Circumstances changed, they had both grown up, the relationship wasn't the same as it was when they were children and the largest issue was his girlfriend and the other women that had gathered around him. She literally started to go crazy because they grew up, that's it. The whole thing was just a big "No! Things aren't allowed to change!" autism fit.

It's literally acknowledged in the light novels that the only redeeming feature about Nadeko is her cuteness. Everything else about her is frankly hopeless.
