This was a difficult one to phrase, so I did a general future reading, and if that ended up bad, the reasons or cause behind it.

thank you! i honestly do feel like dumping all my time and forgetting about my real life is something i'd do. i'll keep this in mind. but yeah, it's inspired by games i hold near and dear to my heart. i wanted to combine the gameplay of stardew valley with the writing of disgaea and make a farming game where you play as a demon in the netherworld.

i feel like it'd open a lot of creative doors, since in the netherworld, you can pretty much do anything. you're not having a real world setting holding you back, anything's possible if you're a demon. i wanted to make unique netherworldy crops for it, and include a random dungeon feature, where you can go dungeon crawling for rare items, and hire people to tag along with you. i was planning on having it replacing the generic farm game mine feature at first, but maybe it'd be cool to include both. either way, i wanna take full advantage of the netherworld setting and hold absolutely nothing back.

I don't speak all that much Old Norse, and as much as it allows for a greater understanding of the original source texts, it's not a necessity in this day and age. The first step would be to go read The Viking Spirit, it's a great introduction to Norse religion and myth. A lot of the runes are tied up in it, and to get their full meaning and understanding you have to know where it sat in the Norse way of life as a whole.

At least that's where I started, I am by no means a "Rune Master" and there's others who frequent in here who are a lot more knowledgeable than I on the topic of Elder Futhark

My method of divination is particularly different from the rest, hence why i often read with few cards but give a good substance in comparative, i dont use spreads.

From there, you should have an easy 2-3 months worth of reading at an easy pace. You'll want to read Viking, then Poetic, then Prose, then reread Viking. Not necessary. I was fortunate enough to have ON courses offered when I was in grad school, so I took all of them and signed up for independent study seminars with the professor, but that's not necessary. You can read to yourself just fine.

Really there's only so much we can tell you, you need to do your own readings and research. The biggest works of christianity on Norse religion isn't its demonisation of Vikings, but instead their subtle influence in their religion; christinaity is exceptionally skilled at taking preexisting religions and weaving in christian ideals and imagery for ease of conversion in later generations. The Poetic and Prose Edda are examples, as >>19192924 said Norse myths and religious practices were seldom if ever written down, and it was only after the religion was no long widely practiced that these books were written.

So, do your own research, come to your own conclusions on your beliefs within the Norse religion (the religion was extremely contradictory, even when being practiced, and it's part of what I love about it), and like all things in life don't take everything you read as truth. After you've got an insight into the workings of Vikings and the Norse religion/life you can move onto researching the Elder Futhark. The ground work will allow you to have a much easier time understanding the runes, and their place in the time when the religion was alive and practice, giving you better understanding of how they translate into our current age

I was trying to sort out who's doing divination, and the do's and the not do's of each reader but I better state my questions and the first one who wants to read, takes it. They are two.
