Whats allegedly are the two other polaroids of Tara Calico have been released apparently, pic related: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/6ykf7t/tara_calico_two_other_photos_released/

The other new one seems legit as it's in the same place as the one that's been released for years. You can see details of the van/bedding etc.

I don't get the redditors saying she looks playful or happy there. It looks like he's being quite forceful and that she has something on her eyes.

The window outside shows no scenery and it looks like they have some legroom so could it be an Amtrak II overnight train? I'm trying to work out what the deal is with the lack of curtains and the steel ripples on the left.

I do. I get the impression that the people in that photo are playacting without any real force involved. The guy is obviously overly pleased and apparently not worried at all that the woman might struggle or free herself, and the woman is striking a pose that seems more dramatic than appropriate for the situation as if she's posing specifically for the camera.

Plus, how reasonable is it to assume that a kidnapper would transport his *bound and gagged* victims around on a public train? I think this is really just a photo of two friends or even a couple goofing around.
>>
>>19580356
From the lack of blurring on the ppl in pic and the motion blur of the window scenery- i guesstimate around 80 km/h i think. Whats that thing in front of them that reminds me on a big smartphone (phablet) ?
Anyways, this scene strikes me as anything but staged or playful. Notice his facial expression, none of them looks into the cam.
Private cabin in a night-train?

Look at his viewline, and i think shes straing against the row in front.

If that is goofing around for you i cant help but wonder.

she's literally "tied up" with tissue paper

Something strange about the other photos btw.

>>19580383
I still think it looks like the guys being pretty damn forceful. I would have thought this would have limited the amount of possible trains too, there were only a hundred or so nationwide so in any given area by the late eighties you probably only had a handful of possible journeys this could have been taken on. I'm not convinced this is Calico tho.

I can't work out where they are in the train tho from here http://www.craigmashburn.com/amtrakcardiagrams.html

It looks like they should be at the back, but I can't match the details of the layouts with the reflections in the windows.

>Whats that thing in front of them that reminds me on a big smartphone (phablet) ?
I believe that's a glasses case, but could be a big ol coin purse too.
>>
>>19580445
I don't understand what you're saying, sorry.
>>
>>19580478
I think they're saying the guy isn't looking at her like they're goofing around, he's staring off elsewhere. And her feet seem to be pushing against the seats in front
>>

You need to take this. I'm not even memeing and I am sincerely sorry if you're offended. I promise you that absolutely everything of what we can see of that woman's face and body language indicates she is playing around and that should be readily apparent to you if you're socially well-adjusted.
>>
>>19580490
I see. Well, yeah, the guy is striking a pose just as much as she is (in his case, he's miming a maniac), and I'm not really seeing any (genuine) struggle in the way her feet are positioned. If anything, it looks like she's deliberately keeping her legs crossed to uphold the effect of being bound, even though the material that was meant to keep her legs together (for the photo, mind you) has evidently dropped to the floor.

Seriously, I find it bizarre that so many people are seeing genuine distress in this picture. It even looks like the woman is holding exactly the kind of material that her wrists have been bound with in her left hand. This is, quite frankly, goofy as fuck. Just people having fun.

i remember those, it's a women's wallet, snaps closed at top. used to hold cigs etc etc
>>

I know polaroids were much more popular in the 80's, but the fact it was once the only way to take a photo without having to let other people see them (photolabs etc) unless you home developed of course, makes it seem quite sinister

Really, dude? When that pic was taken, with a Polaroid, the flash lit up the whole corner of that train car. Plus the noise/buzz of the pic being shot out of the camera. Also, everything on the fold down table in front of them is casual stuff: soda can, sunglasses, coin purse, cigarettes. This isn't a kidnapping. That "Kevin Costner" stunt double couldn't threaten anyone with those spindly arms. He looks like an adult chaperone or a school teacher on a high school trip. That's why she's "bound" with toilet paper. Because this is only a form of mental/play bondage, between a teacher and a student.
>>
>>19578514

Looks like he joyfully punched her in the Stomach and she's in pain.
>>
>>19580888
Oh, yeah, I completely agree. Sorry if it came across like I was saying this was some sort of kidnapping lmao. I was just trying to say that the fact it was on a polaroid makes it seem 'gritty' if you get me

I actually have a polaroid, I literally only use it to take photos of my gf because I wouldn't want to take them to a photo lab
>>
>>19580546
>Seriously, I find it bizarre that so many people are seeing genuine distress in this picture.
You can't really see her face to read her expression. Remember as well, the context of this picture is supposedly one of three that depict someone with a striking resemblance to Calico out of hundreds of other photos and images shown/found according to the family. One that was withheld from the public which often indicates law enforcement and prosecutors think it potentially contains relevant evidence should a perp be found. It's important to note tho that the local police were piles of shit and the sherriff may have believed he was covering up for his son.

My hunch is that it's something like a bdsm/voyeur type of pic: slightly kinky fooling around in the empty compartment of a night train. Just from the pic it looks to me like he's being pretty forceful, grabbing her neck and pulling up her shirt. Combined with the tissue restraints it's like soft humiliation porn and the sort of bollocks that people might share. It might be totally innocent fucking around tho, which you would hope considering the kid in the other photos.
>>
>>19578514
Im doubtful its legit, why release them now? The first one that was apparently found came out a few months after her disappearance? If she truly was kidnapped and some serial killer wanted to taunt investigators. If they had a perfect photo of the guy, why wait this long?

how does this not look posed?

no expression on his eyes. mouth shows fake scream. his arms are clearly relaxed, not flexed or clenched or contracted, which would have been the case had he been trying to restrain someone.
>>
Okay, nice comments everybody, but why does anybody think this is Tara Calico? You can't see her face.
>>
>>19583554
Doesnt matter. If she is, fine. If not, maybe find out about some other maybe unknown .
>>
That's fucking tissue paper. No one is being restrained here.
>>
>>19583554
She supposedly has a scar on her right leg that appears as a patch of discoloration (that was a big thing in the van picture). I have never been able to make out that detail on either picture though, I would guess because they're poorly scanned or something.
>>
>>19580383
This. There's zero chance you're getting a kidnap victim, bound and gagged, through the rail system without anyone noticing. At the very least you will have contact with a conductor every few stations.

This girl doesn't look a thing like Tara Calico. Her hair isn't thick or dark. The Calico girl didn't have glasses. Or a watch.

>>
>>19585744
No it isn't.
>>
>>19580383
who took the photo
>>
>>19585662
The family believe that to be her or someone who looks like her. I can't see the resemblance much myself, but if you look at some of the details around it does appear to be the inside of the van in >>19585668

Pic related was sent from Albuquerque NM (around where her bike and walkman were found, they were pretty much exactly between Belen (her hometown) and Albuquerque) to the Fort St Joe, Florida police where the pictures were found on the 20th anniversary of Calico's disappearance. Another couple of photos, including an unadulterated one of the boy, were also sent to a Fort St Joe newspaper iirc. I do believe something weird is going on with this, but with both.
