explorer.exe != windows file picker
changing explorer icons won't change the file picker icons, if you kill explorer.exe you will notice that the start menu is also terminated and restarting it forces the start menu to come back, I also haven't found a way to access the explorer file manager UI without running explorer.exe and making the taskbar come back. Of course you could use a AHK script for that or a modified taskbar with classicshell but still...

The way I first started to mess around with configs is copying other people's and then making edits to them. If you make a mistake you can undo it and it's usually pretty easy to figure out afterwards why that change resulted in an error.

Apparently my copy of windows is not legitimate, so it won't let me keep a background. Is there a way around this? Chrome and Firefox both just their own buttons no matter what you do.

Modified the Monstercat visualizer. The clock also doubles as music controls when clicked, the left/right sides control previous/next, the middle is play/pause, middle mouse toggles shuffle and the scroll wheel controls volume. Clicking the artist/track opens the main winamp menu.

I just switched to Ubuntu from Arch a couple of days ago because I was sick of everything being broken and a pain in the ass to use or just extremely inefficient. I'm using Libreboot so Windows XP or 7 aren't options. I figured Ubuntu was the next best thing. I really like the Unity desktop but orange really irks me. Any good themes to make it blue or green without changing the look and feel too much outside of the colors? Thanks.

That's correct, if you want to change the file picker icons, you need to install x86 icons in the right system folder, not only the x64 version for windows navigation icons on explorer.

No, stop doing that you see, the font you're using for these shortcuts doesn't belong in this kind of wallpaper that resembles a painting and assuming you used a font that looked like a painter's signature it still wouldn't fit because it would look tacky.
Wallpapers are supposed to be looked at, not interacted with, spreading icons apart makes your desktop UI less efficient the same can be said about icons on the desktop (why not just organize them within folders? why bother having a wallpaper if you cover it with icons?)
