Get a fucking city-wide scanner set up (costs like 30-100 US dollaroos, depending on the size of the covered area) by pooling money along with 10-15 friends then get together and go hunting, 1 person drives, the other 3-4 give him directions, there you go, you're gonna make friends (lots of ppl will join esp if you got a fb page and a telegram/discord chat to organize stuff), you're gonna have tons of fun (feels like a legit RL MMO), you're gonna get tons of rare mons and you might even land a qt pokegf (ppl just hang out after hunting/raiding, shoot the shit, have dinner/lunch together, etc.).

Personally, I wouldn't unless it's your only dragonite, then maybe. But lower CP will be better for taking gyms anyway so there's not much point to it in the end.

I personally believe that some point in the not crazy distant future they will have to put in a method to reroll movesets, so I've been saving high IV pokemon that roll bad sets in case. Thing is, we have no idea what the method will be, and it could involve something like chopping your mons level in half or some crazy bullshit like that, which would mean a massive waste of candies and dust if you powered it.
My advice: Don't power it, but save it for later and see what the future brings.

I slowed down since my friends stopped playing , we use to drive around at night attack gyms, collect poke-stops and throw down a Lure or two, after that head to to beach were a ton of people would gather at midnight just to hunt Pokemon. I think the problem of people leaving the game and generating less money for Niantic would not be because spoofers contribute too much money but because of the backlash Niantic would recieve for doing a worldwide ban of spoofers since it would inevitably include people who aren't spoofing or who would claim to not be. There's a Valor spoofer that's been taking down this formerly stable gym every day with their multiple accounts with Blisseys and Tyranitars like they own it so every morning, I take it down to put up the shiny that they clearly don't have, and then in the evening I sit down by the building with a coffee and keep posting the shiny every evening until they give up for the night.
