The only criteria that a being has to meet to be defined as godlike / higher / ascended is that they have to be comprised of a vast amount of energy. Now if this being was sentient in any convential way that we could understand it would take any form it desires.

Formless. If the entity gets a form, you'll proceed to have an image inside your head. So I'd say it would stay formless and incomprehensible, UNLESS it frames/designed you to understand/comprehend it.

humanoid, fire-like, pure light or not visible at all. I'm agnostic but I'm more inclined towards god's descriptions and manifestations in the bible, even if it's some other supreme being unrelated to what christians and religious people believe, i like to think that's what it would "look" like

Pretty much this. Any godlike being that could exist only needs to have 1 more dimension than our 4 dimensional universe.
A 5-d being (4 space, 1 time) would be omnipotent, as no form of energy/mass would be able to touch them and we would only experience their 3-dimensional shadow. (much like this 3-d universe we cast 2-d shadows). They would be able to warp space to their will.
5-d (3 space, 2 time) would be omniscient as they could actually travel back and forth through time and be unaffected by passage of time in this universe.
