I saw this and no one knows what it is. It's not a wolf or coyote and the downed tree it was standing behind was about 18". What that means is the face of it was about 18" from jaw to ears. Now if you own a dog get a ruler and have your dog look forward and see if it's that big.

I was vacationing in Miami in the 90s when chupa hit the mainstream news. My family was chilling in our hotel room watching TV, and they kept flashing a sketch of it in the "upcoming news" commercials/ bumpers. It was the horrifying version - bipedal, hunched over, fangs, spikes out the back, gaunt, big red eyes - some said it could fly, others said it could jump really high. Not the mangy dog version. Sightings were reported in Florida. My brother said told me they traveled in packs.

That shit traumatized me. Why the fuck did the 10 o'clock news have to show that at all, let alone KEEP SHOWING it? The 90s were awesome and scary as shit for cryptozoology and aliens.

I would look it up on the internet, the web being fairly new at the time, and I would set my browser to not load images. It took me until a couple years ago to get over it and just do a Google image search. Couldn't find the exact image they kept flashing on the news but did find ones that were close enough.

One thing I learned a while ago though was that apparently 'goat sucker' didn't originally refer to them sucking blood. They were a legendary creature that would be found sucking milk from goats. Still creepy a hell but an interesting fork in the zeitgeist.
