I agree that divination requires a level of analysis and interpretation but everyone's technique differs. Spread count, placement priority, orientation, definition, and more can and can not play into a reading depending on the diviner. High spread counts are more detailed but more technical to read. I have to agree with Thot, single card spreads are beyond just low resolution, you could only know a single facet of something probably broad and there's no narrative dimension to read into. You just can't go anywhere with one card, you might as well close your eyes and scry it. This is laughably straightforward, use meditation. I see a warrior meditating and envisioning his body becoming steel. There is a cartoonish sun over his head, indicating that your meditation should likewise focus on controlling your braib's production of endorphins, specifically dopamine. I don't have any resources for you iffhand, but they shouldn't be too hard to find if you look diligently.

There's also something about Chinese philosophy that should be helpful, but I can't identify it. I think it refers to the works of Lao Tse. You'll need to read that and find something that sticks out to you, as a form of meditation aid. I'm not sure what exactly, and I can't get much more detail due to lack of familiarity with Chinese philosophy.

What else...meditate on palm trees being blown by wind and bending without cracking. There's something about taking punches in such a way to allow distributed absorption of force instead of strong localized impact, something about malleability. "Soft to be strong," or something like that.

This should give you a good starting point. Meditate and hit the books.

So he's out of town for his birthday and idk if we've known each other long enough for me to make a grand gesture like investing a lot of time into making something.
