Ok, so, I posted in /pgg/ asking for advice on how much xp I will need to get to 40 from 29 (18million or so xp)

Since my friends phone updated to 7.1.1 recently, he cant spoof anymore, and now his leveling is much slower, and I think some days he doesn't even play.

Essentially I am trying to see if I can hit 40 before he does, since he is always talking about it. I am surprised he hasn't been banned yet.

If you truly need 18 mil, then it'd be about 120 more evo sprees.

It's 200 evo sprees because when I did the math at launch, it's almost 100k exp per evo spree INCLUDING the 229 Pidgeys you catch. So it's not 150k per spree, it's like almost 100k per spree.

So you'd need a couple dozen more than 120 sprees.

If he's barely playing every day then you'd have to really, really have to play hard. He's gotta gain 33% of the XP he's got right now, but you have almost 10x the experience you have right now to gain.
I can't give you a good number, but I used pokefarmer months ago and I hit level 40 with XP rates of over 10k per hour, not including bi-daily evo sprees and it took me a month to go from 35-40.

For every lucky egg session, I can pop maybe 70 evolutions.

70 evolutions => 840 candies => 227.5 Pokemon captures (since I need to keep 70 of them so not all are 4 candies each.)

So every lucky egg I use will get me:
(228 caps * 100 xp/cap) + 2 * (70 evos * 500 xp/evo)
= 92,800 exp per lucky egg

I'm lv 18, I need ~1.8 mil exp to hit lv 30, ~19.8 mil exp to hit lv 40.

1.8 mil xp / 92,800 xp/egg = 19.4 lucky eggs => 1 lucky egg pack => 1250 coins
19.8 mil xp / 92,800 xp/egg = 193.97 lucky eggs => 8 lucky egg packs => 10,000 coins

Might need less if more levels give me more eggs but whatever.

Also need 15 storage upgrades * 200 coins each = 3000 coins to hit cap.
My autism probably will make me get 13 backpack upgrades * 200 coins each = 2600 coins just to make them match.

I get 20 coins from gyms per day because I don't have a car and 2 gyms is the max I can hold before some other walker fag comes by and caps it. So I'm going to need:

(10,000 + 3,600 + 2,000) coins / 20 coins/day = 780 days of walking (26 months) to max out on current caps, 500 days if I skip out on upgrades but I'm going to run out of space just on the 70 Pidgeys if I don't so might as well. Need 2 months to get my first pack of lucky eggs. Little under a year (343 days) if I decide to stop at lv 30. If I pop 1 lucky egg a week, it'll actually take me 4 years so I guess I'm not in a rush since 228 mons/week is the time bottleneck, not the coins.

I only get maybe ~100 mons a day if I don't work overtime so 200-400 mons a week is the realistic estimate for me anyway so I guess it really doesn't matter if I get only 20 coins a day. I'll probably hit lv 30 in 7 months. I think I can be satisfied with my progress at 30 and probably quit then.

Heaven forbid Niantic increases the trainer level cap before I hit lv 40 if I commit to that.

So to update with new math:

I can do 75 Pidgeys per evo spree now since the speed update.

75 evos => 900 candies => 243.25 non-Pinap'd Pidgeys

Every Lucky Egg evo spree will be:
(244 captures * 100 xp/cap) + 2 * (75 evos * 500 xp/evo)
= 99,400 xp per Lucky egg.

Level 1 to 30: 2 mil xp / 99,400 xp/spree = 20.1 evo sprees
Level 1 to 40: 20 mil xp / 99,400 xp/spree = 201.21 evo sprees

And this is assuming you throw straight balls, no catch bonuses, no first throw bonuses, no curves, and no 20 CP Pinap'd Pidgeots / 14 CP Pinap'd Pidgeottos. With Pidgeots, the minimum you'd see would be like 75 Pidgey catches + 32 Pinap'd Pidgeots = 107 catches, making it 85,700 xp per Pidgey evo spree which makes the resulting evo spree count to be 23.3 sprees to lv 30, 233.37 sprees to lv 40.

All in all, you still need almost 4 years of evo sprees if you do 1 evo spree a week. At 30 Pidgeys a day, one a week sounds about right.

Now you have to ask yourself whether it's worth grinding this shit game for 4 years.
I ask myself why I can't quit every night when I sleep.

they will run after one pokeball and have a 4% chance to be caught using an ultraball

Seriously, transfer all the shit you don't want or need and just keep transferring. Wait until a double experience event. Who knows, maybe even a quadruple XP event will happen some day. Buddies giving candies 4x faster is proof enough that it's possible. Just save all your candies and do your evos on those dates. For really common pokemon in your area, make sure you constantly keep them transferred so you don't run out of bag space. Come a double XP event, you will have to farm a lot of those mons, but that will probably be easy for you if you live in a town with a lot of spawns.

I have a place I can do laps around without getting any attention. Only time this game it's fun is when playing in a new city while exploring it. Still the best thing I catch is usually a machop or something. Pathetic really.

The most efficient way I found when not using a scanner at least in this area when I do is doing laps around route and catch pokemon as if Im using a fishing net. When you play long enough you'll see patterns and know where the rare ones show up/all the spawns as they are constant within a 70m range but it's still painful to have to go through this.
