How many Golisopod do I need to run Golisopod GX/Lurantis Promo? And what ratio should I run on Lurantis Promo and GX?

Pulled 4 Salazzle-GX, but none of Golisopod-GX or Muk-GX.

To be fair, you can also sacred fire which while only having base 50 can be amped a lot.

+30 per steam up and then +30 for choice band.
Meaning you can do a lot to active but with having the option to snipe for 50.

Most decks have specific goals which can be countered. Usually, you will have some techs to deal with matches that you consider unfavorable.

For example, M-Ray players need a full bench to reach maximum damage. This can be countered with Parallel City or Sudowoodo, both of which reduce bench space.

Greninja Break focuses on Ability based damage, it can be countered with Ability locking cards.

EX/GX heavy decks can be countered by baby Alolan Ninetales.

You get the picture. Any strategy you build your deck around will have some sort of unfavorable match up besides the weakness factor.

Math is important too. Say you are playing Garbodor Trashalanche but the opponent sets up without using any items.thats 0 damage. Or in MRay they cap out at 240 damage. They cannot one shot Metagross GX or Wailord ex since they have 250 hp. when the math becomes unfavorable is when a deck can have an advantage.

Decks that rely on energy denial to win, when the opponent can recur energy through things like elektrik dynamotor or bronzong metal links is another form of advantage. There are more examples but really you have to play those match ups to see it for yourself. Different decks have different interactions in strength/weakness.

Another thing is the type weakness. You lighting isnt as common as water so the weakness advantage isnt there when you play volcanion vs volcanion all day long. Now you got ho-oh that can 1 shot and they cant cheese you with type weakness right back. difference between 1hko or 2hko can decide the entire game.

Keep doing the challenges and open all the locked boosters. After lv 16 I think you should start getting unlocked boosters. Otherwise you can get some code cards online if you dont plan on getting boosters.

Me personally I collect and get a elite trainer box every expansion. Those codes should be enough to trade for some decent cards.

Whenever youre feeling confident make a standard deck and start getting vs rewards. I think you still get currency if you lose now.

The market has to get it's supply from somewhere. Trading for staples and desired cards is smarter than trying to open for them, but opening packs is how those cards even get to the market in the first place. If you want something specific, save packs and get it. Then after you have what you need why not just open stuff to see what you get? Saving up 500 packs is good and all but what do you even need that many for? SR Ultraballs and FA Ns?
That said, I really wish there was a way to grind extra cards into coins or something for PTCGO.

That is actually the point. There is such an over-saturation of cards being opened, that packs have tremendous buying power. Even chests are respectable. Hell pikachu avatar packs can pick up small stuff and then flip for real packs. I sincerely doubt people who need lele are going to open random packs for it if they have 500 packs stockpiled. The issue with any player struggling to build the staples is they dont save their packs, and hope that pulling singles from packs will get them what they need. Whatever a player wants to do with their packs is fine but eventually they are going to need to save packs for a new card or whatever flavor of the month deck pops up. having 500 packs left over makes that a trivial issue to ever worry about. Blinging is more vanity, but there is profit in flipping bling cards too.

The "supply" can partly be from more casual players who open every pack they get, then go and trade anything they get for more packs. Supply problems would only come about if every single player dealt optimally.

No ultra ball has always been a 3 card combo. The specific cards doesnt matter. You just need any 2 to pay cost for the ultra ball being played. harambe and plumeria is a 4 card combo. 2 specific cards and 2 for discard. and of course it requires your opponent to have an energy to discard that energy anyways
but yes harambe is a decent hand refiller for standard.

actually this card is really devastating in match ups that have no energy acceleration when I think about it. Back in VirGen you wanted to open Virizion and 1 grass plus any other energy for emerald slash to set up your Genesect for the rest of the game. Things like crushing hammer would set you back 1 whole turn if you went first. The goal was turn 3 emerald slash and plumeria with vs seeker could make it so they never even get to play. Now with aqua patch, volcanion, metagross, garde etc energy acceleration has power creeped energy denial, or rather wouldnt auto lose if you kept spamming plumeria. But with some thinking this card could blow out decks that have no energy acceleration, if they still exist that is.

Did I fuck my MMR in ptcgo?

Because I wanted to wait for the next set to test meta changes I played a TON of theme to pass time. I used theme to do all of my daily challenges every day for a month so I was using the bad ones just for energy type and that was all I played.

So I started testing new decks today and I noticed I am no longer constantly playing mainstream meta decks anymore but people with meme decks like Honchcrow and Typhlosion. Out of the 7 games I played the only meta deck I saw was a single volcanion.

TLDR did I fuck my MMR because I played nothing but bad decks in theme for a month? If so does that thing ever reset?

is there a list of budget decks somewhere?

Theme and standard/expanded/legacy have two different elos.

This has been confirmed before I believe by a dev, it's unclear how elo is calculated between the others but your theme elo doesn't affect your other elo. It might just be more people playing within your elo causing you to play meme decks and before you were typically being paired up. Plus losing to anyone below your elo will slowly pull you down.

I believe Omnipoke, YellowSwellow, and TrainerChip typically do a lot of budget decks.

Off the top of my head, the most budget deck out there is Drampa/Garbador and will probably remain affordable after rotation. Espeon/Garbodor is also pretty budget for the most part.

This deck is really fun but I am finding Max potions to be kind of worthless. I swapped one out for another super scoop up just now but IDK if 4 seems right either. Any suggestions? I am currently testing it as a post rotation deck.

Not him but, might as well build for post-rotation. Drop the Seekers and Hex, drop the Karen since that's mainly to counter Vespiquen which is rotating, up counts of other supporters. I play Necrozma and a third psychic energy as my tech of choice over Koko, and it's already come in handy a few times, especially in the mirror match where I Black Rayed after they Tapu Cured to soften their Metagross back up. I also play 4 Candies and 3 Choice Bands as opposed to the count in that list, but that's to your taste.

I had a close match running Metagross against Volc earler. Necrozma pulled through for me, got all his Volcs and Turts into KO range for a single swing for Metagross and proceeded to get a few KOs by itself. Ban all players who spam the trade section. Keep up trade ratio. Shit ratios will get you warnings if you SPAM. Good ratios will have less token costs. Trades can be locked for the week but you can only post a few less. This way card values are more competitive. The problem with pub is there wont always be every single card on public market 100% of the time. But it might pop up once a week but the 2 day cost is very heavy especially on cards that rarely in demand. So by keeping trades up longer you can get better value since people will undercut each other constantly. Right now the way to get advantage is to simply spam public every 8 hours. No newbie is going to scroll all the way up, but they will take offers around the 1 hour mark since its easier to find. Actually the entire public market interface needs to be reworked. The loading is atrocious. Ban accounts that are obviously multies. Those accounts that put up 100 offers of 1 evolutions pack for your tapu lele for 48 hours are using multies to save their token costs by accepting their own trades right before it times out. This is a known exploit that still isnt being dealt with.

A way to turn off animations like it was 3 years ago. these animations slow the game down and caused many bugs. For fucks sake celebi prime is still bugged after all these years.

Weavile is the sleeper of the set. If they release good help for it it'll be the new Garb.

I changed it up a bit as I played more. I am up to 13 wins and 1 loss with this deck the 1 loss was from not having a nongx against baby Ninetails. I actually could have won too by decking my opponent who could not kill anything with the Ninetails but I missplayed with my N bouncing the wrong poke to my hand to have more cards in my deck to shuffle in.I still am wondering if I should put another Raikou in the deck over one of those scoop ups for more control against lock out like Ninetails.

Either way it is really fun and I am winning against decks who are still using prerotation cards like VS seeker so IDK if that says something.

Side not Jolteon is a Norse god right now and a vast number of players just quit when they see it on the board because they just net deck and never think they will see one.

on top of actual decision-making, the two big skills that come with a game like this is odds management and deckbuilding

deckbuilding will allow you to have consistent good hands (sure you'll dead draw once in a while, but you build your deck in a certain way for it to happen as least as possible)
odds managements is about all the little things you can do to avoid relying on rng or losing it (for example: deck thinning so you put odds on your side to not lose to late-game N)

there is a reason there are players who consistently make top 32/top 8/worlds for years; you won't win EVERY games, and you'll lose to worse players or by dead drawing, but your goal is to be as consistent as possible over a long period of time

I desperately want to believe this, but every game feels like such a coinflip to me. Often it feels like none of my decisions matter, and whoever has the better draw just wins on the spot. What format do you play, and what deck?

Going off a tangent here, but I'd also like to say:
People tend to think that decisions matter more in slower-paced formats. For example, whenever you'll see people talk (or read articles) about Garbodor-
Ssableye in expanded, they'll say the deck requires a very skilled player to do well with it at a tournament, and that deck is hella slow. You also have to possess a good knowledge of every matchup and long-term decision making whenever you use junk hunt.

You also have old time players saying old formats were very skill-based, because they had a lot of options but also were slower in general (talking EX/DPP/HGSS eras here).

Anyway, have you tried getting into legacy? It's a slower-paced format that is really fun imo, altho the cost to get into it can be a bit discouraging at first.

I kinda felt the same way as you in the previous and super fast paced format, but I think Garbodor's influence on standard has been very healthy in that regard since it punishes people who just rushes through their deck without really thinking about it. The loss of VS Seeker will also force people to be more cautious in their discards/early game aggression after rotation.

Finally, you might wanna try decks that play the long-con, as they reward game knowledge and decision making (for example, Primal Groudon in expanded, but that one is annoying to build since it really wants Tropical
Beaches).

I'll also mention that no matter how good you get, there are still some bullshit mechanics in that game that will make you powerless, such as turn 1 itemlock, but that is only a real issue in expanded at it stands.

I think you are grossly missing one key fact. Those pro players are good, but they invest all their time, and money into those events. They live and breathe pokemon as a job, as a lifestyle. Their dedication is something more than what a random who wins their regionals and falls off the face off the planet would put forth. Their is skill in deck building, and risk taking with moves for KOs but to name drop pro players people always fail to mention that those same pro players invest so much into the game than it just being a hobby. I would tell any player who wants to "git gud" how much are you willing to devote of your existence into a card game? How important is it for you to follow meta trends, learn the newest deck, travel to events?

Hidden moon is strong but not unbeatable. If you play a rogue theme deck choice chances are your opponent wont know how to grind against it. The problem from hidden moon has always been lunala one shotting everything in the game, and darkness weakness being a non issue

I say you played bad or had a bad matchup. The deck looks like it plays like the old M Gardevoir deck. Powerful if set up but with a long ramp and a fragile board state. I played a deck similar to this, so it might be net-decked from somewhere, and stomped it. I think the only meta deck it would be good against is Garb if you can set up with few items. Everything else should be able to deal with it.

So Necrozoma with Metagross GX. Necrozoma can hit 180 for volcanion Meta sweeps Gard GX. memeish or next level meta once hex maniac rotates?

How many burning shadows or guardians rising do you reckon i could get for an SR Lightning and an SR psychic?

Necrozma is good as a one or two of in a Metagross list but you shouldn't be running more than 3 or 4 psychic energy in that deck Metagross is better in most matchups.

try 6 GRI then go lower from there. check what other people are SELLING theirs for. Thats your competition. Not the guys offering 2 packs. ignore them thats a trap always check what the other sellers are settling at.

Necrozma can hit for 190 without a Choice Band which even helps with those pesky Lapras and Zygardes. It's definitely helped me out a lot. Great for an across-the-board blast in the mirror match too. I tried a Metagross deck with Araquanid thrown in as suggested earlier in the thread, three times now it's won me games against Volc and Typhlosion.
