>ITT spookiest games you've played
Pic related. Can't wait for the second one!
Spookys House of Jumpscares
>go in e/x/pecting cheap meme game like FNAF
>all meh for the first 2 minutes
>shit gets real and chased by actual creatures
>legit story at the end
>those retro arcade games
surprisingly good especially consing its a F2P
>tfw you realize you don't need jump scares for a game to be scary
Silent Hills would have been great, but judging by P.T., there would have been a possibility they would overuse jump scares.
Either way, Silent Hill 3 is pretty fucking scary.
Games are not scary at all. They are startling, yeah, but not scary. I hate jump scares because they're so cheap it blows my mind. Anyone can be startled and be someone that startles. It's stupid.
Say what you want about the fanbase or the pacifist route being too preachy, but genocide route is easily the most horrifying and the best written route of the game.
I love this board. Rule of rose is one of my favourites even though it sucks as a game.
the sad thing is that the world seems to have forgotten about it but i see this here in every game thread. you guys are the best.
Fatal Frame 1, 2, 3 literally the spookiest game I've played
Forbidden Siren 1, 2
Silent Hill 1, 2, 3
Penumbra 1, 2 (the third one is a shitty puzzle game)
Call of Cthulhu
Resident Evil (I recommend the HD remaster)
System Shock 2
Dead Space 1, 2
Rule of Rose
scripted encounters on the first game, nothing was scary. didn't play the second game because of scripted encounters
fnaf is just pure shit why do you even mention that?
>make underautists even more autistic
>make even more autistic
>make more autistic
Not really a horror game but it's the only game that ever spooked me.
White Day:A Labyrinth Called School
I have never screamed at my computer screen while watching a walkthrough of a video game (because the newer version of the game is in Korean only so I had to watch a walkthrough) so I can only imagine how horrifying it is to actually play it.
Also, another /x/phile recommended it in a thread like this. Thank you, whoever you were.
I should add, there's a lot of jump scares but there's also a lot of slow horror that creeps up on you and a lot of shit that isn't horrifying at all but just funny or weird.
Dude, outlast wasn't scary at all. I mean
>some shitty ass mental instituiton
>le flickering lights, lots of blood, dead soldiers
>hide in the closet game mechanic which was stupid even back in the amnesia
>but at least they didn't have actual guns lying around in the Amnesia and the enemies weren't stupid bums with lead pipes
How the fuck is this scary, anon? Amnesia and Condemned are somewhat disturbing, so is SOMA, cry of fear. This shit? No, I've had seen scarier surroundings in my city, living in 3rd world run-down shithole surrounded by people taking bath salts and flesh eating drugs really makes you jaded.
don't know, never played I'm just going with the flow of hate, as it always turns out true for me, even if I play I'm just gonna hate it.
also the art is really bad,
also it's made by furries what do you expect us to do?
For me I think audio is what really -makes- a scary game.
I remember watching a documentary about the making of Silent Hill 2 and one of the devs was saying he went out of his way to make the music (if you can call it that) when in the presence of monsters just slightly out of time.
It sounds disjointed but in those brief moments of panic you aren't thinking about that, though that is the part that gets under your skin. It makes you feel uncomfortable.
Same could be said about the sounds the monsters actually make, they're familiar, yet alien.
>don't know, never played I'm just going with the flow of hate
amazing, its like I can read words inscribed into a tumor
mcfucking kill yourself
