hard to say for sure
she was in unders for the longest time but went on hiatus just as it seemed she was moving to the main group
officially she says she's worried about her physical health and doesn't want to be an idol if she's not 100% capable
maybe she just can't handle the workload, maybe during her break she realized she'd rather be doing something else with her life

Who is Matsui Jurena and why is AKBongo shilling her, when she was at the time a member of a different group? Still around the 2009 bits of Okbingo
She has a mannish face but is still charming, what with the chronic smug look she has going on
Shinoda Mariko has a smug smile as well, post smug idols
>>1824810
Matsui Jurina is the center (formerly double-center) of SKE. At that time SKE had just debuted and they were promoting it by having Jurina and Reina appear on bingo a lot. She's currently #3 in the Sousenkyo senbatsu and is in most of the AKB Single Senbatsu since shes one of the current aces.
Yes, Jurina is charming. Jurina is the best.
>>1824826
Well I don't know if she's the best but she's alright. Still looking forward to seeing how the main members end up though
>tfw most of my favourites are now older than me

Please don't bully, just imagine Lemon-chan heard you say that about her, wouldn't she feel so heartbroken? All her hard efforts to win the hearts of the fans, all her hopes and dreams (aside from wanting to be a FUCKING lemon) would be dashed upon the rocks
Please consider how you're words may affect others before making fun of retards
>>1825567
She doesn't even want to be a lemon anymore, but she fucked up every MC and TV show she was in with that shit character for 5 years, so I reserve the right to hate her for 5 years. This is not negotiable.

>5 years
Are you fucking serious
I haven't seen anything of her beyond webms from these threads
Was she obsessing over lemons, e.g. "call me lemon-chan, I love lemons, watch me eat lemons haha" (what I assume to be the worst of what happened) for five fucking years

Why would any young girl want to be a vegetable

I'm just going to see an episode of something with her and kill myself won't I
>>1825638
>Why would any young girl want to be a vegetable
Fruit mate.
Now, anyway, I'm going to give my theory on her lemon gag and why it exists.
Japanese people have more intimate relationships with food and certain objects than we do. They see an innate symbology in many mundane things that we don't. This begins in childhood and it's a cultural thing. It is not at all uncommon for a Japanese child, when asked the question, "What do you want to be (ie when you grow up)?", to give some type of food or inanimate object as an answer. I can't explain why this is, it's just something ive noticed while watching various programs/animes ect. Similar themes are apparent in sorts of Japanese culture/media. They seem to be more obsessed with the aesthetics of things, even to the point where it is impractical or illogical.
This might explain her "I want to be a fresh lemon!" gag. It may well be some dorky joke she's carried on through her childhood and into her identity as an idol. Add this to the fact that she has a small head and is just an odd little girl generally, and you got the full weird package, which i guess the producers of these variety shows decided to go with.
Its all speculation on my part, but its the only way i can make sense of it.
>>1825762
Was this before or after Yuihan was in NMB?

?
You mean like "I want to be a dinosaur when I grow up" kinda stuff? Could you give examples of this symbology though, I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean by this. It's not that I don't believe you, it's just that you're describing how aliens probably live
And if your explanation is right, then that's a pretty depressing backstory, let alone her small head
>just an odd little girl generally
Go on..
>>1825857
What did you mean by vegetable?
I don't know, its like they attribute more value to certain objects than they're worth as objects, almost like they hold some cultural significance that doesn't translate into western cultures. And yeah, that "i wanna be dinosaur" is basically what i mean. But instead they wanna be things like lemons, or beef, or a car or some shit.
>>1825492
>I want to live a normal life after all!
kek'd
>>1825767
I bet current Shimada could win this.
Someone wanna explain to me wtf this show is for? I started watching it thinking it would be a funny idol-based police sitcom but the whole thing is just 6-8 mins of dull acting. Then they all say "chu" and a shortened version of the song plays. Is this thing solely to just to promote that song?
>>1826589
The unit's name is(was?) Tentomu-chu. They were promoting the group.

Never happens. There are a lot of good idols, and it's easy to find new and interesting ones.
>>1830350
>what will happen when the final favourite member graduates from AKB, what are you supposed to do
That's why you have multiple waifus across all the groups. Never put all your eggs into one basket. Also you need to be an ever-adapting waifu detector. You gotta move with the eb and flow of the idol continuum.
>>1830359
Nocchi is pure class

I'll never understand why they edit concerts with one second cuts like this, it makes it seem like they're covering up some incompetence.
>>1831188
i think they might be covering up that it's actually a music video
>>1831188
It's done in a few music videos too. I don't think it's a cover for anything, i just think its a misguided editing style. Like they're trying make it snappy and dramatic but going way too far. The fucking HKT48 Melon juice video is a perfect example. That shit is cut so fucking fast it actually hurts my eyes to watch.

Every scene in the MV is entirely original. I may be wrong but I think the public is actually constitued of fans who won some kind of lottery. >>1822520

typically when they get too old, they "graduate" but it's really that they get let go from the group and then a new member is cycled in to keep the group young, fresh and pretty
>>1833271
Sure. Everyone else does, so it makes them more relatable.
>>1833271
The teeth don't make them unattractive in Japanese culture, in fact it's a charm point. You know how some anime characters have fangs? That's visual shorthand for fucked-up teeth.

Graduate is a word Japanese use to basically mean you're "finished" or fired. If you're in a Japanese guild and they kick you they'll say you've graduated, for example.

What's a good way to start getting into Nogizaka, NogiBingo?
>>1839882
nogidoko but there's 180 eps and only half of them are subbed with lots of awkward machine translations and the like
nogichuu is the continuation, less variety and more talky segments generally, there's like 20 eps unsubbed
nogibingo's decent and all the eps are subbed, some people hate the middle seasons, season 8 features just the 3rd gen members that joined about a year ago
i think most people just start with nogibingo these days, then start watching the weekly nogichuu ep while leisurely catching up on nogidoko+nogichuu in order
>>1839993
That's a bit depressing, does Nogizaka not get as much love? From the webms I thought they were also pretty solid
Found season 1 of NogiBingo at wakarimasu after I couldn't find it on the doc, but the subs are pretty atrocious. Maybe I should stick to AKBingo; nearing episode 50, 1/9 of the way towards reaching fucking present day

Keyakizaka is super easy to get into. Their main show isn't even at 100 episodes yet and almost all of them are subbed. Keyabingo is only on it's third season right now and both seasons before are completely subbed.
>>1834246
>these are just normal people
Not exactly, idols are performers. They aren't at all a realistic representation of a what most Japanese girls are like, or even what they themselves (these girls playing the idols) are like in day-to-day life. They are something to aspire to, or at the very least, be entertained by. It's the same with any celebrity ideal. People will follow celebrities for different reasons though.
The main difference between western celebrity and Japanese idol, is that you have the prior growing out of an individualistic society, and the latter growing out of a collectivist society (common with Asian counties). The results for the celebrity are slightly different in each respect.
For example, I think what attracts me personally to idols is their relative degree of self-sacrifice; they are very 'service' minded in what they do - its not at all like the western celebrity where its all about 'look at me! ain't I great!' Japanese idols really consider what they do to be a 'job' no matter how ridiculous or degrading (relative opinions) it may seem. It's not that they aren't aware of it, they are just willing to push past the fact and have fun with it, turn it into a joke, which is what people tune in for.
A mindset like this flourishes in a collectivist society, but not in an individualist one. If you can be more open minded you will see that there is a lot of value here.
>>1841274
>band music (obviously power metal)
