I do use logic (eg I consider the insides & outsides of Mt Pyre/Mt Ember/Mt Chimney/etc to be different even though trainer memo is the same); my logic just doesn't require that the locations be laterally separate. And if it's good enough for the trainer memo to consider it different then it should be good enough for me

Haven't played SM because I haven't checked for a while if there's a decent 3DS emulator yet - would someone going solely by the trainer memo there make less or more catches?

Whether or not to split Route 1 into Route 1 North, Route 1 South, and Route 1 Trainer's School. It's what's commonly called "Pinwheel Clause," in reference to Black and White's Pinwheel Forest and how its outside and inside sections have drastically different encounters.

Personally, I enter the Save menu. Whatever area "Save" says I'm in, that's how I count it. The example earlier was the Lapras and Hitmons in Saffron City. When inside the Fighting Dojo, the Save screen, or "memo," says "Saffron City." When getting Lapras within Silph Co., it reads "Silph Co."

So there are some examples of how it can be beneficial in some gens, and detrimental in others. It's a heated topic among Nuzlockers, for sure.

I generally go "Route 1 Main, Hau'oli Outskirts, and Trainer School", but that's the only area I apply Pinwheel Clause to. It's basically just to get through the earliest parts. Besides, the Trainer School is the only area you're likely to get something rare anyway. Even if you ignore the forced Pikipek on Route 1's first part, good luck getting to the grass where Grubbin or Pichu are without triggering another encounter first, and it'll probably be Ledyba.

It's a cheap trick to make fights "harder" without blatantly raising up levels. Obviously never mentioned because it would make people mad but most 'kaizo' romhackers still use it. Really been ploughing through White the past couple of days, I'm the guy doing a Grey Colourlocke. I've just defeated Clay, and I'm still deathless. It's going well.

>Rebecca the Cinccino, Jolly, Technician (awesome combination, too bad Skill Link is BW2 exclusive as Tail Slap is still too weak)

All are level 31 except Cinccino, which got to level 32 during Clay. I cannot evolve Gurrdurr because of the rules, but she makes for a good Eviolite tank and defeated that Excadrill. I'm having a lot of evolutions in a short space of, and both Herdier and Tranquill are very close to reaching that level 32 evolution as well. Escavalier has made a great tank so far, but the nature and ability combo is absolute ass, while Cinccino was near worthless until evolving and took two of Clay's Pokemon out.

In the PC I have some illegible Pokemon like my starter Tepig, Pansage, and a Ducklett I caught just incase I lose my potential Fly and Surf users. The only eligble backup so far is Irene the Quiet Poison Point Whirlipede, which I also cannot evolve. Chargestone Cave will grant me either Klink or Ferroseed, though I want Ferroseed so I can get Klink in P2 Laboratory, and then I get either Durant or Terrakion in Victory Road. And that's it. Two or three Pokemon left to capture. Well, there's Zekrom too, but that will only be forced onto the team if I get to N with less than 6, and I cannot use it.

No, it's just that static encounters make your team less diverse and tend to be pretty "boring". Not everyone wants to have Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur in Yellow. Not to mention there's some RomHacks that are infamous for giving way too many giftmons.

I'm at Mistralton now and I have one more catch in the entire game, and there's Darmanitan between now and then, aka probably the scariest thing for me to face.

I'm back! Made my way to Azalea Town and caught Paris the Mareep on Route 32. I also got the Old Rod and went back to Cherrygrove City to fish up an encounter, King Swishy the Magikarp.

Went through Union Cave and caught Joanna the Machop. Wasn't expecting the last guy to have Feint Attack Magmar. Crasher almost died, but Rhino came in and killed it.

Route 33 I caught Cicely the Flabebe. And now I am in Azalea. I think I'm going to train before entering the Slowpoke Well (and get my encounter there.) Hocus and Rhino (Ember and Aerial Ace respectively) should take care of Bugsy.

Avalon evolved into Espeon. I was originally going to evolve him into Jolteon, because it's my favorite Eon, but I figured Espeon would be better for the team as a whole, since I may or may not bring Mareep in.

Who do you think is better for the team, Ampharos or Crobat? I honestly don't mind one over the other. Just wanted some inputs

Took a break from Nuzlocking after getting fucked in an X Nuzlocke run. Restarting everything from zero and going to start from the ground up with Pokemon Blue up to Sun, remakes included.

Defeated the grunts in Slowpoke Well and got Quix the Slowpoke.

Went to defeat Bugsy, everything was going fine until his Scyther. I KNEW it had Aerial Ace, but I thought my Heracross would be faster, PLUS Rhino had a Moxie boost. And I taught it Rock Tomb as well.

I guess I was too greedy and underestimated Scyther. Scyther One-hit Heracross. It was nice having you Rhino ;_;7

Hocus came in, got hit by Aerial Ace, went into red HP. My Sitrus Berry healed it up, got off a Flame Charge and got a speed boost. Hocus was now faster, and took out Scyther and the following Swadloon to secure the badge.

Now I get to train Paris the Mareep before heading into Ilex Forest.

Update

Forgot about the rival fight, luckily no deaths. Caught a Snover in Ilex Forest and a Bronzor on Route 34. Unfortunately a trainer on that Route had a Galvantula and killed Avalon my Espeon, and starter. I'm devastated.

Made it to Goldenrod, and defeated the trainers in the Underground Pass. I'm wanting to get my Goldenrod Encounter in the Game Corner, but I think I'm going to try to defeat Team Rocket and Whitney before I do.

Moltres is deep into mt. pyre/victory road, articuno deep into seafoam and zapdos deep into the power plant

There are some cases where it's virtually impossible to find certain pokemon without repels (like if you want to get something that's only on the second floor of a cave). Dupes clause is super common so I don't think repel cheesing is that much of a stretch. For legendaries, maybe, but not for getting potentially more interesting catches.

You can do it if you want, i don't like it, i can capture what i want when i play normally - it's not like its impossible to get slowpoke without doing that (its just harder).

Even with my newly evolved Gloom Wattson was a fucking pain. Gloom tanked Voltorb's Selfdestruct like a champion because I was scared it might have Rollout. Magneton had amazing coverage for Shedinja (Supersonic) so I pretty much had to stall it out. Manectric was a cakewalk.

That being said, my team gets completely demolished by Flannery. I'll either have to grind up Marill (which I've been reluctant to do for some reason) or find a Magikarp or something.
