Now I'm pissed off.
I found the song name, and technically the song, but not the original music by itself.
Dragon Warrior 3/ Dragon Quest 3
Heavenly Flight (Lamia's Theme)
I would literally boot the game, hop on Lamia, and just let him fly my depressed ass in circles until I felt better.

Anyone know of anything that actually works?

Yes, there is even a plugin to use your mouse instead aiming with your keyboard, makes the game way better if you dont have a controller for your PC.

I was looking for a Nintendo song that I heard a while back, I was sure that it was a Donkey Kong 2 song but after I started looking for it I coudn't find it, it's a super piratey tune, kinda of like a sea shanty? It starts up super upbeat and care free with winds and flutes, but then slowly starts to get dark and foreboding as the drums start to come in and start to beat really heavy, anyone know what i'm talking about?

Whats more tragic is the fact that from the start, no quality recording was ever made, and in my humble opinion, this essemble deserved better.

Psx version uses XA (ADPCM).
Oddly enough, I can't find the audio rip anywhere, and I was kind of intrigued so I went ahead and extracted it.
Fairly easy rip, but I have no idea where to upload (I'm an oldfag when it comes to vgm ripping, no idea where do upload these).

I'm just going to upload the ADPCM, I'll include a copy of vgmstream just in case (worst case scenario you have to drag and drop each file into vgmstream). If you want some form of lossless audio I can provide it as well.

When I was a kid I would always be at Ecruteak city just to hear the music. Hell if I can find my gameboy im sure I would be in Ecruteak right now, I can vividly remember imagining sitting on one of the rooftops and watching the sun set while this was playing. I didn't have bills or responsibilities, ignorance really was bliss. It actually almost brought a tear to my eye and I almost broke. I'm going through a pretty tough time right now and this made it much more bearable. Thanks for sharing this, it really means a lot to me.

I feel you man, Gold/Silver/Crystal are masterpieces.
If you're into this sort of thing, I found the "Johto Legends" project, which is an orchestral arrangement of the G/S music. It's still in the works, but you can find previews online. It'll be on CD and vinyl, if you like having physical media.
It's the same group who just did the Hero of Time OoT orchestra, and that came out fantastic. It made my day to stumble upon it, hope it brightens your day, too.
>>1716552
I also have psf's of Bubsy 3D, I ripped them like 3 or 4 years ago. (I didn't want much to do with vgm at the time and I strayed away until extremely recently, so they are extremely half assed).

>>1674725

>>1727437
>impressionism
sorry what? the hyrule field theme is ambient music and nature soundscapes. its good but its not fucking impressionism. impressionism in music is not only shakily defined by artists that didnt even like the term but it also has a whole lot more going on than ambient music. an occasional phrase here and there is whats featured in botw. impressionistic compositions are much much less empty.
>>1727994
mimicking nature and complimenting nature could easily be put under the same umbrella.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkHtziJgFJI
>>1728030
impressionism is neither mimicking music or complimenting (intentionally) its about how the music feels. the emotions of the music.
>>1728051
you can't say that unequivocally while claiming that it's shakily defined. And you also can't claim that botw isn't impressionism after watching that video.

the music in actual gameplay is not so well arranged
I did like the hyrule castle theme though, especially the dynamic variations when moving inside and outside of the castle buildings
>>1773207
The idea with the wandering music is that it's playing to accentuate the sounds of nature, so of course it isn't going to play constantly. You could argue it could be more contextual, but there's only so much you can bugtest with a game like this. All of the other contextual music is great.
