Oh wow, China's cultural division just banned a shitload of anime/manga today.
This probably affects next to no one here, but if are ever unable to find early Chinese raws of whatever series you are looking for, well, you know why.
I feel they should, actually. On the one hand they have all these conflicts with Japan and on the other hand they still enjoy these products of Japanese culture. It's like having your cake and eating it too, if you're gonna be mortal enemies with Japan you should reject them entirely.
Because you know, it's not like shit gets translated so fast over there that there are series for where the chinese TLed scans are up before the raw nip ones and are used as the basis for english translations.
Definitely never happened before.
It's pretty much every series outside of shoujos, SOL and Kodomo magazines like CoroCoro
Why is Tokyo ESP on the list ?
Neither china or gookland have as a developed voice acting industry as Japan, obviously people find that the japanese dubs sound better. Therefore it's wrong to attribute it all to the language itself.
Go to Japan and listen to actual Japanese people talk, they don't enunciate for shit and a bunch of girls have the most grating voices imaginable.
Taiwanese sounds better.
Mainland Chinese sounds like shit.
It's because all the educated elites fled after Mao took over and Mao fucked over the educated elites who didn't flee in time and dumbed down everything for all those who remained behind.

Some of these I don't know what grounds would they ban them on. For the record, I know KanColle and Mahouka are banned in the sense that nobody licensed them to begin with and all stream sites are forced to take them down, but it's quite obvious why.
Stop this language shit already. Take it to /int/ or wherever.
>5-7 phonetic vowels(and even more allophones) each with four(five) possible pronunciations
>Can all be combined into crazy diphthongs and triphthongs that also carry different tones
>What makes korean >>> japanese is their superior witing system and no Kanji
>superior writing system
>developed cause they thought it would be too hard for normal people to learn characters (totally still relevant today)
>hangeul calligraphy is a fucking joke, most korean calligraphers still use characters
>Korean kids today can't even read their own history
More like the nips realized how stupid it would be to completely abandon Kanji.
Didn't know Mahouka is banned
It would make sense for the Chinese government to also ban shows that directly competed with ones chinese companies were airing. For example, if a chinese company was airing an almost exact copy of a japanese manga/anime, then it would make sense for the chinese gov't to protect the chinese producers (after some bribes were paid).
Corruption is common practice in china, and outside of corruption, companies hiring the relatives and friends of chinese politicians is very common ways to get protection or to avoid prosecution for certain things.
Chinese knockoffs are common.
>11. Sword Art Online Second Season
If I ruled a country, I'd want to ban that too
But then it might inspire people to actually start their own shitty alternate reality world in rebellion.
It's honestly surprising that they're willing to just censor shit like kancolle when it's essentially revisionist. People should be more outraged that Japan is trying to pull this shit.
I dunno about Filipino.
My parents used it a lot and I suppose if I had any word to describe how it sounded from them, how it sounded from my seventh grade teacher, and how it sounded from my parent's friends,
It would be hysterical. That's the word I'll use.
Just how freaking big is this list.

Apparently banned for violence, murder, pornography, and terror ( )
I'm Chinese mandarin and that shit sounds pretty bad indeed. Usually children's cartoons are dubbed with that specific kind of voice.
Check out Prince of Tennis's chinese dub, I think it's actually OK
Taiwan doesn't YET.
HK's totally China's bitch now, especially China has blatantly ignored the Sino-British Joint Declaration and told Britain to STFU.
Taiwan will totally be China's bitch soon too.
Yeah, trying to get hide Chinese and Japanese influences totally makes sense when you have to convince yourself that Korea has any culture of their own that isn't k-pop or esports. Or the fact that they were china's lapdog up until the first sino-japanese war when they became Japans lapdog until WWII.
I'm Chinese and this is intentionally bad
China HAET skeletons.
They also are buying out my country (Canada) and turning it into a third world shithole in record time.
What a garbage country filled with people who haven't been relevant in over a thousand years.
>implying 7:17-7:21 isn't the best
My great grandfather died on Juno for nothing
>What a garbage country filled with people who haven't been relevant in over a thousand years.
Is a westerner seriously getting angry that China is ruining their country? It's not like decades of western imperialism and exploitation ever happened.
I'm also sure that fighting the United states to a standstill in the korean war counts as not being relevant in the past century, or being the worlds second largest economy.
Second largest paper tiger that is turning itself into a polluted desert and ready to explode in a giant over due political, party, and peasant cull.
It also has no ability to project force which means it is highly limited on the world stage. China is a shithole.
Also porn is banned and the State is in everything you do from business to your bedroom.
>I just listened to some of it on Youtube. Sounds soft but reminds me too much of Arabic. It's better than pigtongue though.
Then you must be listening to music then because Filipino vocals does sound smoothed out only when they sing.
Outside music Filipino sound has enough "grit" like Japaense or Spanish when it's used casually or formally.
A political move, most likely. Will affect those who buy blurays and stuff, but those who get animu through internet - hardly.
Rusfag here, btw. Not long ago our analogue of 'cultural division' equaled ecchi and hentai to child porn
(since it's "putting an image of a child in a sexual context blablabla"). I'm not sure what motivated our politicians - whether it was a sort of 'revenge' for Japan's Ukraine-related sanctions, or it's just them being brain-addled hypocrites they are, but the fact is: it didn't affect people who know how to use internet.
So, I guess, it's something similar in China's case.
>Not watching anime for little girls
Anon, she's the second season's main heroine...
