Again, no one expected or wanted the anime to be some masterpiece. What people wanted was some development to characters that were kept back by the online game where you can only draw from their lines, and instead we got said lines regurgitated back in a terrible fashion. People wanted good action scenes and actual animation, instead we got lazy shots of the girls shooting and standing still. People wanted a story and world a bit more expanded on and none of that was given.

Everything about the anime was terribly done. It's not even the fact that they followed all the cliches and formulas of every anime/movie/show ever, it's that they did it in awful fashion. Diomedia and staff want to make a generic anime? Fine, go for it. At least do it right though.

Honestly one of the main charm points that's lost in the anime, which is a signature part of both the game and the official 4koma is that in both of those, the ships actually know their own history. It's a promised land of both dramatic and joke material.

Honestly if you take away the history of, say, 6th DesDiv, they're just four girls with dumb personality quirks: failed lady, kind girl, tomboy and спасибо. Which is fine if all you really wanted from the show is meme girls doing meme things. (After the fact we can see that the people who expected more, such as myself, were delusional tards.)

But some people actually liked the fact that Hibiki was the phoenix rising from the ashes and the last survivor of the 6th DesDiv, that despite Akatsuki being a fucking poser she manned (ladied) up and fired up her searchlights when it counted, and Ikazuchi ran a rescue operation in the Java Sea at great personal expense. If you actually don't give two shits about the history then the game itself is just a dreadfully boring girl combat simulator.

Its Diomedea, the studio that gave us Mondijitachi. The expectations from them on top of having one of the Nanoha directors in it was hoping for a decent action-series that would flesh out some of characters who LNs and various manga works haven't had the chance to touch on yet.

The anime was disjointed, convoluted, bad CGI renders and models, and the final episode was even worse to the point most of the rankings on Pixiv, Nico Nico, and other sites have pinned it as the nail in the coffin for the anime's failing.

The only hope here with season 2 is that Diomedea and Kadokawa picked up on said failings and avoid them for the sequel season.

I give you that but as mentioned earlier I didn't expect the show to be any good. I expected it to be bad but fun. And it (mostly) did deliver on the latter.

I hope the next season will stay clear of any traces of drama. It could have a much better "flow" should they stop trying to balance between sol and deep.

It didn't deliver much fun outside of episodes 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. I wasn't expecting the CGI to be great but wrong models and incomplete renders is a bit too much.
