I would go out every night around 11 at my college and scoop up gyms. Once I found a gym I was approaching was being battled already. Being Instinct and the gym Valor, I thought it was a 50/50 of the fella was on my side. So I approached the gym and found the guy who was working on it.

Anyway I understand how it is and am flexible if I actually am able to talk to them.

In general the only "rule" in my region is to not put blissey as the lowest defender in gyms since allies will have a harder time leveling up those gyms, and don't steal gyms from a guy who just leveled it/took it.

Ehh I let the hardcore Instincts claim all the gyms in my town (11) for many months now. The other towns close next to it are all Mystic (my team), so whenever Instincts get attacked in my town they rampage our gyms as revenge (even if it's Valor who mostly attacks them). I have 15-16 gyms in average and like to keep the peace, so I don't need to focus on fighting gyms anymore (it sucks as long as they don't fix the bugs).

However I've been saving max revives, max and hyper potions for a while now... Once the summer holidays return I'll go wreck them at last.

Shortly after launch when botting was at its worst there was a guy who wanted to do a charity stream of going from 1-40 in under 24 hours. He just had a good locale and dumped a shitton of money on Lucky Eggs and Incubators and Lures and Incenses.

He got banned live on stream and Hanke never took off the hard limit since. If you look at the current bots' source code all of them have limiters that stop after hitting a certain exp/hr speed or exp / 24 hours cap because of this. It's not because they're trying to look legit but because they're trying to avoid getting autobanned.

Really, the best strategy is to use blissey that are around 2600 since you can just mine them for free. They usually get stuck around placement 2-6 on the gym, which is actually better than maxing out in my opinion.


It prevents someone grinding down the gym but allows allies to grind up.

If you take a gym down from 50k to 40k, you want to plow through as many as possible. Blissey is number 3? You're grinding down 2k at a time. Fuck that. Someone may be stupid enough to waste time attacking the blissey too. Dropped to 30k now? Well shit, Blissey being 1st means you HAVE to beat it to even drop 1k. Not going to happen by solo by a human.


But if it's slot 3, allies can prestige the first two without a problem. If they are boosting 1k each time, it's unlikely half cp mons would make it to fight a third level anyway. So your walkfriends can still participate.

Golem is decent against Dragonite if you got it with rock attacks (and the dragonite doesn't have steel wing).
I got a couple of them at around 2400CP, one with double ground and other with double rock, I use them quite often for attack.

The Mareep was at another spawn point in my little street (there are many spawn points here for some reason). Since this is a water biome I usually catch many water mons like karps but Dratini and even occasionally Dragonair too. Last weekend there was a Chansey at yet another spawn point behind my home (unfortunately I was just a second too late to catch it).

I can't keep my eyes on these spawns for the next two weeks since I'll be leaving to Athens tomorrow. But once I'm back home I'll definitely check more often than I already did.

Best tactic is training up a gym near a main road, busfags will always jump into the free spots and the gym gets 2000 prestige each time
Pic related is a gym in the middle of a long stretch of road where no one really walks down, if I hadn't trained it up it would just stay at lvl 3 and eventually get taken down (it's currently lvl 10)
