Man, I'm conflicted about this chapter. On one hand Escanor is great, on the other hand, well, he is too much greater than anyone else. I was okay with him defeating Galan the way he did, but burning Mera in his soul form was a bit to much. It would be better if Ban had just managed to tell him in time and Mera decided to retreat cause he would not fall for her trick.

So far the only thing they managed to beat was random villagers. They jobbed to Meliodas, they sorta jobbed to Ban, they jobbed to Escanor and they jobbed to Mama hawk. I get that they are still weak, but they better start showing why they were considered a threat soon, cause right now I still don't get why Meliodas feared them.

It's wrong to say they jobbed to Ban too, since Merascylla spent the entire battle just watching and blocking Ban's attacks, then instantly defeated him when she finally acted. Galan had a bad match-up against Ban, but would have won had he used Critical Over (but didn't, since there was pretty no chance of him actually losing as Merascylla was right there). The same situation is going on with Fraudrin right now, with him having lost to Deldrey's order, but probably still retaining his composure as his partner was right there just watching everything. It seems like that's the reason why they split up into pairs; so while one engages the enemy, the other can just observe and probe the abilities of their opponent.

And even up to now, it's hard to think that Merascylla or Galan are out for the count. Merascylla told Galan to flee, after all, so there's definitely a method to cure his petrification. Plus, getting burned alive and having her body crumble into ashes? Not even the worst sort of bodily harm we've seen one of the Commandments suffer and survive through. We haven't even seen her power (if spellcasters like her can even have a main power).

The demons haven't really flunked out at all yet. Like Melodias got the jump on them by being full powered when they were still recovering. Ban was never in control of the fight they were just confused as to how he was strong but would have easily won. Galan defeated everyone the first time he showed up and would've killed everyone too if he wasn't a retard for getting Gowther'd.
I mean otherwise it's just Fraudrin pretty much allowing himself to get caught since not even Mel could finish the dick off. We still don't know what happens to Escanor after his power peaks. What is the process he goes through as the sun sets? Eventually he ends up as we see him most of the time, but his appearance might change greatly from noon to dusk.

I think that he ages rapidly, turning into the old man we keep seeing in the wanted posters and such, and his body dies. At midnight, he resurrects as DYEL Escanor and the process repeats. This is the simplest idea, but I think that in addition, there's a period between when he "dies" and resurrects where he is vulnerable - if his corpse is completely destroyed he might not resurrect. That is why Merlin seems to be so concerned about keeping him contained - it's not to protect others against his strength, it's to hide his greatest weakness.

Nakaba's been doing some interesting things with souls in recent chapters. Souls appear to have at least some physical form that can interact with physical things, as well as each other. They also contain Power now (according to this chapter, unless Escanor is a special case), rather than the body itself. I'm curious as to how much more Nakaba is planning on expanding this concept, considering how important it probably ties into Hawk's resurrection.
