Let's have a general for anime recommendations instead of 10 different ones in the catalog - this way we gather all the chinese cartoons enthusiasts in the same place and maybe have more success.
I am looking for a good mahou shoujo show. Already seen Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon and Madoka, and those are all, I think. Especially looking for something similar to the first one i mentioned, better if it is old.
Somewhat related: we started a whatsapp group with some people from /a/, if anyone wants to join, say so.
Okay I didn't follow any seasonal anime in the last three seasons. What are some high points from those seasons?
i want to fug koma-chan while she's in a tanuki suit
Watch hyouka it's my favorite anime so it should be everyone else's favorite too :^)
But yeah in all seriousness hyouka is a great show that supplements the monotony of usual slice of life shows with the mystery aspect driving you to continue watching it. The artwork is pretty fantastic too, and the soundtrack is phenomenal (in my opinion)
Don't we all, anon
Summer: I thought charlotte had an interesting premise, although I was disappointed by the progression and ending. NNB repeat I didn't like as much as the first season, it just didn't feel as refreshing. Durarara was meh, it's getting really slow now and they're dragging it on
Fall: Noragami was bad imo but I didn't like the first season either. Sakurako-san no ashimoto was interesting but it wasn't great or anything. Perfect insider was decent. Utawarerumuno was ok
Winter: so far, boku dake ga inai machi is super interesting, though I personally really like mysteries. Dagashi is funny, as is sekkou boys. Durarara went to shit though
>Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon and Madoka
Nanoha, Precure and maybe Symphogear
Want a slice of life anime with good writing after seeing Spice & Wolf.
Recommend things under that criteria, please.
Try coda, Ookami Shounen wa Kyou mo Uso o Kasaneru, Shounen Oujo, and AKB49 - Renai Kinshi Jourei. Hachimitsu Scans does a ton of gender bender/trap series too and decent quality control, so check out what they've done. Ouran and Hana Kimi if you're at all into shoujo romance. Boy Skirt is pretty popular, but I couldn't get into it.
Here's some with a physical gender changes too since I doubt I'll check this thread again: Ame Nochi Hare, Shut Hell, and Ore to Hero to Mahou Shoujo (more comedy focused, but still worth a read.) Shishunki Bitter Change is body swap if you're about that.
Fairly new to anime, seen about 20 short series so far, as you can tell, I love cute shit, so recommendations would be nice. Just finished Non Non Biyori Repeat.
which animes are good this season ?
I already watch GATE, Dagashi Kashi and Utawarerumono
Toradora, the only choice.
It's been a while, but didn't it end with her leaving saying they might see each other again one day? At least that's the impression I got.
I wouldn't want another season that continues right where it left off, I want to see it in the future a bit and have them two see each other again and get together for a proper happy ending.
Oh wow. I sipped through to the end. I must have turned it off last time right after the letter, when the credits started rolling. That was a cute ending, way more fulfilling. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Also just finished reading My Heart is Beating by HA Il-Kwon and think it's worth a shot. First couple of chapters were a little rough, but it gets loads better from there. It's manwha if that makes any difference to you.
There isn't a general. Generals have no place here.
Rather than re-hash the issue, I'll direct you to what happened last time someone tried to make a thread like this: http://archive.nyafuu.org/wsr/thread/21462/
Please don't encourage the cancer by bumping it.
Watched: (in that order)
>Spice and Wolf S1
>Ultimate Survivor Kaiji
What should I watch next? Are the three I want to watch good? TV shows and movies are cool too.
o shit I forgot to say I liked everything I watched except FLCL
You've seen barely anything at all, why not just grab any old chart and watch the countless classics you haven't seen? I can't recommend anything to you because you don't even know what you want.
Just finished watching Beautiful Bones: Sakurako's Investigation, really loved it. I hope there is a second season. Can anyone recommend more like this?
Mouryou no Hako is probably my favorite mystery/thriller, the first episode is a bit grating though, because it involves the victim and not the main characters.
I think Hyouka is shit
Do you want more of the same or something new?
You seem pretty new to anime, so how about some of the more popular stuff?
Attack on Titan is really popular, and it's getting a second season in not too long, so you could watch the first season now and be ready for the next.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is another really good and popular anime that you could give a try.
If you want something with less action, you could try Love Live. It's about a group of girls that have an idol group.
Other than that, you could go for some older, but less talked about, stuff. But there is just too much of this, so I'll just mention some. K-on!, a slice of life about a group of girls. Serial Experiments Lain, a very deep show that's really interesting to watch, and it is entertaining. Visions of Escaflowne, a girl is transported to pretty well crafted fantasy world. Toradora, one of the most popular romance anime.
There is so much you could watch, and I can only give general suggestions without more to work off.
Log Horizon is SAO but actually good
Toradora is a fun comedy /romace
Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood
thank you for your suggestions anon
also, puella magi madoka magica is supposed to be that anime with this cat in it ? ( i also remember to see a crossover episode in nisekoi)
I've seen both. Eva had the sense of dread but it felt like they kinda had a fighting chance against the angels due to the Evas. Texhnolyse was just depressing.
I guess I'm kinda looking for an antagonist like the titans, mindless, overpowered killing machines.
Cromartie High School
Fist of the North Star
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Serial Experiment Lain
Spice and Wolf
I'm looking for something surreal like End of Evangelion and Paranoia Agent.
Bite me. There are a number of classics in the list, but you're either deluded or parroting things about stuff you've never watched if you'd consider EVERYTHING on that list to be a classic, let alone something to recommend to somebody asking for anime suggestions. It's pretty damn clear whoever made this put a significant amount of thought and effort into trying to look refined, rather than focusing on media that's either enjoyable or of cultural/historical significance.
Read the Muv Luv VNs. I've heard SNK was originally inspired by Muv Luv.
if you like mushishi you should probably try this too
Looking for some gambling anime/manga, Mahjong is a plus but not required.
Stuff I've seen/read:
Akagi, Kaiji, Ten, basically everything by Fukumoto to shorten the list.
Legendary gambler Tetsuya
>using normie unironically
>trip is less than one month old
You're free to an hero at any time anon.
retarded tripfags lashing out at newfags because they dared to bring their newness into the general is exclusive to generals.
If he'd brought his newness to a new thread, disinterested parties would just scroll past it.
>hasn't watched one of the greatest anime of all time
Not even being ironic. Why haven't you watched K-On yet? Get on it. Then proceed to buy an instrument of best girl and start practicing.
Looking for two types of recommendations:
1. Movies or movie-length OVAs I haven't seen. Anything good, preferably classics, older or newer ones. If anything slightly surreal/weird comes to mind that would be the best but if not then just anything I haven't seen.
2. Any kind of series or movie with a unique visual design. Examples would by works by Yuasa (seen all of them): Kaiba, Tatami Galaxy or Mind Game and works by Kenji Nakamura: Kuuchuu Buranko or Mononoke. Stuff that looks untypical compared to anime usually.
Here is my MAL list to avoid recommending stuff I have seen already:
I'm running out of good shit to watch, or maybe good shit I haven't seen or skipped over
here is this gay ass list I made just to keep track of what i've seen, I didn't rate anything just tacked it on there, if you can skim through you'll get a good idea of what I like.
>Ginga Tetsudou 999
Is it worth watching if I plan on checking out the series some time in the future.
Well, actually there were some idol anime I really liked.
Well, I have watched Cagliostro for the director and Fujiko Mine and while both were rather enjoyable I can't say either made me want to dig a lot deeper into the franches
I have seen it, it's there on my mal list.
>running out of good shit
You seen hardly anything! You're missing modern classics like Tatami Galaxy, Hyouka and K-On!
Very little old stuff too, have this chart.
>Essential mahou shoujo
(optional) Anything older than the new wave
(optional) Sailor Moon
(optional but too fun to pass) Symphogear
Yuuki Yuuna (not essential per se but shows what the direction will the genre go after Madoka)
Expect some amounts of yuri in all those shows.
Anyone suggest me anime where it features characters that go from zero to hype with their abilities (or genius type MC)?
Examples would be Saki going demon mode, Hinata in Haikyuu going full focus, Hyouka MC. I've been watching Ace of Diamond but the MC keeps going weak willed all of a sudden and I'm wondering if the pay off is even worth it. (Got to second season.)
Recommend me something in the vain of
>>>>Cross Game (Pretty much all Adachi series Touch, H2, Rough. Cross Game is just one of my top anime)
>Kimagure Orange Road
Optional, but a more thorough romance would be good too. I don't like seeing the series end right after the first kiss. I like nice complete epilogues.
Great things that are in line with your list
cromartie high school
Cyber City Oedo 808
Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä
Good shit thats not like whats already on your list
Tiger & Bunny
Arashi no Yoru ni
from what I've been watching recently probably Chrno Crusade, and yes it's not a typo.
although it's more of the secondary protagonist that actually did the zero to hype stuff.
still main protagonist though, so you see him a lot, just that you don't see him unleashing his power on every single fight.
So how about something similar to One Punch Man? I've already seen samurai flamenco, and enjoyed it a lot. I've also seen kill la kill which was sort of similar too.
looking for anime shows to watch with my girlfriend, who is pretty new to anime.
Surprisingly she really loves it, she's already obsessed with 2 shows, Black butler, and Ouran High School Host Club.
Looking for shows like those, or any that would be appealing to girls. We just finished Food Wars, and she liked that as well, but not as much as those other shows. She's fine with sexual shit but I'm noticing she's more interested in romance, and male characters.
For what purpose
Anime recs is one of this board's main purposes, just what the fuck is the point of opening a "general" for it? That'd be like opening an "anime general" on /a/ or a "movies general" on /tv/
It's much easier to just keep a thread open than constantly refreshing the page. I think I prefer the general format, but it's fine that people make anime threads in addition. But for the sake of following discussions and such, a general is better than multiple short threads where people don't talk about things.
It has worked well so far. And there are generals and generals. Some are just threads for discussing something in general, others are threads that become their own communities that live forever. People seem to miss that distinction, like when they sperg out at someone saying "retro anime general" on /a/, that's just a thread for retro anime, it's not a general in the sense that it destroys the board.
Except that, even if a general isn't started expecting it to become a small community, after a few threads, it invariably becomes one.
Just wait 'til the name/tripfags make this thread their home. You'll see. Until then, I'll stay clear of this thread (as I'd done 'til this post) and only fulfill requests in non-generals. Same with the photoshop one.
Postmodernism. The feeling that everything "classic" (mecha, fantasy, mahou shojo) was already made, and it's time to shake things up.
Also the change in how anime was perceived. There was a time when anime was only for kids and hardcore fans, with no appeal to normal people. It was either childish - and therefore unappealing to normal people - or too niche - and therefore, again, unappealing to normal people.
Then, NGE happened. And anime was changed forever. NGE wasn't even a masterpiece per se, but it almost singlehandedly created the anime industry as we have it now.
I used to hate rec threads in /a/ but I guess since here this faggotry is allowed I'll bite the bait.
I just want anything similar to oregairu, either the first or the second season. So basically either a comedy with an antisocial character as the MC or a romance/drama with good plot and characters. Also I could as well enjoy some shoujo, I don't know what are considered the classics, I watched isshuukan friends and enjoyed it a lot
Thanks, had my sights set on Tamako Market already so I guess I will start with that.
Any other low IQ retards who have no idea how to figure out what their "taste" is?
I am looking for a couple recommendations of what anime to watch next, here is my anime list
I suppose I have a taste for high action anime, but I have never really tried a straight romance anime, the closest to that for me was Rosario plus vampire. I'm open to suggestions
I have already watched about 8 episodes of trigun and I like it for the most part, but the animation and show itself is just too aged for me to stomach it. I have watched the majority of one punch man, and I'll add these to my to watch list. Currently watching Madoka Magicka per another anon rec
looking for something like precure but not precure itself, a lot of fast brutal fights and less retarded plot, bonus point for cute girls
I wanna try out the Monogatari series, but I have no clue in what order it goes. Where do I start?
Windaria is tragic. If you were holding back the tears before, the credits rolling with this song will break you.
Just watch some pleb entry level shit:
>Attack on Titan
>Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
>No Game No Life
>Studio Ghibli Films
The above should get you okay-ish breadth for a noob. I hated some of them but those are just essential entry level things and I can't base recommendations on personal whims because most people like the anime above, so chances are that you will like *most* of them.
>hasn't even watched the series
>posts best girl
Just pick anything on this list
Mostly
everything here is really really solid.
Tatami Galaxy is obscure outside of /a/ and other places on the internet
Hell, most anime /a/ talks about would be obscure to pleb anime weebs. You know, the ones that predominately watch shounen shit like Naruto and Bleach
Fushigi na Somera-chan
Little Witch Academia
Bubu and Bubulina
I Can Friday by Day!
Sex and Violence with Machspeed
L'Oeil du Cyclone
I need something like Cardfight!! Vanguard or YuGiOh!, particularly the ridiculous hype asspulls and maybe the tournament-esque atmosphere. Doesn't have to be a card/game of course.
I hate the sequels and refuse to watch it.
