Why doesn't /a/ like shoujo?
most shoujos are painfully slow have piss poor romance. I love romance, but I can only watch a girl spilling spaghetti for the five hundredth time if the series offers something else to make up for it.
I actually appreciate a bunch of stuff about shojo, like that everything isn't about being strong or clever. The stories can be a little slower and some of the ways they handle "what women should do" makes me sad but it's definitely a nice change from shonen/seinen
This. It's not often thar doesn't have any of that
I like shoujo. It's one of the few genres that tends to, at the very least, get a good kiss in after a potential year's worth of interaction.
It's just when the male love interest is fucking superman that I drop the show.
I've seen a shoujo starring a raging tomboy and a sensitive guy with girly interests as the main couple, and it was still shit because all it did was focus on the wacky hijinks of their bishie friends
That romance though
Its predictable. the only way to move the plot along is by introducing another boy. Literally every character is an ignorant fuck that doesn't give a shit about the main female characters feelings.
Sturgeon's law applies to shoujo too. There are some titles that are enjoyable though.
Can we talk about Ao Haru Ride and the perfection that is Kou?
>not being able to enjoy a wide variety of anime
Most of it's stupidly innocent. If the cast was full of pre-teens, their behaviour would be somewhat realistic. With late-teens, it's fucking stupid and cringe-worthy.
I want a shoujo series with a female protagonist who isn't a complete fucking wallflower and actually deals with ongoing sexual relationships between her and the rest of her friends/lovers.
I do often wonder how retarded the writers think young Japanese girls are. Apparently very much so since they not only present some idealized dream guy, but also the main relationship is ridiculously chaste. You'd be lucky to see them hold hands once every ten chapters, and god forbid they kiss, real couples only do that when Haley's Comet can be seen from Earth.
Same applies to shounen though. The MC is only allowed to kiss a girl if it's the end of the series and once that is done they're bound together for eternity.
Yeah, but at least shounen typically has the dignity of not actually having the main couple be a couple before that point. Shoujo can literally have them declaring their love every other chapter and never physically expressing it.
>Call me when there's another strong female character in the cast.
You should give this a try.
Ao Haru Ride was painfully mediocre. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Everything about it was boring, the reactions of the characters were boring, the events were boring. I don't really remember much from it, except I know that the guy the main character accidentally groped will be best boy later.
Why don't girls and fags enjoy harem and fan service heavy SoL? What a stupid questions. The only remotely decent shoujo are the ones where the couple is already married from the get go, and even then it's hardly a shoujo and more of a SoL comedy featuring a married couple.
B-but she can change him! She's special like that and totally not like the other girls he humped and dumped!
I love when people shit on how awful romance is in haremshit and shonen, as if shoujo romance is even remotely decent.
Yes, and thus will not feature anything that alienates and displeases that audience. Which means it won't offer anything to anyone who doesn't have the mindset of a tween girl.
Because it has been confirmed by deleted threads with pretty much the same opening post as yours, that a fat hambeast like yourself keeps samefagging and making these threads and filling them with her tumblrshit, OP, so go fuck yourself.
The original Sailor Moon anime was much, much better.
Based Ikuhara making the lesbians relevant and interesting
For the record! I don't like girls. But I would...If it was Haruka. I still melt.
I Had good childhood memories of this show.
Maybe it's because I'm a
pure maiden at heart, but I enjoyed it a lot. It's not really eventful or plot driven, but rather it's about the little moments and feelings you get from watching and having the characters learn and mature. I just love watching pure and clumsy high school romances.
>For the record! I don't like girls.
>I discovered my inner lesbian in that show too.
Whatever you've got to tell you'reself, anon.
Men don't like sluts, but they sure do like their bodies. So you have to have a body of a slut, but not be a slut. Guys are complicated, it's all eyes, eyes and yes down. They just go, boobs! And nothing else matters.
>Women don't mind sluts
Mate, you obviously know fuck all about women. Almost all the slut-shaming in the west comes from women who don't like having to compete, so they try and shame other women into monogamous relationships.
Casual sex? You're a filthy slut/whore/etc
I like Onegai Teacher. Initially, it wasn't the kind of stuff one would expect, but it turned out quite good. If you are "into" that sort of stuff. I kinda opened my mind to a broader aspect of relationships. I mean, why shouldn't a woman have a younger husband?
Stuff you should read. Yes, I am a male.
American Ghost Jack.
Kindan no Koi wo Shiyou
For more mature female readers.
"Kindan" or "Toriko - Aigan Shoujo" By the female Mangaka OSAKABE Mashin.
Diabolik Lovers. The only confirmed harem that the female MC has sex with almost all of them. In some situations, more than one at the same time. But at that point, it's Polyandry rather than harem.
Since, they are all brothers.
What? You don't like chocolate?
Don't tell me you wouldn't do a nubian beauty.
>she doesn't self-insert as a male instead of a female
>she doesn't like cute yaoi
You can only self-insert as the cute boy if he's being woo'ed by another cute boy.
I always pickup the shoujo anime of the season because they usually have good OPs, and the side character romance sub plots are usually better then the main one. it's also a good reminder that any female charter with out a name is a two faced back stabbing gossiping whore.
The only shoujo I have enjoyed reading is Fruit Basket because Horse girl is hot as fuck.
Too bad the author must go full SUFFERING and decided to cut her hair off.
Neo /a/ don't like shoujo.
Old /a/ fags was all about the shoujo and josei
See D.N.Angel threads for recent example.
or you can go oldschool with Princess Sarah though it's SoL it's still aimed at girls.
yeah, I'm that old
I usually don't like shoujos, because their not aimed at my tastes, duh.
As with all things, there are exceptions, though. I actually like to watch the show of your picture, Ookami Shoujo, for example, because the setup of a naïve, unwittingly masochist girl falling for some douchebag alpha male and submitting to be his loyal dog despite all the shit he puts her through appeals to me. As a matter of fact, I'm kinda surprised it appeals to women as well and was actually written with them in mind, considering how much the premise sounds like your avarage male-targeted hentai.
I guess I should stop conflating "stuff that SJW feminist tumblrtards like" with "stuff normal well-adjusted women" like, or should I? SJW outrage over Ookami Shoujo was a fun thing to behold, at least.
So many lesbians but most of them look like guys.
But I do, anon. Once your average anon has posted and watched anime long enough the start to love shoujo/jousei. A good story/drama beats screaming muscleblob soliloquy, any day.
Some of them are really good and some are just really fucking garbage, Ookami shoujo is pretty interesting because the male lead was bit of a "bad boy" but then turned into a softie, But then you get one like Ao Haru Ride which just puts me to sleep.
Things aimed at young women are mostly consumed by young women
He was perfect only in middle school.
>Main guy is most of the time a douche with muh sad past
>MC is always a cute bland girl that is always worrying over the littlest thing
>Best boy never wins
>Never ending drama
Why do people like this crap?
>Love interest isn't the same cookie cutter angsty douchebag on the beginning
>time skip happen and he become a cookie cutter angsty douchenag for the rest of the manga
I hate this shit so much.
Because women want to fuck the douche with a sad past. Best boy is actually worst boy under a female perspective, he listen to the FeMC and care about her feelings what make him into friend material, not boyfriend material like the douche.
What do you think about women complaining about haremshit?
Shoujo is watched for cuteness and sex appeal too, except it appeals to a diferent audience
Because it's targeted towards young women. I know this may be a difficult thing to understand, but apparently there's a fuck mess of research in fields ranging from math to sociology to psychology to marketing that shows that men and women like different things.
That's all there is to it.
exploratory narrative>expository writing>poetry?strict narrative prose>>>>>actually dying>>>>>>>romance based narrative
Unless there is a heavy dose of comedy involved you can keep your small-minded melodrama to yourself.
Because (1) there's almost no Josei to watch and (2) when there is, you get shit like Otona Joshi Anime time about old hags who wish for divorce. Which you might even praise for being realisitc, but why would anyone want to watch that kind of shit?
Why watch Josei when I could be watching Harem?
Isn't that just like in real world?
Not that anon, but most faggots here just want to bro with the Tanuki or fuck Female Inugami/Kokkuri. That's not exactly the same thing most female viewers want to do.
They want to fuck Kokkuri, be taken in a manly manner by Tanuki, or for Inugami to stop being creepy.
yeah, shonen magazine makes it shonen but clearly the demographic it sells to mostly are females.
You can say the same about the second half of the volumes of D-Gray Man.
Some female mangaka go to shonen magazine publishers because they know it sells more and are more likely to get an anime adaption over a shoujo magazine.
The intended demographic still stands as women
>Ookami shoujo is pretty interesting because the male lead was bit of a "bad boy" but then turned into a softie
Ohh, you mean like every clichéd shoujo trash written in the last 15 years?
>you will never know the pleasure of being judged by your abusive hot boyfriend's bitchy onee-san
>main girl is most of the time a bitch with muh complex
>mc is always a bland guy with no redeeming quality
>best girl never wins
>never ending drama
It is the same with the other demographic.
Somebody here have read Mars by Fuyumi Soryo?
I thought it was some cliché shoujo or whatever but it turns out it's actually good.
It's not only centered in the romance but it talks about a lot of other stuff like motorcycle races, sociopaths and even rape.
Also, shounen magazines give more freedom than shoujo manga. If a female author wants to make a manga not about a high school romance between an average girl and a douche, her only choice is to move to a shounen/seinen magazine. It wasn't like that on the past but shoujo editors don't allow variety anymore
>series is completely romance focused
>main character just wants to make friends
>shuts down all advances and ruins people lives by leading them on
It's not rape if the girl wants it, it's every girls dream to play hard to get with a hot guy then get fucked hard
I haven't watched many shoujo but the male lead at least started off different than most but yeah they all turn into softies.
Also the best one I've watched is Sukitte il na yo, That was some good shit.
How do you feel about shoujo archtypes in non-shoujo shit?
But I do. There are plenty of shoujo I like, and plenty I don't like. The ones I don't like are the generic, melodramatic, cliched trash (as is the same with any demographic). The series in your OP is the kind of shit shoujo I avoid, despite that one having had a promising start.
Angry slut detected.
Often the girl is fucked against her will, despite she likes it anyway. Shoujo writers are huge purityfags so their heroines can't enjoy the act of sex, they just want to hold hands but the male lead is too alpha for accept a no
The same could be said of all media. I think it's worth it.
But I'm not gay, and even if I was, I wouldn't want a 3DPD husband.
No thanks, we shouldn't risk losing our wizard powers.
It all comes down to the japanese mentality. Females don't interact much with men other than their fathers and that's saying much. I don't think they can actually portray, considering they are from a much formal culture, the loosened behavior of a western woman which is closely related to prostitutes and loud and rude behavior from the humble japanese.
It is not due to bad, or lack of experience, but from an native point of view, all shoujo and dating steps are well formalized in the hopes of continuing the sacred traditions of acquiring a proper and honorable husband.
It is not meant for foreign women to understand, for they lack the skills and atributes of the japanese woman and her honorable craft and education.
please current day japenese girls act like western sluts
>It all comes down to the japanese mentality.
Please tell me more about how much you've learned about Nip culture and values from those Vietnamese cartoons you watch.
