dont like the man, but Floyd might be GOAT defensive boxer.
People who think Deontay Wilder would get owned by more technical boxers have no fucking clue what a "slugger" is and how easily they can sometimes dominate the whole sport. Remember young George Foreman?
Wilder could beat Klitschko right now if they fought today
>>849921
1) As a general rule of thumb, boxers have a stylistic advantage over sluggers
2) Foreman wasn't successful just because he had raw raw power. That's the perception of him that casuals had. He had amazing ring intelligence, was one of the best ring-cutters of all time. More akin to GGG in terms of blending aggression and finesse than DW.
That said I do agree with you. He would destroy Fury, that's for sure.

To say Foreman was just a slugger is a massive understatement. He hit hard as hell, picked his shots, intelligently used his reach advantage to the fullest, and cut off all escapes much like what>>849965 said.

I have a hard time respecting martial arts sometimes because all their demonstrations are fake.
There's a video out somewhere of a real martial arts fight where they actually kill the guy and drag him out. The problem is, the teacher (or whatever) puts his best guy up against the opponent, who is a mentally disabled man convinced he's a karate master. The real karate guy kills him, but he barely even uses martial arts. He just knocks him down then stomps his head a bunch of times. Then I see gifs like this and it's like...that's not what it's really like at all. Have they ever been in a real fight?
>>852865
I have a hard time respecting fucking retards like you who parrot everything they hear without finding evidence to back it up.
The guy didn't die in the video you're talking about, retard, regardless of what the video is titled as on youtube. A quick google search and you can find an article with comments from the officer who dealt with that incident. It was an assault, and he didn't die.
Stupid faggot.
>>852865
Knockdowns and stomps literally exist in karate, as well as most striking systems.
Welcome to reality: most martial arts look the same in practice and are just different styles of training the same martial concepts.
Choreography. Learn what it means.
It's not a sparring demonstration. Besides, literally every move used in those gifs has been seen in a ring at some point.

Are you allowed to do things in boxing with your punches similair to a question mark kick? It seems like a lot of these attackers don't understand how to mix it up.
I of course have never been in the ring so I don't know much about boxing.
>>866638
Footwork is literally EVERYTHING in a fight.
It allows you to enter/exit the opponent's range at leisure, combined with the hips it adds a tremendous amount of power to your strikes and so on.
Let's put it this way: if your footwork is solid, at worst it allows you to stay away from trouble.
If your footwork isn't good, at best you'll soon to be on the ground and everything will be over quicker.

>>865492
Sounds dumb but this would probably be fairly effective in most random street fights if you committed to it fully and didn't let the other guys get a clean shot in. You're not going to be knocking anyone out but you're probably going to make a small group of people decide you're clearly batshit insane and not worth the effort.
>>871725
I spy? with the broken nose dude
>>866638
Quite a bit. A solid punch involves the whole body, so being able to put weight on your feet without overbalancing is important. You need to be able to quickly step into an attack OR fall into a guard/block OR quickly step backwards OR quickly step to the left OR quickly step to the right etc... and if your feet aren't right, you take a step, over balance slightly, stumble slightly and the other guy's all over you.
Good footwork keeps you well balanced so you're not going to sway, it lets you move in any direction you need to quickly without tripping over your own feet (which happens a lot in random street fights, as you can see in webms all over /wsg/ and /gif/), lets you dodge your upper body around without overbalancing, and also just simple stuff like keeps your body properly aligned to throw a punch at someone.
Professional fighters put a lot of work into managing their feet. Used to confuse the hell out of me as a kid when I thought boxers just had strong arms and punched each other. I mean, they do that too, but...

Hamed had huge power, mostly from using his legs right. Everyone hated him so much back when he was fighting, but people who discover him today just see his antics and love him for being such an entertaining boxer.
Barerra beat him because he'd lost all training discipline by the time he fought him ~age 30, and because by then he'd fired his trainer who got him to where he was in the first place. Then he retired and quickly became overweight.
>>865689
This. Someone that;s is way than someone that's fat
Anybody got some from the first Mark Hunt vs. Bigfoot silva fight? They beat the everloving shit out of each other for 5 rounds.
Mark Hunt has some of the heaviest hands out there today, it's insane
>>873244
In a way though, he lived and died by fighting unorthodox without discipline. He was always going to get beaten by a skilled pugilist eventually but the whole reason he was KOing people before that was in a sense because he was boxing badly - crossing his feet, leaning back, jumping in etc. although in fairness he barely had a training camp before barrera because of how good he thought he was. The look of desperation on his face when he started getting whacked by barrera still haunts me

I like Conor but when he talks money he is a COMPLETE bullshitter.
Claims he made a bet of a $million or more - not unless he had hundreds of thousands from his career as a plumber.
Claims he was looking for a 9-figure contracts - LOL! He'd be extremely lucky to get 7-figures and if he did it would be over years, and it would be contingent upon superfights and title defenses, AND, most importantly, it would structured in such a way as to make it almost impossible for him to actuall be paid the 7-figures, because it would require, for example, winning 2-3 title defense and a superfight or two within each year -- but mandatory medical suspensions would make it impossible to fit that many fights in within the timeframe.
They do it in the music industry, too -- sign Band X to a $40 million contract...BUT they need their album to
debut at #1
stay #1 for 4 weeks minimum
chart 3 singles in the top 10
each single must stay in the top 10 for 4 weeks, minimum
Next album same thing or even 4 singles in the top ten, etc, etc.
The idea is to make it sound as if the athlete or band is a powerful, grab press with the $ story, etc.
Previous to iTunes it was hard to figure out how much artists made. Now it's easy. Now we know if your name isn't Bieber or Swift, you don't really make much money. BUT lesser artists still rent the Lambo's and Instagram them as if they own them (right Chris Brown? and others). It builds the image.
Thing with Conor is we know the UFC doesn't pay well AT ALL, we know Brock and GSP made loads more than everyone else and loads more than Conor. We know locker-room bonuses are bullshit. And we know Conor is the size and weight of Ariana Grande, and that Americans (BY FAR the biggest market) won't make a superstar of a little guy like Conor. They have the NFL, NBA, NHL - these are huge manly men that are their sports heroes. they don't want tiny guys. Conor's future is limited by that. Conor can't sell merch, & the UFC pays accordingly.

You can judge how much explosiveness someone has in their legs by how clean is their technique to raise from the ground like Werdum did. Elite weighlifters and sprinters, for example, have almost perfect technique and will transition from laying on the ground to standing in an instant, like if they had been propulsed by a pair of powerful springs. In contrast, Werdum needs to do two different movements to actually stand up.

Attacking boxers have to adapt and "mix it up" all the time or else they would constantly be getting dodged and/or counter-punched. Boxing is just faster, more simple and less flashy than what you might see with kicking in MMA or kickboxing, so it's a bit harder to keep track of all the mind-games going on.
I guess you could say these unpredictable rotating lead-right-hands that Roy Jones Jr did were kinda like question mark kicks, in a way:
>>848798 >windmill_punch.webm
