>>1833114
>>1833333

To be fair, the kids on brown pants was the first to made physical contact. Yeah, it was a little push with one hand, barely worth of note, yet, he initiated the entire thing.

However, I doubt the response was in accordance to the threat. That's like the first thing you learn in law classes when talking about self-defence, the force employed should be equal to the threat. Otherwise, people would get away with murder by claiming self-defence because the other guy said mean things.

And coming back to this fight: the kid on red shirt got pushed. In return, he literally kicked the other kid on the chest, applied a scissor leg takedown (which is forbidden in nearly all MMA tournaments, iirc), hit him multiple times on the head, including the nape (which is also forbidden), and finished potentially breaking his arm and sustaining the hold after the other kid gave up. Or at least look like he wasn't trying to keep the fight.

I think the mma kid went over the top. I know 4chan likes to relate everything with some bogeyman, so I know nobody will agree with my conclusion that both kids deserve to be disciplined. One for picking up fights, and the other for not knowing when to stop.

Also, the whole "bully took on a smaller kid" is laughable. Both were the same size and build. Given the lack of training, in fact, the supposed bully was in disadvantage. But, hey, what could you expect from a facebook page called "thebjj".

>Hur, hur, that kid won the fight, clearly bjj in action, guy! Hey, gravity is also a bjj technique!
>>
>>1833201
>>the force employed should be equal to the threat.
>Okay Mr. Attacker, I will only hit you once you have hit me and I will employ only low to moderate force so as to prevent any physical harm! Please, you may throw your first punch.

One particular case flew over my head. A woman was tied up and being raped in her own home, she managed to snatch a kitchen knife at one point and slammed it into the attacker's thigh, after that she fled and called the cops. She got a conviction for aggravated assault.

Fuck I hate the "durp durp you must use force equal to threat" shit. Who decides what's appropiate to the situation and what isn't? What if the true victim is panicked and confused? Who the fuck is the judge to say when slamming a knife into a thigh is proper use of force and when it isn't? The judge must have known only decisive use of force or immobilization would prevent the attacker from following the woman.

>>
>>1825317
Wow so they treat fighting like its just a part of the sport?
>>
>>1825920
Fucking Spiderman.
>>
>>1833465

It has been a part of the sport since its beginning. The players are each assessed a 5 minute menalty and can return to the game afterwards. In the case in the webm, there was less than 5 minutes left in teh game so both players just got kicked out.

Unfortunately fighting in hockey is becoming more and more regulated, and there have been many rules and measures put in to effect in the past 20 years that have slowly eaten away at fighting as an institution in the sport. These days there are far less fights (each team averaged about 80 fights per year in 1997, in 2017 the average was 12), and the fights that do happen are very safe and sterile compared to the fights of yesteryear.

Back then some teams really disliked each other, and players would hold grudges for years. There's no hate in the sport these days. The pure, tribalistic hatred between teams that used to be present and made the sport so entertaining has been all but eliminated.

Cruz said it best.

He was the top guy up n coming fighters dreamt of beating, and Cody admitted the same.

He literally beat everybody, including pretty much all of Alpha-Male, except their boy Cody.

When you have a target on your back eventually someone will develop almost like they're purpose built to beat you, because they are.

same thing happened to Anderson Silva with Weidman, who styled all over Silva hard, twice. Against other fighters now he doesn't look that great.

>>
>>1831893
also punches are used to close the distance between one and his adversary, it puts them in the defensive so they cant reciprocate with similar attacks long enough to get close and bring the knees and elbows into play in conjunction with a firm clinch which is used to destabilize and create openings in the guard
>>
>>1821566

Then he got up, shrugged it off and won by decision.

you're retarded that kid was barely even hurt, the fact that red shirt moved to an armbar from a mounted position raining punches down shows how much incredible restraint he really has. he could have battered the kid but he didn't, he ended the confrontation as safely as possible. you don't know fighting so don't comment

In the late 90s the "fight strap rule" was implemented that mandated that players must tie down their jerseys to their gear using a strap that was sewn into the interior backside of jerseys. Anyone who fights without a their fight strap tied down is ejected from the game. This had a couple of significant effects. For one, players who weren't enforcers pretty much stopped fighting, as they the sacrifice in mobility caused by the fight strap had a detrimental effect on their play and they usually chose not wear it. Also, prior to this, you couldn't just tie a guy up in his jersey and equipment because the guy could just wriggle out of whatever you had gotten hold of( several examples of this in the webm here >>1821959
). Because of the fight strap, the fights have turned into much more defensive affairs in which the players just try to tie each other up by grabbing onto the other guys jersey/equipment and preventing him from throwing a proper punch.

In 2013 a rule was implemented that all players entering the league must wear a visor on the their helmet, and they also instituted a penalty for removing your helmet before a fight. Previously, if a player with a visor wanted to fight a player without a visor, it was an unspoken rule that both players should take their helmets off before the fight. This is going to be the death knell of fighting as more and more visorless players retire.

There's plenty of other little things, but you get the picture. Fighting in hockey has been slowly phased out of the game over the past 2 decades to the point that it's only present in the current game as a token throwback to previous eras.

>Implying I don't train full contact kickboxing
>Implying people who really train MA are eager to jump into any street fight.
>Implying the only reason we can't present charges against the red kid is because he's a kid. (If he were an adult, with that video, it would be a piece of cake to convince the judge to made him pay the medical bills)
>Implying implications.

This next part is laughable and by itself tells more than any of your inane babbling:

>shows how much incredible restraint

>Get barely touched in the shoulder once, literally drop everything and take it to fists.
>Once on top position, keep pounding with no regard where it hits, hitting directly into the back of the head multiple times.
>Hyper extent the elbow to the maximum possible and sustain the hold after the brown kid have verbally submitted, and even after another kid is trying to pull them apart.

If you come back to special education school, maybe you could understand he first tried the ground and pound route, but once the top position was in risk, he applied the armbar with clear intent of hurting him. He could have gone straight for the armbar after the scissor leg takedown, but no, ground and pound it was, because, you know, is much more safe.

Or, if he have any semblance of restrain and fully understanding of martial arts, not engage into a fight just because.

>4:11 "people in gun fights grapple"

For serious?

We have this argument all the time at /asp/, and lots of people agree grappling is not good for street fighting. Because:

a) Puts the grappler within the attacker's range. The first rule on self-defence is always to keep the distance, you don't know what the other guy is hiding, or is going to do, like pulling a knife or grabbing a rock.

b) There're no rules about what's fair or not. Situations like pic related is very common, and worse, there's no arbiter to stop shit from hitting the fan.

c) Compromises mobility. Both, aggressor and grappler are pinned to the ground, and if for some reason the grappler have to stand up, he must break his hold, which means the aggressor can attempt to keep things down if benefits him for some reason.

Sacrificing the chance to flee is a stupid, stupid idea because shit can shift for the worse all the time, but that's exactly what grappling does: sacrifice chances to run away.

On a personal note, I find hilarious how the "documentary" when confronted with the multiple opponent's dilemma, he resorts to "yeah, well, it's true it doesn't work, but grappling is still neat!", then puts lots of footage of people body slamming each other.

Now, to finish this:

http://www.bjjee.com/articles/bjj-black-belts-point-of-view-why-jiu-jitsu-is-not-suitable-for-street-fighting/
>As a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu and instructor, former competitor, Jiu-Jitsu instructor to the French Police and having worked in the security industry in various situations (music festivals, bars, nightclubs, commercial centers) I have acquired a personal opinion on this subject that I will share with you and, perhaps, will not fail to surprise most of you.
>Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is absolutely not suitable for street fighting

Some literal who on youtube vs black belt jiu jitsu with professional experience on security. Who should I listen?
>>
>>1838862
Short serious answer, is simple: hitting on the back is forbidden because there's the chance to hurt the kidneys or the spine. Therefore, nobody throws elbows to the back so they don't get DQ.

However, another reason is closely related to the bjj history.

Trying to be short: the founders of BJJ were originally training traditional jiu jitsu. However, one day they said "yeah, fuck this, we are moving into a new school and proclaim ourselves grandmasters! BJJ is born!". Should be noted they weren't black belts in JJJ before founding BJJ.

Point is, this new BJJ was heavily focused on grappling and only grappling, apparently because that's the only thing the founders knew really well. Therefore, as BJJ grow in popularity, several things that could show the shortcomings of it were banned. Not because they were incredible dangerous, but because the founders didn't know how to counter them.

As example, body slam. A body slam on a bjj competition leads to disqualification, but judokas and wrestlers keep impacting on the floor all day long, so the reason for the banning isn't the stress on the body.

Anyway, point is, MMA was heavily influenced by BJJ, and because bjj competitions ban certain striking techniques, hitting with the elbow on the back is also forbidden.

what is the best art for street fighting then?
like if you had to pick one single art
I thought it would be wrestling, but your post makes me second guess that
my friend said krav maga, which i at first dismissed, but then he pointed out that krav maga was designed for street fighting, teaching you the type of things that are illegal in damn near every other martial art
so while other martial arts have a higher ceiling, krav maga will fare you better in self defence on the street
>>
>>1839174
so if it weren't for the BJJ roots elbows to the back would be legal?
I don't understand if you're saying the argument for stress on the body is legitimate or not
>>
>>1839376
Krav maga is mall ninja shit. The benefit of bjj is regular training against fully-resisting opponents. Truth is that you can apply the "you never know what will happen, multiple attackers/knife/gun/rock/big dildo" argument to any discipline. When you're faced with any of those hazards, no school of martial arts will be better than fleeing, no matter how awesome that krag maga tacticool wannabe operator on youtube makes gun disarming look. In a 1v1 situation against your average normie it's my opinion that bjj gives you the best edge. In a best-case scenario you can subdue your opponent without causing serious harm to either of you. Just my $0.02 but don't take one guy's opinion as the final say. If you're looking for something to get into start with looking around your area for legit instructors. A really great plain-old karate dojo will always be superior to a half-assed bjj gym.
>>
>>1838579
>let me show you the dance of my people
>>
>>1839472
it's not the you never know what'll happen argument that i can't refute, it's the illegal move argument
>krav maga was designed for street fighting, teaching you the type of things that are illegal in damn near every other martial art
so while other martial arts have a higher ceiling, krav maga will fare you better in self defence on the street
what exactly is the counterargument for this other than "meme art"
>>
>>1839489
Sometimes something being a "meme" is enough to qualify it as poor. The only thing that KM has going for it is its reputation as super hardcore. I can't imagine learning something in class and then trying it in a real-life altercation without having ever practiced it against another fully-resisting opponent. KM is a perfoamance martial art. It looks really cool, almost like a choreographed Hollywood action movie fight. It has no application in the real world unless you spar, and since you can't spar with knives or guns it's useless. That's my argument. In karate, bjj, MT, etc. you spar with others (bjj especially) so you can hone your technique in situations that are close in energy to real-life fights. I'm sure there's some operator out there who has used KM to remove lots of kebab, and has gotten really good at it over time with practice (i.e. removing kebab). Normies don't get the chance to kill people all the time so you're training for a game that will never come. Imagine going to soccer practice forever and never playing a game. That's Krav Maga.
>>
>>1839376
>what is the best art for street fighting then?
Knowing how to run really fast, motherfucker.
>>
>>1839528
This. Proficiency in any martial art will give you the confidence to try and non-violently diffuse a situation without giving the aggressor the impression that you're easy prey. If that doesn't work, get yourself out of there. Macho bullshit is the most retarded reason to learn a martial art (bjj purple belt here).
>>
>>1825916
He is dead?
>>
>>1836044
Some damn good judo there.
>>
>>1833671
Styled? Weidman only won because Silva was fooling around in the first fight, and in the second because the leg injury
>>
>>1839376
The real key to pick an art for street fighting isn't the name of the style, but the coach and his training methods. As this anon said, >>1839500 the only way to learn useful applicable techniques, is to train them in as close as possible to real life scenarios, which includes sparing with resisting partners. To put a comparative, is like learning to play a guitar vs doing air guitar all day long. One will prepare you to play in a concert, the other is just a dance. If you want to call it like that.

Now, from a personal point of view, striking is superior to grappling when talking about the street, because as previously pointed, striking try to keep some distance between aggressor and striker, allowing for much better mobility and being fully aware of the surroundings. In fact, styles like boxing have a heavy focus on footwork and mobility.

Also, lots of people don't train any martial art, or any sport at all, so even a few lucky shots can finish a fight. Mummy guard, back twisted knot choke and such techniques are fancy and all, but unnecessary when a jab can finish the fight as or more quickly.

So, if I must have to name something, I would suggest boxing. No, seriously. As I said, they do a lot of footwork, so running out of there is always an option. Because they don't train kicks, there's a lower risk of slipping when trying to do a douma washi. And finally, punching can always finish a fight.

But nearly any full contact place focused on striking is a good option, disregarding if they are called karate, savate or ching chong fu.

Traditionally a large amount of martial arts hace biting, gouging, finger locks/small joint manipulation, headbutting, groin and eye strikes in their repertoire. These have all been omitted from modern forms or the moves have been repurposed and modified to be less dangerous so they are now designed for self defence, sport and competition or in some cases exhibition. Obviously many of these are disallowed due for their potential to cause significant injury and fatality but some places still teach it due for historical reasons and preservation. A case in point is with Fencing, modern Fencing has changed so much that the techniques taught are designed now to deal with nothing more than olympic level competition rules and less for actual warfare/duelling fencing. Others like say in greco-roman wrestling where a suplex was originally an unarmed combat technique used to actually kill an enemy soldier in the classical era because of the helmets of that era restricting the head movement, if you performed a suplex that had them land on their shoulders back in that era they would of course naturally be dead from a snapped neck.

That isn't exactly accurate. A more accurate nutshell example is that Maeda taught Judo to Carlos Gracie and Luiz Franca and over time they wanted to explore less of the stand up and more of the ground game of Judo hence the origins of BJJ as it is today with heavy emphasis on ground techniques. Judo originally had four areas of focus with arm length jiu jitsu, clinching, kneeling jiu jitsu and ground based jiu jitsu. BJJ is pretty much a heavy emphasis on the last bit and modern Judo has more emphasis on the other aspects, predominantly standing arm length jiu jitsu and clinching.

Now I don't know about other dudes in this chat who have done MMA training but i've found that most dudes who came from a predominantly heavy BJJ background as their base style tend to have a terrible standup game in protecting themselves from strikes and standing holds at first.

You can't knee the upper body of a downed opponent which is Muay Thai's no. 1 defense vs takedowns.
You also can't elbow downwards, another strong deffense vs takedowns.
Other non-Muay Thai takedown defenses that are banned are the piledriver, the fish hook and hitting the kidney area of the back.

All this combined is why MMA is so groundwork-heavy compared to vale tudo and street fighting.

I'm going to say Muay Thai, and this is coming from someone that doesn't even practice it. Good luck finding a good teacher though, you'll have to actually go to thailand as far as I can tell. Proper muay thai is the most brutal shit I have ever seen. Someone that knows muay thai well is about on the same threat level for me as some random third worlder with a machete. It's not even the techniques themselves that impress me but the fact that muay thai strategy seems significantly more developed than any other style as far as actual street fighting is concerned. That strategy will probably be almost completely lost in a few decades though, muay thai is subject to the dumbing down of everything that becomes a sport, they've just held on the longest because thai dudes are a bunch of violent niggers.

Hard to say. Mayweather would have a pretty good chance to knock out McGregor in the initial stage of the fight, but if McGregor managed to turn the fist-fight into a grappling game he'd be in his element.

In HEMA, all the old manuals showed grappling as a means to throw your opponent to the ground, then either stab him with a dagger or kick him in the face. In the pseudo-historical sport of Glima, the object is to put your opponent on the ground without going to ground yourself, and then getting up into a fighting position while your opponent is still on the ground. It's based on the premise that, in a battle or combat with more than one opponent, the absolute last thing you want to do is be on the ground where his buddies can just kill you while you're looking for a good hold.

Mayweather would not have a pretty good chance to knock out McGregor. Did you even watch the first rounds? Those clinches would turn into a takedown, then it is straight up over. Please Mayweather didn't even knockout McGregor in the fight, that was a tko due to fatigue.

We're talking about a real fight, not a sporting context. Boxing is a sport first and foremost, but you can't deny that the best boxer can out-punch the best MMA fighter any day, because their entire training program is devoted to punches and nothing else. That said, the best MMA fighter can out-grapple the best boxer, because boxers don't train wrestling.
>>
>>1849671
God damn, seeing how fast and how accurate he throws his entire body into punches, recoveries and movement is pure art.
>>
>>1849800
And having said that, the best Olympic wrestler would make an MMA fighter look like a child in a wrestling game. Specialization is a powerful thing when you can keep the fight in the game you're good at.

Grappling doesn't work in the street. Try holding an armbar while the asshole is biting a chunk off your calf.
>>
>>1849875
that would only work if their calf has nothing covering it, also go to the 7:00 min mark and watch from there.

Lmao, if somebody would bite your leg while you have the armbar, you just fuckin snap his arm. Same with eye-gouging while having a choke, you just tuck your head and put him to sleep. All this Krav maga "too dangerous for competition" shit is just a big meme.

You are forgetting that stand up fighting isn't just boxing. There are kicks, knees, and elbows. Even in stand up without grappling, McGregor would most likely win, also considering Mayweather has never fought without gloves before.

>>
>>1848864
In a bar or crowded party where most fights break out you can't do fucking takedowns or roundhouse kicks. Conor would get his shit pushed in by Mayweather, Conor would be eating floor.
>>
>>1849976
You are correct, except that plenty of fights start and end in the boxing stage. All it takes is a half-way decent punch to the inside of the jaw, the eye, the kidney, solar plexus, or the neck and it's pretty much game over from there. If you're not out of the fight completely, you're trying to recover while your opponent is pressing the attack.

That's why I'm saying, if Mayweather could control the fight and keep McGregor out of grappling range, he stands a pretty good chance of winning. But if McGregor were to close the distance safely without getting knocked out, say with a flying knee or something, he'd be playing a game he's better than Mayweather at. Personally, I think a young Mike Tyson vs McGregor would be a better match-up, but whatever.
>>
>>1850027
Kicks out range punches by far, Mayweather has never had to deal with them, and Connor throws a lot of kicks. Thinking that Mayweather is going to outrange Connor with boxing, when kicks are involved just won't happen.
