If someone actually owned an Atari Lynx console, how did they even carry it with them?
>>
Fannypack
>>
>>2929049
I had one as a kid, my mom used to carry it with her in her bag.
Or a backpack.
>>
Model 2 is quite a bit smaller but yeah, you needed a bag or case up until 1996
>>
>>2929049
back pocket. didn't even bend.

School backpack.
>>
>>2929049
I had a lynx and it had a custom carry case.

So worth it for dat display and color
>>
I never took mine anywhere. I just played it at home, plugged into the wall because the thing ate batteries faster than a skinny, Japanese kid eats hot dogs.

>>2929552
>dat display and color
You never had one, did you? Not a single one of the games actually looked all that great and the backlight burned your retinas after a while. Horrible little machine. Out of the few dozen games released for it, maybe six were any good.
It was just altogether bad.
>>
>>2929191
It's like a man purse that holds an Atari
>>
>>2929586
It was better than B&W gameboy at the time
>>
>>2929743
Except for portability, battery consumption, and what was that third thing? Oh yeah, GAMES.
>>

>>2929750
has there been a better TOLD post in recent memory?
>>
>>2929750

>>
>>2929772
The GB had better visibility than the Lynx and Game Gear put together.

Why the fuck would you want a portable console that becomes completely unplayable once you take it outside?
Seriously, the battery lifespan was shorter than your dick, the screen visibility was lower than your I.Q and the console itself was bigger and heavier than the turd I dumped on your mom's twat.

I have the D-cell battery pack. I'd throw that and my Lynx II into my backpack. When NiMH became more common, I'd use those.

lol.

>>
>the CFL backlight was responsible for two thirds of the power draw
Somebody has LED modded that thing, right?
>>
>>2929049
I had one for a brief period. I just used it at home, Was a great bit of kit though, which at the time Atari had very little of.
>>
Very disappointed that my lynx doesn't have working left or b buttons. Is that typically a cleaning problem or an issue with the ribbon cable connecting the controls to the mobo?
>>
>>2930596
Affirmative
https://youtu.be/uBHiWqV_V_I
You don't actually gain much in the way of battery life but holy fuck does it look better
>>
>>2930242
I assume you have never tried to play with a Lynx or a Game Gear under sunlight, anon.
>>
>>2930621
Is this shit available for the GameGear? I love the GG, but I rarely play it because the screen gives me migraines from the eye strain after too long.
>>
In a backpack over one shoulder while wearing a flannel hoodie and drinking Snapple like every other 90's douche.

>>
>>2930918
Are you sure both systems can use the same screen?
>>
>>2931205
It's not the same screen and quite a bit more involved installing it compared to the Lynx.

Developed by the same guy (McWill) though and equivalent quality i.e excellent
>>
>>2929772
We are discussing the Atari Lynx new friend
>>
>>2929049
Are you a Jawa?
>>
Considering the target audience of the Lynx probably wore JNCOs I'm sure they didn't have a problem bringing them along.
>>
Imagine if they released the Lynx 3, same design as the original model but smaller/thinner and with more room for the screen.
then load roms from an SD card. (or micro SD)

Wireless link.

you think that's big?!!
Check out my SupaBoy
>pic related
I freaking love this thing. You still get "that feel" of inserting your old game carts but on a portable. It's a little big but it fits nicely in my small backpack I usually have with me.I Can carry a few game carts with me and it's great to strike up a conversation with other retrofags. Resembles the original controller, Light-weight, very responsive, good screen resolution and has a long ass battery life. It's not a bad deal for 60 bucks! I love playing it lying down too. It's a whole new world for SNES fags
>as for the two downfalls I have. The portable itself is pretty large but that was expected so that it could fit all the hardware and allow space to insert your cartridges. Also if you get a little frustrated on some tougher games and shake the Supaboy with some force the screen will go black and you will have to reset.
That being said, would definitely recommend to anyone a fan of the SNES
>>
>>2931826
The difference is the Atari Lynx was a real product, not some 3rd party BS
>>
>>2931826
A handheld that new and that big still having a 3.5 inch screen seems retarded. Just looking at it they could easily fit at least 4.8 inch in there.
>>
>>2931829
I understand that. The question was "how did anyone even carry it with them?" I answered that question by providing a comparison with my SupaBoy as well as a review if any retrofags were interested in it.
If it helps, I still have my Sega Game Gear from when I was a kid in working condition. I use to take it with me in my backpack with my gameboy and a bunch of games. Larger portables aren't really that hard to carry with you if you have a backpack and good transportation.

>>2931843
You are absolutely right. The screen could definitely be bigger. I got it on a late night drunken Ebay impulse buy. For 60 bucks with free shipping its not a bad deal considering new platform games are more expensive than that. If they made a few improvements on it the sales price would probably increase. So for a 3rd party, cheap piece of plastic the damn thing works pretty good.

>>
>playing handhelds anywhere but home
Do people really do this?
>>
>>2933140
I keep a DMG under my car seat, and sometimes carry along my SP or 3DS when I'm going somewhere. I tend to sit in my car often since my job has me going from place to place, and my time is flexible.
>>
>>2933093
You /vr/tards are tense. This is literally a board for the discussion of retro gaming and you are just acting childish.
>>
>>2933140
Yeah. that's why they're often called portables.
>>
>>2933080

Is this shilling? Your phrasing just feels so awkward and forced, something isn't right with your posts and it's obvious.

>>
>>2933080
It's shit. And I'm not just saying that because every unpaid review says so. I've used it. It's shit.
Whether you're a shill or just underage you shouldn't be posting this shit here.
