember there was this one episode where Mike had to go to save Akari leaving some of his Digimon behind as 1000 GrandisKuwagamon closed in on them. He came to the rescue just in time and gave Beelzemon a huge gun that killed every last one of them in a second.

Story-wise, it started very slow with the gather Code Crown MOTW set-up but it did get better when it moved onto the more serialised Death General arc.

As for that crossover. Yes, it was very bad. No interaction with the previous Heroes, no chance for character growth or conflicts. What I would have like to seen is Tagiru talking on screen with the previous heroes. Instead, the series ended with them literally having 5 minutes on screen before being used as a battery for Tagiru. For a 'crossover', it became all about Tagiru.

Funny you say that because Xros Wars has the absolute worse ratings of any series in digimon. Kids didn't watch nor care about it. So if anything it should be taken as a sign that Xros Wars was the wrong direction to push the franchise in.

Besides that the digimon anime has declined because off shit handling of the IP, and Xros Wars is a part of that shit handling.
