I have a (former) friend that can be the most charming, generous and sweet person you'll ever meet but when you have a conflict with him his huge ego is revealed. He has a very sharp wit, a extreme conviction in that he's always right and his go-to response whenever you give him criticism is to "flip the switch" and make you feel like YOU are in the wrong, to the point where you want to almost apologize to him. I always left our arguments with a deflated feeling, and weeks later I get bottled up anger rising to the surface which I didn't even know I had. Like, I get angry to the point of blind fury and I want to scream and hit something.
