Paint or Gimp or Photoshop or Aseprite. Then show grid after you make your sprite. You can't put a template on the canvas, you have to manually overlay it and resize the sprite up/down to make it fit. Fully zoomed out the canvas has everything show as 1 pixel exactly which helps.

Ok, unrelated to the Eevee discussion, but I'm getting a little annoyed here. I've been working on the Gen 1 Mew duo since Sunday, and as far as I know, that space was unoccupied until late Tuesday night, when that Pikachu's ears started forming. As of today, someone has been plugging along with that tail, moving into the space I measured out for Mewtwo. I've been continually building up his arm in the hopes that the Pikachu maker would take the hint, but whoever it is has actually been working around me, building the tail up as fast as I can draw. If the Pikachu guy is here, please stop - Mewtwo has been placed so as to align with the Mew next to him.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I meant on the right side(where that pink flower is. The band looks like it's pushing on the ear, adding a percieved weight to the object.
Having a little bit of decoration on the top-side(as I stuck in the related image) helps alleviate that percieved weight.

It looks like he may have scribbled a bit on Mwetwo before he realized that his Pikachu had been relocated, but I shouldn't have any difficulty undoing it now that he's not actively trying to overwrite everything again. I really hope there's no hard feelings - this was supposed to be for fun, and I never had any intention of competing with or trampling on anyone else's hard work.
On another note, the Eevee is looking good - I'll be sure to send a few pixels that way periodically to help out. We still don't have a location for Jolteon's mini sprite yet, right?
