I would expand on the lost zone, expecially with cards that exile stuff from the discard pile.

Sadly most of it is beyond repair at this stage, mainly because the rule set was flawed from the beginning and they didn't think it would last as long as it did.

This is down to poor balancing for the most part and that they never really tested anything.

- Evolutions did not scale better than large Basics apart from Blastoise and Wigglytuff or had unreasonably expensive attacks.

- Being able to play limitless Trainer cards per turn allowed for not only being able to draw most of your deck on demand, but also long, boring turns where you're sitting there waiting to be able to do anything.

Looking back I'm surprised they didn't just ditch the evolution rule either partially or completely and didn't limit Trainer cards to a certain amount per turn, which leaves us where we are right now.

It's obvious TPCi has no idea how to balance the game at all, with a few things standing out.

- Giant Plant Forest was an awful idea that instantly forced them to gimp Grass types to not be too powerful, and as soon as they print one that's not awful, bang it's instantly a tier 1 deck because you're able to just immediately draw over half of your deck and set up everything before your opponent can even play any cards.

- Too many decks are just "use this one Pokemon and do the same attack repeatedly." Lapras GX, Sylveon GX, the list goes on. Strategies are incredibly linear especially when all pieces are in the same set. "You're meant to use Volcanion EX with the non-ex and some other Fire basics, maybe." "Okay here is M-Ray and Sky Field and Shaymin and Winona. We've spelt it all out for you."

- Basic GXes are far too pushed and strong. Darkrai GX does DDC 130, and Kommo-GX needs LFCC for the same thing. Guess which one is the Stage 2, and guess which one has a useful ability instead of an inconsequential attack. Also Tapu Lele being the most pushed card I have ever seen from any card game.

But let's get real, the game has improved a lot since the wizards era which is half of what you're referencing.

Metagross is just a shit card, the only real use for it right now is in a Genesect-EX deck. Solgaleo is better in 9 situations out of 10. In expanded, Bronzong is a way cheaper option to do the same thing for metal.

I guess you could look at psychic energy acceleration, but stage 2 support pokes are always kind of bad unless what they do is exceptionally good, and geotech system is just 'pretty good'.

If they add a Factory of Giant Metal card in the next set, it will be good with Solgaleo, until then the card's a bust (and either way is just inferior to bronzong in expanded).

The tcg for me is pretty much what the video games are: if you want to have a fun environment, you have to fine tune the game by yourself.

I started ptcgo last year, but gave up after some months because the meta is just as cancerous as it was in the WotC era. Most stages 2 are still irrelevant, drawing half your deck on one turn is still a thing and high attack cost have no payoff (some cards actually punish you for that).

S&M at first seemed to be trying to fix things, but then we get Lele and Darkrai (again).

TCPi actually seems to be somehow concerned with balancing issues (the alternate prints were a great idea), but if PCL releases broken cards, there is little they can do without making players mad.

Dragon types weren't a mistake, they replace metal and darkness as the 4-energy-per-deck special mons. DDE will either be reprinted forever (like dce and rainbow) or we a getting a decent replacement.

Making all of them weak to fairy was the real mistake.

The problem with trashman isn't how it forces you to build decks or play differently, it's how you're forced to build decks inefficiently compared to item-heavy decks, meaning if you run into a deck that spams things like elixirs, mails, etc., you're at an inherent disadvantage by being slower in a meta defined by speed.

1. earlygame shuffle support

N is only bad in this rigged client, where it picks a winner at the start and you have to fight against the RNG to win. You will never brick yourself off of a turn 1 N for 6 every game IRL like I do in TCGO. I just N'd for 4 energy (run 8), Super Rod and a Choice Band on turn 1 for autoloss to some shitter.

And now I'm in a game where all 8 said energy did not show up until half my deck was gone, and I have yet to see an ultra ball.

Ive mostly been using a mega alakazam with espeon gx, added the new garb and i honestly dont even use it much.

So I decided to buy a few packs after years of having not buying any. I didnt even know they made cards with textures and looks like these. I bought both the Tsareena and Lurantis blister and two Sun & Moon packs.

Anything good here, nowadays? Im more likely to just hold them in plastic cases and go for cheaper variants if I ever decide to use any.

Just in case someone asks anyone asks the TCG online cards were nothing noteworthy aside from Decidueye GX and Drampa GX.

Sun and Moon has a good Dratini->Dragonair. Check the out, the Dragonair has Dragon's Wish which is a game changing move if you use it properly (I have a few decks that are built around dragon's wish).

Guardians Rising has a good Goodra, you do 20x the amount of energy attached to her (cost is two colorless) to any of your opponent's mons, so you can snipe out threats. People have been going nuts about her but I haven't tried it yet.

I like Kingdra EX but it's not easy to implement, I wouldn't recommend it.

That's all I can vouch for at the moment.

What could I do to improve the consistency in this deck outside of paying for Shaymins? General concept is to Ultraball away basic energies to get the evo cards and then use Ray's first attack to attach them a lot more quickly to Lunala. I can take advantage of the Psychic Transfer to not actually lose energy when healing and the Altar of the Moon means I can freely switch between Ray and Lunala as needed to recover energy.

Kommo-o requires a much bigger deck investment for a 4 energy primary attack that is literally worse than a 3 energy attack on a one prize card from the same set (Goodra). Again, at least Wishiwashi has its massive HP going for it, I could see someone using it somewhere down the line.

Here's how I would fix the shit GX cards in this set

Wishiwashi
New ability: Can attach a benched wishiwashi as an energy card worth W once per turn. Wishiwashi attached in this way may be transferred to other pokes via the GX attack.

Kommo-o
Give Adamantine Press a GX protection effect instead of damage reduction, if a pokemon is KO'd by Fierce Uppercut they're removed from the game.

Toxapex
Replace Spike Cannon with Baleful Bunker - P, reduce all damage from attacks to Toxapex next turn by half, if a pokemon attacks Toxapex they become poisoned.

Replace Total Shelter GX with Spike Cannon GX, PPP, can choose any target on your opponent's field you like for 110 damage (allows you to chase down on at least 1 thing fleeing your super poison)

Ninetales
Change Blizzard Edge to WCC, reduce damage to 150

Metagross
Change Geotech system: Once during your active turn, you may attach a P AND M energy to your active pokemon.
