My strategies for the leadup to Evice were all for nothing. Turns out if you throw the Evice fight, save, and come back, you start AT Evice. Had a friend test out to see if the shadowmon was generated differently each time, and it was. So I've just cut 11 minutes off of my resetting, per reset.

Either way, this mean Metagross doesn't need a choice band to spam EQ, and can just pick whatever move for Evice's team. The best pokemon I can use to pair with it is, funnily enough, the shiny Skarmory. For some reason, it 1shots Salamence after a -1 attack. Plus, the sandstorm doesn't hit it.

I've done nothing but SR this thing while playing another game since i was done grinding. I even moved the Wii next to my bed on top of a little box. Really hope I can get it today, but i doubt it

No matter what you do you'll miss out on the shiny frames. Keeping the game on for long periods of time instead of saving and reloading every time just gives less chance of you hitting the same nonshiny frames

No. There is no RNG in emerald. If you save in front if it and keep encountering it instantly, and it isn't shiny the first few times, it will never be shiny if you keep doing that, ever. Your shiny frames are almost certainly not that early on, if you wanted to hunt it in Emerald, you would have to encounter it, run, go downstairs, and come back and encounter it, that way you wouldn't be getting the same encounters over and over.

Can somewhat confirm, got legit Shiny Groudon in Emerald. I was soft resetting for nature because I thought SRing worked in GBA, but then after I found the Groudon I did some homework and learned about frames and shit. Turns out my shiny frame was like 13 or some shit. Ludicrously low. Lax nature but I didn't give a fuck, I cloned it in Emerald a few times, migrated it up to my White and cloned it a bunch more times, fucked with the IVs and Nature. Kept the original in Emerald tho. It was a good day.

On a more positive note, my friend/girlfriend hatched her first shiny. A Komala after a couple weeks of trying. And Pélago is finally getting my old shinies to level 100 so I can Bottlecap them. 2 down, about 15 more to go.

First one i ever encountered, shiny Magneton in cerulean cave, shit fucked me up, didn't even know about shinies until i encountered it, didn't have enough ultra balls to catch it, so i just looked at it and shut off my game. I realized i had missed out on something big.
That's why i always carry at least 99 ultra balls on me since then, and never use my master in case of emergency shinies

I saw Junichi Masuda at a grocery store in Osaka yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Shiny Charms in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to have a complete Pokedex first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the charms and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any shiny infetterence,” and then turned around and flashed an Oval Charm at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each charm and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yelling "hahaha i dont really know" really loudly.

I've always had terrible luck with shinies though.

Finally got my shiny Purrloin at 1,104 eggs, combined with a few leftover I hatched 1,125 total (no extra shinies sadly)

Wondering if I should go for Shiny Smeargle in a Beast Ball or shiny Sneasel in Colosseum next.

At 12,334 rests on my Giratina hunt. I'd say I'm never doing a full odds SR hunt again but the only game I have that I can get shiny Groudon and Rayquaza in is Ruby (and Emerald, but you know how that is).

I remember years ago, not too long after the game came out, my big bro was playing through it normally, and some dude I think in Phenac sent out a green Makuhita.
Surely you know the system is fucked in those games so of course it didn't stay like that, and I was the only witness.
We then proceeded to tell my other bro and he shrugged it off like a 'that kid' story, because for one it didn't stay green, and for two Makuhita's actual shiny was red in the main games.
I forgot about it until the portraits were extracted from the game files and the smug chub is in fact green in the GCN games.

I forgot where I was going with this. Guess it was just a story. Not a particularly exciting one but hey.

Yeah, shinies in Colosseum are a completely different hunt than anything else. You have to do entire fights just to get to them, which makes even the fastest reset take 3+ minutes.

Unless you're going full autism and trying to get it in nature, and provided it isn't a legendary, Poke Pelago has now made shiny hunting pretty piss easy, tbqh. It's still time-consuming, sure, but I've been consistently getting 1 shiny of my choice with good IVs, nature, and moveset about once a month. And I'm not even spending all or even most of my time doing shiny hunts. Just 1 day of breeding per month, then egg hatching in Pelago for the rest.

And even if it is a legendary, dedicated soft-resetting doesn't take 6 months. Maybe 3 months, tops, and that's if you're spending only half an hour to an hour a day doing it.

What method seems more effective for shiny hunting in Sun and Moon, Masuda Swapping or Chaining? I've never actively hunted a shiny in SM so I wanna decide on whichever path is easier to start things off.

Chaining is definitely the fastest of the two imo. To be fair I really dislike masuda swapping since you have to stop in your tracks every so often, hatch everything, save and continue instead of the continuous flow you get with regular masuda.
Also, with the proper set (phantump with harverst- skillswap/bestow ) sos chaining gets pretty straightforward and brainless.
