What's the best military/soldier life anime? I just finished

Black Lagoon as well, but there's more of a modern mercenaries/pirates theme in it.

Valkyria Chronicles, except just play the game instead because it's better.

I'm hijacking this thread for a second to request something super similar.

There's a military anime that I've been looking for for a long while but I haven't been able to find it, and the only reference I have is one scene - this group of people (i think they're in fatigues) are traveling out in the grass or a dirt road, and the side of this wagon or truck suddenly explodes in smoke or debris. I know this is super vague, but has anyone heard of it?
