So I've been helping anons on /r/ and /wsr/ for a while and I was wondering if we should create some basic tutorials for common requests. That way those few of us who actually lurk /wsr/ to help could focus on harder requests and actually teach people how to look for stuff.
And I mean really basic things, like
>anons i need textbook X
>what anime is this
>i need source on this wallpaper
Anybody willing to help? We could coordinate here or on IRC.
>>50200
Teaching people how to fish, eh?
It's a good idea! If it's actually well crafted, it could be implemented in the sticky.
Where would one even start with this? I don't have much spare time on hands because of exams, but I would like to do my part.
>>50222
I think that the first step is to identify the most common requests which are at the same time fairly easy to fulfill.
I vote images and books search, but we need input from more anons
>>50222
I'm down to help
Also nice trips
sounds fun. looking forward to see an updated infographic about how to download X... or one that has a list of useful sites... but usually for things like this there's a need for a couple of people in charge or it could be a mess.
>>50362
/wsr/-tan stealing gets on her own board.
Seems only fair to me.
>>50200
I made an IRC, #wsr @ rizon
>>50222
I can contribute content and stuff, but I suck ass at Web dev
>>50266
Agree with image and book search. Also see a lot of photoshop requests on here, though they're probably too lazy to learn even if we did provide tutorials
>>50362
wsr-tan is NOT sexual
Requesting Infographic general.
>>50446
Generals are bad, but you can have infographics
>>50395
We should make a /wsr/ wiki
>>50447
Can you spoonfeed me about why generals are seen as bad?
>>50458
Less responses for requests in generals?
Theres no reason we can't just share infographics and call it or not call it a general.
Thats still a general by my definition though.
>>50458
One of the reasons is because almost all generals on 4chan turn into a circlejerk environment that just gets worse and worse and worse.
Generals are no good, son.
They all devolve the same
My problem with generals is that you by the time you inevitably get to 100+ posts, you've already lost sight of any real discussion and it's just people popping in to troll each other because they saw it in the catalog. With threads that long, no one has the time to read through and see if a recommendation or argument has already been made, so posters end up spitting out their opinion and leaving. You end up with lots of idiots talking past each other.
>>50200
>anons i need textbook X
>what anime is this
>i need source on this wallpaper
There are tons of those floating in the internet, I don't really see the point of making some chart that lazy people wont bother to google after 2 months of being created.
If we eliminate all the easy requests, the only threads remaining will be the ones no one can answer
>>50488
So, killing this board with no survivors.
Also /wsr/ the source and making of /wsr/-tan
>>50491
The current /wsr/-tan was originally made using a touhou creator and everything just sprang up from there. Before that, a drawfag drew up a megane librarian.

>>50493
Nice one, thanks for the info.
>>50478
We could probably keep a few of them from popping up if it were in the sticky.
There is a shit load of anime request and also there is a lot of anime chart/infographics /a/ has made. (Kinda pointless considering that instead of just simply posting those said charts/infographics they either spam memes or tell the OP to fuck off)
That isn't to say I'm against your idea OP.
>>50568
did someone say anime chart
Some more anime recs

Well they do, and she's a cute.
>>50448
Just like /a/?
Just look at the shit in the catalog
>>50362
Dont sexualize wasuri
>>50448
Yeah, we should really do this for common requests
>>50448
Yes, we definitely should. The problem is nobody willing to help with this project knows shit about wikis
Also join the IRC
#wsr @ rizon
OP here, I'm surprised the thread got so many replies. I will try to be on the IRC for and see what we can do.
>>51337
>The problem is nobody willing to help with this project knows shit about wikis
well maybe it's time to learn. With so many shitty series/franchizes having wikias I imagine it's not impossibly hard.
>>51482
The problem is, wikia is trash
We need an actual website or something
>>51230
It's Wasure.
>>51188
whats the story behind her design
why is she a witch etc etc
Bump because searching for a wiki master
Please post more infographics, the more the merrier.
I found something relevant

does everyone on /wsr/ like NNB?
or is it just one fag who loves using NNB reaction pics
>>52245
I haven't read or watched it yet, it's in my queue
Pretty sure it's just that one anon, though if a reaction image is cute I can imagine people using it (including myself) without knowing the source material
>>52245
Just post this on /a/ and type "Shinkansen" and nothing else in the comment section
It's pretty comfy.

Do you have a source on that pic?
I'm trying to set up a shitty home server for the first time using this guide but the image lacks all the stuff i have to put in the smb.conf file as well as the proftpd.conf file because it is out of view, within a text box with scroll bars.

Also i think it would be nice to have a topic tag ppl could write at the beginning of their post. Like :
SHOP / ANIME / SAUCE / IT / and so on..
So we'll know in a blink what to skip and what to focus on.

>>55082
What would a /wsr/ wiki be made of?
Please be specific.
>>55094
I don't know anon, I'm just a faggot that draws Wasuri to pass the time.
I'll try to throw in some ideas:
A thing I see asked often is a bigger version of an image or source when google answers that on the first page. Some people just don't know reverse image search is a thing.
Google for a quick fix, iqdb for anime fanart and anime source, tineye hasn't been useful in the slightest to me so far, yandex exists, saucenao is good for porn and images hosted on pixiv.
Another thing is books and pdfs requests. I don't really know how to solve this. There are dedicated sites that I don't know of.
Song source: Soundhound, Shazam, Midomi etc.
We get many /g/ related questions of which some spec rate threads so maybe some site that can analyse if the parts you have are compatible, price/quality, alternatives... I also remember anons downloading stupid shit, getting viruses and then come here for help. Again I don't really know about this.
When OP doesn't get the help he wanted there is usually someone who can point him on a dedicated board to increace the chances of solving the problem, like /wg/ for wallpapers, /ck/ for cooking tips, /ic/ if you want to learn how to draw and so on.
Maybe a short list to redirect people to the right board could be useful. This is probably a terrible idea and could back fire but it could work.
I can't think of anything else.
>>55133
>Reverse image search
The guide should include how to feed the results back through the reverse search (i.e pulling up a result and clicking "more sizes"), because sometimes the first reverse search doesn't get good results.
>When OP doesn't get the help he wanted there is usually someone who can point him on a dedicated board to increase the chances of solving the problem
This is true, but a lot of times they come here because threads asking for help or recommendations are banned on their board.
The wiki does not have any practical communication uses, other than editing pages. This prevents cancerous growth, or keeps it to the IRC. Should anonymous editing and page creation be allowed? An email is not required to sign up, but user names are used. However, because there is no direct communication on the website, usernames are almost meaningless, except for crediting.
>>55179
>The guide should include how to feed the results back through the reverse search
Good point
>threads asking for help or recommendations are banned on their board
Well shit I know this, how did I forget.
I still think a short list showing other boards stickies with relative info about what they deal with could be useful
Any autism infographics?
Any /tv/ related infographics?
