Why don't more anime draw their characters to actually look japanese?
Why can't americans draw their characters to look actually look american?
She looks Japanese to me.
Also the squinty eyed looked is considered unattractive in Japan and in fact, asian culture in general.
Because Japanese people are ugly.
Do you really want ugly people in your anime?
Because its unattractive, and the Japanese don't like reminders of how ugly they are.
That being said, Mushishi did a very good job of portraying faces while still being slightly stylized.
OK, somebody explain ganguro girls to me.
Those aren't Ganguro girls.
Pic related is.
There's not much to explain, apart from them being an easy lay, and basically non-existent anymore.
A bunch of Japanese girls and women try becoming the complete opposite of traditional japanese women.
Dark skin, dyed hair, colorful shit in their outfits and wild hair. Like a mountain goblin.
>implying american cartoons are drawn to look like americans
I always figured it was their weird, Japanized attempt to look like American dumb, blonde, LA style whores. They think it's glamorous.
I mean what do you want, though? They are fucking teenage girls. Nothing they do or like makes any sense if you think about it too much.
Because modern anime use the same anatomy of 3DCG Disney (see >>116735972): Big eyes and heads with small mouth.
It's far more palatable to the common consumer; anyone with half a brain can tell Jin-Roh faces are ugly, meanwhile anime of pseudo-Disney faces gets some popularity
I mean it's sort of hard to find female examples since Wolf Brigade is mostly just about 2 characters but it isn't like they couldn't take some artistic license and model characters off the kind of girls in nip idol groups who definitely don't suffer from the squinty eyes.
That's kogal. Think of girls who wear ganguro more like the people who go full on gothic. They were going against conventional beauty standards and doing their own thing. The majority of people don't find it attractive and they know it.
Kogal is, however, attempting to attractive in the same manner as slutty bimbos in your highschool were.
Outside of some movies (Jin-Roh or Satochi Kon) Anime dont want realistic characters.
Japanses faces are objectively ugly and make people look creepy, there's no reason to have them in a medium which relies on the idea of perfection so much.
