I donate 1 Euro/month for the scanner and catch like 10-15 snorlax/dragonite/Larvitar/etc. per week and I don't even play that much, I just catch the ones that pop in a 5 Km radius when I'm home.

Attack has as much weight as defense and stamina in CP calculation

I like the general idea of type themeing, and it also makes a lot of sense from a story perspective as that's how gyms have always worked in the real game

I think some variation on that theme is a great direction to take

there's a yellow spoofer near my house who runs at least 5 accounts, all variations of catmandog catdogman dogdogmancat etc and he just fucks up any gym that isn't yellow and makes it neutral then powers up yellow gyms way beyond their capacity and sometimes puts all his bots in there with weird pokemon

Yeah, whether it's bots you're playing or it's still semi-territory, getting coins by actually battling rather than owning a gym would solve a lot grief between spoofers and walkers.
The only problem is that it would make 98% of the roster pointless, seeing as Prestiging would no longer be a thing, and defenders would be useless. Just use 6 Vaporeons to attack some bots, it would be boring.

It's a shit solution, but I think it's along the right road. The two issues to challenge would be to make them actually fun rather than repeatedly tapping a screen, and to reduce tension regarding spoofers ruining the fun.

It happened to me too with some Mystic spoofer in my area before the yellow autist I mentioned appeared.
Thankfully at around New Years he fucked off and I never saw him again. I'm hoping he got banned because he was always around, you couldn't do anything to counter it.

As much as I'll happily take advantage of the two known yellow spoofers in my local area, I really feel bad for the legit Valor players who just can't stay in a gym for more than 30 minutes because of the spoofers. Before everyone else spoofed I often had mini-battles with another Valor player at my closest gym, but now I haven't seen him in forever because it's always lvl 10 Instinct since the spoofers arrived.

species clause on attackers. prevents boredom of 6 vape attack squads.

attackers cannot see the lineup of defending pokemon (the gym defenders just stand there looking menacing, holding pokeballs), except for the gym leader, whose pokemon is visible. this will encourage attackers to bring a well-balanced team. this will also make attacking more difficult so maybe offset this with a slight change in prestige loss for successful attacks.

give a benefit to the team who controls the gym, rather than simply a chance at coins for those with pokemon in the gym. not sure how to do this though. if they even introduce a way to change pokemon movesets, maybe require this to be done at a gym controlled by your team (a move-tutor situation rather than TMs).

they've been having lazy events recently in which pokemon of certain types/themes spawn with greater frequency. i relatively low-effort thing they could do is to have routine type weeks (or maybe two-week periods) that are always running. like, next week is a thunderstorm--water and electric-type pokemon spawn more frequently and water or electric pokemon in gyms have their cp temporarily boosted. or maybe its a brushfire and fire/grass pokemon spawn more often. if doesn't even have to be a combination of two--there could be rock weeks, poison weeks, fighting weeks, etc. (although steel, dark and dragon weeks would be though to do, on their own).
