READ THE OP BEFORE POSTING!
>Before requesting, here are some tips:
– Request an image ONCE per thread. Do not bump or second - once is enough.
– Check the lists below to see if your request has already been previously fulfilled.
– All requests are welcome, within reason, but remember:
– The poorer the quality of an image (in resolution and drawing ability), the less likely it will be picked up. The more detail seen and higher the resolution, the better.
– Full-body images preferred. Images cut off on 3 or more sides are very unlikely to be picked up due to their limited usage; keep this in mind when finding an image to request. (Hair or skirt edges that are barely cut off don't usually count)
– Requests for removing the background from an image (called a RENDER) and resizing requests should go to the IMT threads.
– Refrain from using renders for requests. Try to find the original non-rendered image; it is easier for vectorists to work with.
– Note: Overly complicated images are unlikely to be picked up due to their nature. IF your request is taken, please have patience.

We tend to use the original picture for the reason already stated as well as demo hates that that is the image we use. I was thinking about having the winning contest image as the next opportunity to the thread however if people like that idea.
>>1889089
Deko said he WAS thinking of remaking that image...
>>1889058
Yes, it is possible to make it bigger, and it's trivial and you can do it all by yourself.

If you don't, then fucking learn already jesus christ.

>>1889058
One with no shadow.
>>1889151
Those of us who have been vectoring longer than you have lurked here expect to be able to see it immediately when scrolling which is why we kept on using the same image.
>>1889041
It's looking better. I meant in general about your lines is that their weights are inconsistent for the most part. Weight can give perspective and focus when used correctly but conversely, it can give a wobbly appearance to your lines, usually because of inexperience with the pen tool. What you want when vector tracing is to have crisp and exact looking lines, it's something acquired with practice. I took one of the tentacles at the back as an example of weight that is all over the place and affixed next to it the way I would make that same outline. Also, about the white lines of her dress, I didn't mean for them to go over the lineart, you corrected them as I was suggesting. Also, as pointed by the circle at the bottom next to her front tentacle, I noticed that there's a small gap in the shading. Last one in her hair is for another example of what I mean by a line that is inconsistent. The difference between the thicker and thinner parts of that same line is too big.
Requesting
So about that side contest death line is it flexible?
>>1889150
Why would hard-corner pixels like that cast shadows with such rounded edges?
>>1889158
The dead (death?) line is flexible. Just let me know so I don't declare a winner deforestation you get yours in.
>>1889167
Light and atmosphere defuse the shadow often causing rounded corners or hazy edges.
>>1889171
>I don´t know how to make hard shadow.
>>1889171
I'd buy that if the shadow was at all hazy, but it's super sharp and the corners are still rounded and it looks off.
Re-requesting
>>1889179
I made it like the original. It had round corners except for the inside corners.
I'm trying to make my first vector. I feel like I'm having lots of trouble keeping my lines a consistent thickness, is there something specific I'm doing wrong so far or is it just something that comes with time and experience?
Could somebody please make these into vectors and maybe increase the quality a bit? I sadly couldnt find them better.
I'd reallly appreciate that.
http://imgur.com/a/ho9Ln
>>1889191
Keep your nodes and handles parallel at all times. Try not to overextend handles or else you risk flattening at the node. Also pay attention to the distance between the two nodes at the V tips of the hair, and make sure that distance is consistent between the other pieces of the hair. Pick a thickness for each area and try to match it to the other lineart. A lot of this comes down to practice, so your first few vectors will suffer, but you will eventually get better.
>>1889155
So I tought that I would try to make the lines smaller kinda like they are in the original one and then suddenly Illustrator crashed which meant I couldn't undo the changes to the file because for some reason illustrator saves on the original file if it chrashes... And the original version is now gone. >.<
But for that reason I did finish the lines now and maybe I'll do to colours tomorrow. I kinda see already that the outlines are bit inconsistent on the left side of her dress and on the tentacles I'll try to fix those tomorrow because I am now too tired to do anything. But let me know if there is something that is too inconsistent so I'll know to fix those before colouring it again.
Re-requesting
>>1889197
Do file->save as and make a new file.
>>1889187
You have two inside corners that are rounded.
this is the one im working on
>>1889197
I've circled in red some of the spots that are inconsistent or just too thin/bold and in green where the thickness is just right. Rule of thumb is to keep your nodes in pairs (which you seem to have been doing already) and make their handles parallel to each other.
I would also personally recommend that you pass on to a new project and not dwell on this one and try to get it perfect for too long since it is only your first attempt. It'll take a lot more practice before your get the gist of it. And again, for a first attempt, it's fairly good.

My apologies. I figured using an image that was regularly requested here would be instantly recognizable. Sorry if all my changes are unwelcome.

Don't take it too hard; the fact you updated links and shit in the OP says you at least meant well.
Finished the lining. I tried following what >>1889196 said about keeping thicknesses consistent, and looking at other vectors I noticed that hair seems to be thickest so I tried to follow that. I feel like I made the lines on the ribbons too thin though, any thoughts on that (as well as anything else I've missed)?

Frightening gifs is the term you were looking for. I still want the one where it has the example of how to do lines back, not that it helped but point and laugh and all that. It still had Deko's "hard work" on display, poor Deko.
What a pain in the ass to find the thread when it is 3 pages in and you have to find it with text.

Your ends are sloppy. I'd also redo the bow at her neck - it looks like strokes. Also thicken it up a TINY bit, since it blends in too much with the other details. It gets lost in the rest.
So Anon you still working on this? if not re request

Mio plays a bass, not a guitar.

>>1889868
First: I did it to trigger autists as a joke
Second: Technically, it IS a guitar - it's the configuration of the instrument form being hand-held over the bass and cello configuration
Third: That's the search that finally got me the image as BASS was not searchable on gelbooru.
So there.
Derpy technically its a Left Handed Electric Bass Guitar.
http://www.zzounds.com/item--FEN0191010?siid=120814
I have one (Its not left handed though.
>>1889904
I know it's a lefty - one of the best scenes is when the girls are going past a music store, and she feigns disinterest, until either Ritsu or Yui states that they see left-handed bass guitars in the store - then she's pressing her face to the window as avidly as the rest.
Opinion from you daul: should I force the font for the "Fender" as a vector, or do you happen to know what font it is based off of? I have tried finding the font, with no success, merely because I am not a musician and have no freaking clue as to the font's inspiration...
>>1889904
>http://www.zzounds.com/item--FEN0191010?siid=120814
Also after seeing this: do you think I should work the bass to look exactly like this one, or is Mio's a different version altogether? the one in the image posted is quite a bit different than the one in her hands...
>>1889924
>http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/fender-8
Thanks for this!
I found that Mio's Bass is an actual model. I'm going to stick with the one in the image, because it is the one verified to be the one she uses...
Thanks for the input again!
>>1889849
As >>1889895 >>1889904 stated, it's proper name is an electric bass guitar so technically it's not wrong.
>>1889918
The logo isn't based off any font unfortunately.
>>1889904
>>1889921
That's actually a Precision Bass, which incidentally is what Mio uses in the manga. However, she's most often depicted with the Jazz Bass because of the anime.
>>1889924
>>1889943
That's actually the modern/current logo, which is marginally different from the one Mio would have on her bass. At the time of the manga/anime, Mio's particular model with the depicted configuration wasn't a standard offering as Fender changes its lineup every year (and I doubt a high school student would have the funds for a Custom Shop model). A lot of people would unknowingly mistaken her bass for the Vintage '62 Reissue that *was* available at the time--I know a lot of music stores in Japan profited from this. Some differences include the bridge cover, pickup cover, thumb rest, and most importantly, the logo. Her bass would have been a mid-late 80s model.
That said, the current Fender lineup actually has a Jazz Bass with the same exact specs as the one depicted in the anime: http://www.fender.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-Fender-Site/default/Product-Variation?pid=product-019370&dwvar_product-019370_var-fingerboard-material=Rosewood&dwvar_product-019370_var-color=3-Color%20Sunburst

Only thing that bugs me (and it isn't your fault) is the "floating" bowstring - there is nothing showing how it is attached - whether by loops in a notch in the bow's ends, or by being wrapped around the bow near the ends...
>>1890548
Hadn't really thought about that, did it in the first way you described.
>>1890569
better, but notched, would not be rings on the bow, they would be indents with a loop - think of like two nooses on each end of the string in two indents - one on each end of the bow...

>Adding stuff to the image decreases the integrity of the original! It's a bastard form of plagiarism.
Stop talking out of your ass. PARODY, and "acceptable" level of plagiarism, only happens if over 55% of an image is changed. What he's changing is about 2% TOPS doing this.
I didn't tell him to NOT credit the original artist, and he sure as hell should NOT be selling it for his profit. Stop making yourself into a moralfag, when all you are is a pedantic twit.
I have made changes to ALL my vectors, because a lot of them were taken up BECAUSE they have such outragesous flaws. I have also changed the colors of dresses from the original, because I hated the fucking purple they used for print (I made it a nice blue, instead)
Does that make me a plagiarist? No, because I have never said they were my images, nor have I taken credit for ANYTHING but making them a vector, so they could be scaled to infinity in both directions.
Stop being the village idiot - just shut the hell up before you make yourself look any dumber.

Her right (on our left) breast looks strange and off and I can't quite put my finger on it.
I think it's to do with the soft shadow used for the underside compared to the hard line on the left one making them look imbalanced.
>>1891311
That is pretty damn impressive at first glance it almost didn't look like something that could be produced from a vector.
The only thing i wanted to point out it is almost not worth mentioning is this one line in the hair pic related, it kind of looks a bit too mechanical for hair.
>>1891250
I honestly can't recommend the curvature tool. It is an incredibly simplified and limited version of the pen tool. You are much better off learning how to use the pen tool properly, or learning how to make patterns.
>>1891314
I already know the pen tool. The curvature didn't exist when I started vectoring. It does eliminate a lot of tedium. I don't necessarily follow the vectoring guidelines set forth on this board. I usually just lurk and comment here.

>>1891668
Here is an alignment of the sheath, it is a mess. Every visible section is shifted and then angled different.
Request.
>>1891660
I used the initial sections to do the aliggnment. Scimitars and katanas follow an arc, and this artist you traced from didn't have enough common sense to follow either arc properly, which is why it's still wrong whether it is a scimitar or a katana. I did a "best guess" on getting what the curve SHOULD be, from the initial pieces, and to show how off and wrong the lines were.
As nakki pointed out here>>1891670
The artists and you (following by default) did not size the lines up to anything properly.
Now, look at my guitar for Mio - I made the guitar in RED following all lines properly , then I snipped the lines where it went under arms, legs or clothing to ensure everything aligned as it should when I snipped out those bits of each line.
... And the way that artist drew the sword: That's closer to a falchion than a scimitar - you can tell because the flair in the sword happens at the major arc, then tapers back closer to the hilt. The scimitar is closer to a katana in how it keeps its distance at pints, but curves a bit more than the katana's graduated curve....
>>1891764
Pink is falchion, Orange, scimitar and purple katana, just for how the blades curve in general - I was using paint, and cannot accurately get the curves and blade lines done. You can see though, that using ANY of these sword styles is wrong with what the artist had drawn.

Is this doable for a vector? Only the person, not the background. Im going to try my hand at it myself but maybe someone here can do a better job at it. And before you ask this is the best quality of this image i could find.
>>1891826
Details are very low, especially for her face. Unless you either are good at redrawing or can find a picture of that same characters face seen from much closer in the same angle, I wouldn't recommend doing that image. >>1892834
HAHA I didn't even LOOK at the hilt. Now that you mentioned it, I can't unsee.
I couldn't find any based on tags but does anyone know of any ZTR vectors that have already been done? Any ZTR works.

>>1892877
What is ZTR?
>>1892911
Zettai Ryouiki 絶対領域 lit "absolute territory"
refers to the area of skin on the legs/thighs between the bottom of the skirt and the top of the socks, and then ranked from F to S, S rank is the same as A rank but with the addition of the wearer having a twin tails hairstyle and a Tsundere personality for example Kagami from lucky star.
Please pretty please
>>1892988
That forgot "S" - none
>>1893045
S-rank is only A with a tsundere wearing them, hard to depict that in a picture, unless you posted Tohsaka Rin or something
>>1893074
S is also bare foot

Updated alignment of hilt. Thanks for the help.
Small update on Rikka & Sanae, Dekomori's line art is getting close to finished, I'm going to move on to Rikka then come back and tidy up any mistakes and make some further tweaks. I will probably redo the eyes with gmesh.
Any critiques are appreciated.

Catched a few things that bug me. First, the top of the crown could look more symmetrical, either move the tip or make it round. Not sure if it was intentional but you left the inside of her ear black instead of dark brown like the rest. Also not sure if I like the color you picked for her mouth and nose, it seems a bit too light. Fingers of her left hand look like they're detached from her hand, also the thumb shouldn't be that short, it's supposed to go all the way up and under her hair, refer to the example. For her eye, I don't see why you would need meshes, they're simple enough where they could be done with normal radial gradients and solid shapes like I demonstrated on the attached pic but in the end it's up to you. Also, try and avoid having points going too thin when adjacent to a thicker line like on her right hand, it gives a pretty bad contrast in line thicknesses. Lastly, the lineart area I circled on her skirt shouldn't have part of the shadow in it, it could work if you did this to stylize and added it to multiple areas but, as a stand alone like this, it looks out of place.
From Seto no Hanayome or My Bride is a Mermaid. The 1080p was just an upscale and wasn't any better in quality.
Please, thank you and I'll be around.

Sort of again 90% certain I'm not going to be able to finish my contest entry... I just took on too big of a job here. Feel like posting some progress for the people who watched a few of my streams when I was getting started on this, but also just for the sake of posting some progress because I feel like I'm going to go very crazy very soon.

There is not very soon you are already crazy.

Welcome to the club!

I knew the hand looked very off but I wasn't sure how to fix it, thanks for the example. Yeah, radial gradients seemed to work best for the eyes. I planned to tweak the line art colour once I finished the internal colouring. For the lone shadow on the skirt I was testing to see what those small shadows would look like, I added the rest, not sure if I will keep them. Thanks a lot for the help Deko!~
Can I get this image rendered?
Update. Working on the colors now, to find a good blend - the colors I am picking in the image are mostly washed out badly, so I am getting some basics down to determine how to make the dress look nice, but still have the bass pop.
Requesting these Pretty Cure sybols, but if possible made better and more regular. I don't know if I'm being clear.

I second Anon's request, someone make a vector of this! its just too damn cute!
Hey Dekodere this is late as fuck, but thanks for filling that Salvatore request, I never knew you did it and stumbled upon your D.Art page. Sorry for the late thanks.
>>1893750
No seconding or bumping - once per thread, please.
>>1893761
Ah, I know. Its just so damn cute. Id make it myself if i knew how to vector
>>1893770
Read and watch the tutorials in the OP and you will know how to vector.
That's kinda what they're there for.
>>1893758
I keep the expectation that the requester might be gone by the time the vector is done but thanks for letting me know, I'm always glad to know that my work was useful to someone.

Fix the fuzziness of the scissors outline - that tanline would be sharp.
>>1895607
While Minimalists are usually vectors, it's not the same thing - you're missing the details for the full affect. This most likely came form the minimalist threads some time ago.
HE might still appreciate it, though...
Humbly requesting, if anyone's feeling insane enough. Thanks for all the work you guys do.
First time vectoring... It's very much still a work in progress, but I wanted to see if I was on the right track or if there was a lot of stuff I should correct first.
>>1895913
I'd suggest completing the lineart first, then do the coloring. I'll let more experienced people commentate the technical aspects of your vector
>>1889198
seconding this
>>1895913
Another suggestion is that you post the original picture and the vector separately, and the vector being larger so it's easier to see details.

There's no shine in the hair, and the plaid pattern on the skirt looks really flat; fanart for the series tends to depict it with a much more realistic plaid pattern like this here http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1256145
If you don't feel like going crazy and redrawing all of the more-complicated pattern I'd recommend at least darkening the overlap of the lines.
requesting blue snow plz
>>1896150
Added the shine that I somehow forgot. About the skirt, I was using this reference https://yande.re/post/show/125573 and also, I did try to darken the overlaps of the pattern but it didn't look good.
>>1894100
... aaaaand abandoned. The colors were not working for this. It was either too bright or didn't look like lolita stuff.
I'll find another image to do, someday...

>>1896158
That's sad to hear, I liked that image.
>>1896201
*"Color" I hate my cellphone.
>>1896201
Thanks, but no - It wasn't working, no matter what I do - the dress is black, the bass is black and her hair is black. And using the colors given, even using the semi-contrasting blue did not make anything but the bass pop. It was my flaw for not finding one with better color differentiations in the first place.
>>1896221
I did too, which is why I spent over 6 days straight messing with meshes and colors to try to get it to fit. I even went back to the original colors, and, even washed out, the bass was the main focus, instead of the girl, because of how crisp the colors were, by comparison.
>>1896223
I figured. I have traitorous fingers, so I feel your pain.
Maybe next time, I'll have the sense to not look for a "challenge" and just go for one that makes a good "pop" in all the right places.

When I saw that thumbnail I was expecting something like this when I opened it haha
