need your opinion, this is my first 3d animation completle made in maya with a bit after effects correction. does it fel sad?
I want to make models like the one on a picture, isnt she sweet :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6utqMjz5RM&feature=youtu.be
>>509694
I feel like the feet are clipping through the floor and the ending is incomplete. I also think the overall animation is horrible.
well thank you for your honesty :) yes they clip through the floor
we had to make an animation that lasts 30 second... my task was to begin with a diamond and end with a girl:) ALSO THERE ARE TWO EASTER EGGS or how you call them, STAR WARS EASTER EGGS TRY TO FIND THEM
If you want to get better at animating do the 11 second club challenge each month. If you want to get better at character modeling, I would recommend modeling real life figures first.
so that is what they are called 11 second :D good advice you give :) i've been modeling a bit, real life figures as well but need to practice more. this caracter is just a cartoonish guy from somewhere you know :D
>>509703
thats not a requirement from a rigger isn't?
>>509737
as far as i know you can be good at : modeling : rigging : texturing : animating : setting cameras : scripting etc... though i know its better to be good at one thing, im still going to master most of those till unreal engine where i need to make my own Ai :D behaivior trees etc :D
>>509743
>till unreal engine where i need to make my own Ai :D behaivior trees etc :D
you mean some basic if statements?
>>509744
yes, basic :D
>>509694
That character is really cute but I have the sneaking suspicion that she has the 2D face syndrome.
>>509747
2D face syndrome? I think she is completele 3d :D that would not make sense... she is there are other pictures of her she is 3D but yeah she is flat :D
>>509753
I mean, only looks good under certain angles.
In cartoons, animated or comics, the face changes depending of the angle. It couldn't look the same from the front and the side.
>>509703
got this a a real life figure :)
>>509754
see she isnt 2d
Yinxuan LI DEZARMENIEN
>>509759
I want to see a shot of her from the side, at 90* or more.
>>509762
come on . don't you see? she has 3d nose ... she is flat but not 2d, just flat :D
>>509694
it's a start, but you should focus on simpler assignments to begin with
It's a really charming and beautifully done model.
That's the reason why I won't watch the animation.
I like her in the still images and the animation might ruin my opinion on her.
Anyway, very well tone.
>>509764
I know she is an arrangement of vertices, edges and faces.
The question is whether that arrangement looks good from the side.
>>509764
Also, who's the artist ?
actual footage from video
>>509766
>mfw you didnt even read Ops post
>>509759
About that picture, I have a few questions for anyone that's knowledgeable about it.
In the final render, the bad deformations at the wrists are gone. What is that magic ?
The rendered shots also look far more vibrant and life-like. What is it that the viewport materials can't bring out yet the renderer can ?
>>509823
>make tweaks
WIP on the left and finished image on the right
>>509824
So it's nothing like a good SSS or something of the like ?
That means then that it would look horrible if animated, since so many tweaks are needed. That must be why the eye color changes a bit
>>509694
calm those camera movement, make them subtle, not super fast.
>>509833
good point, I have to work on timing as well :)
>>509769
>simpler assignments ?
model a cool looking cartoon character, render a photorealisitc still life, do 5 seconds of great animation, you name it.
"it's not about how high you set the bar, it's about getting past it", or whatever the english equivalent of the phrase is
It's very good that you were motivated enough to do one short film and finish it though
>>509918
That's good talking :) for a cartoon character I would prefer to make some sketches, front side view, it has to be good looking, catching the eye, but not too complicated... then I guess the better renderer and materials the better it looks, for material its all about TEXSTURE DEFUSE NORMAL MAPS? and render settings ? and what RENDERED you propose?
Screen doesn't glow when without light directed? SO many nuancec in maya, in 3D
>>509927
yes, So how do you make it glow in the dark. hmmm don't know yet
>>509928
Use the incandescence attribute on the shader.
>>509959
Thank YOU :) Here is another light setting, what do you think? I think its better casue main objects are lit and other just visible a bit... Also need to check character path so its vvell enough visible
Hello there, I've edited my video, I've changed lights, camera and quality. What do you think, did I improve ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KppXv1Z4tpQ
>>509702
I'm looking VERY HARD but I don't find any
I request hints
>>510796
One is on a shelf another behind boxes :)
>>510799
You can see both on the first video, on the second you can barely see one :)
>>510790
From a professional perspective I'd say you obviously still have a lot to learn
From a human POV I find this little guy very charming
>>510796
Ok I got the Millenium Falcon
Still looking for the other one
>>510802
NICE, actually first man to find it, no one found it, my friends don't find it challanging :(
>>509769
Oh so she's the one who made all this shit.
>>510851
What do you call shit? All? She? I was sure it was a guy, eh :)
>>510790
I recognise that sound. It's a bridge sound effect from TNg, isn't it?
>>510790
Tone down the floating on the girl, since you tossed Star Wars in:
https://youtu.be/MCLXfLy8CAE?t=1m14s
Try and copy his slow movement, even the jerk he does is slowed down considerably.
>>510863
Bridge sound? no, there is no bridge sound :) STAR WARS doors, washing machine and SPACE SOUND :) and some electrionic sounds, no bridge
>>510873
Feel so dump since I forgot about this scene, THANK YOU! That's kind of help I was looking for, since I already passed the subject, this animation isn't my prioriety but I hope I will find time and do as you say, work more :)
>:)
>:D
>:(
Every single post. You're pretty new, aren't you? Also, as far as modeling goes, you should probably do some figure studying. Definitely work on more fluid looking movement.
>>509823
>deformations
Subdivision surfaces would be my guess, though if you look closely the poses do not match exactly. Maybe the wips are earlier versions.
>materials
Shadows, subsurface scattering, photon mapping, basically everything that has to do with light transport. Viewports should render fast so it's literally just basic lighting model calculation, like Phong reflection model or whatever.
>>509702
Sorry, but he animation is too ugly for multiple views, but not trying to be condescending, I've made worse animation in my starting days....
