100 is the cap. At lv 100, all berries gain a retarded amount of JP. Oran berry gives 3M2 iirc, and lava cookie gives about 10M. Upgrading only 2 berries reaches the milestone when they're at lv 100, then you can save the coins to get each of the berry to lv 100. With this approach, you gain much more JP average than spending coins on multiple berries.

If gengar was 300 or even 400 diamonds, it'd be worth it. Since being able to capitalize on other JP boosting skills and food (including stacking with JP Ups) is unique, it has use, but even with the starmie bubbler it still has a 12.5 hour cooldown and since you'd need litten and greninja to ensure it's worth it, it has a 750 diamond prerequisite. Essentially, gengar will be more useful when the level cap is pushed to 100 which it inevitably will be. For now, it's useless.
I have it because I farmed for enough diamonds to get everything prepared and I like em, so I'll greentext how I use him

The Macho Karp event you can get randomly after losing a league battle also has a chance to raise the max level by one, but also carries the risk of losing your Magikarp by having it evolve into Gyarados.

Well there seems to be buyer's remorse and praise for popplio and Charizard so avoid those two until you need one or the other. The lilligant deco is nice, greninja is good, gengar sucks unless you like to stack LP Ups on skills and have a lot of money, and the heal league's decoration is pretty good.

The main exploit is using Charizard and slowpoke to get items etc. The more friends the better, popplio is good for his coins and gems occasionally.

However outside of that it might not be worthwhile unless you want to power level your karps from.
It costs 150 gems, or a revive herb for each journey.
So making sure you go back far enough and having Charizard to hopefully replace the herb you used is important

If you happen to have spent money and have the drill gem collector.
Every day you travel also gives 100 gems, so that's how to get the most out of it but requires spending money.

Admittedly I've spent money in PoGo but to exploit the game by using skill refreshes to time travel by buying a diamond drill isn't worth it. Alright gents.. I have discovered a way for quasi-permanent 50% JP boost.

It costs at most 350 gems
Basically you need a skill refresh (or make sure every support you have is ready to use - that said I haven't confirmed that)
Also need a power up item or have Gengar support (this trick might make the purchase of him worth it now, but still maybe not)

I have confirmed it to work with both gengar activation and the power up item.

All you do is,
>travel into the future (which should make supports free)
>activate gengar or the power up item
>while it is active close the app
>go to settings and set the date back to normal
>enter the app again
>skill refresh should remove the time warning if there is one and fix any supports cooldowns
>you will now have JP boost for as long as the date you time travelled to

I'm about to go do a clean test to see if skill refresh is needed
I learnt this trick playing around backwards in time and without an internet connection.
Though it should theoretically work if we go forward and return to the present so the internet time is normal.

Okay so it worked.

Though some of my supports have a 40-50 hour cooldown. I think I had used them a few days in the future prior to this test though.
I went about a year forward in time and it works.

When I came back to the present and started the app I got the recently changed time message.
I did a training session and exited
Really entered and no time message

So I can assume that this will cost 200 gems for the power up or have gengar as support.
Skill refresh doesn't appear to be needed.
Someone else might want to test it but ideally have a skill refresh just to be safe.

Also as to how to fix/get rid of the JP boost.

So as long as you haven't fucked around in the future before and don't use supports up there it'll literally only cost the 200 gems for the power up.

I'll try again one last time, this time using gengar to activate it. I did power up first because it's more accessible to everybody.

Funnily enough I discovered this with gengar.
I have a feeling gengar might need a skill refresh, not for himself as it won't matter since he can't use his skill while a JP boost is active (yeah power up item and gengar don't stack, for the record)
But if any support has been used in the future it could prevent all supports from working in the past ie big cooldown until the future time.

I tried using the non JP supports to sort of help him come out (I'm thinking while on cooldown supports might be less likely to appear)

My fellow Charizard bros have probably been gifted these and can avoid the 200 gem cost.

This is the renewed steps for how to do it

>turn off airplane mode

This is the JP gain from both Litten and Greninja at max level.

Greninja cost double than Litten, needs more candies than Litten (37 vs 45), cooldown timer is nearly 1/3 longer than Litten (3h30m vs 5hr) while giving only ~16% more JP than Litten at max level.

Frog is just a diamond sink. Same as Gengar (the berries from Snorlax at max lv gives more than the JP from Greninja and Litten, when berries are at high lv). Litten is a meh-tier support, but frog and ghost are just bad.

Nothing much that you have to do on your part, just play as per normal. In 1.0.2 after you defeat EL3 you start back at the start of EL3, but there is a "feature" that causes the game to reward you diamonds each time you complete EL3, so you are able to get diamonds as fast as you can clear the league.

Something like that. It'd take ages to get the gems just from popplio so playing the trainings and eating berries etc each time leap would be advised to get to a good position

Might not be the most fun but it's a solid strategy for making it proficiently without ever paying a cent.
