It is. I just usually go for 30 because the jump from 30 to 40 only powers up a pokemon about 9 percent total, but costs a ridiculous amount of dust to get there. It's important when you're trying to stay on top of a gym to get as much CP as possible, but for taking down gyms and battling as it is right now that 9% won't make much of a difference as an attacker.

Good day today. Took a gym from Valor and fortified it to Level 10, made it into Level 25, and finally got a King's Rock.

Next on the "to do" list is get enough Slowpoke candy and evolve my buddy, but that shouldn't take more than a week with my walk to and from work.

Pretty sure they log GPS coordinates. They just turned off fetching said coordinates and drawing a map thumbnail every time you look at a Pokemon's info.

Notice how the game seems to freeze for a sec every time you scroll down to see the moveset? That's the game fetching the location from the servers. You can't get that information without looking up the GPS coordinates. All the spawns are programmed into GPS coordinates. The game checks your GPS coordinates before initiating any encounter or spin or whatever. I'd be surprised if they discard the GPS coordinates after using them for all the checks and then overwrite them with some stupid-ass string of township name + state name + country name or any combination of those fields into the database when it's just extra space per entry.

Probably the same for dates. Otherwise all the Pokemon you catch would be scrambled in order when you look at Recent catches. Just because they don't show it doesn't mean it's not there.

You make that sound like an excuse when it's even more reason you shouldn't be behind. You should be catching shit left and right so that your collection is perfectly polished. I started out gym battling at lv 15 with Wing Attack Golbats against the lv 30+ vape squads. It was tedious as hell but I fucking got them. Now I'm maxed out on upgrades (thank god, since I'm already at 800 / 1000) and have enough Lucky Eggs to last me until summer. You don't need some MLG dragonite squad to sit in gyms and collect coins. Make do with what you have, figure out how to optimise what you have access to and power them up properly.

You need coins and dust to fuel your collecting, so go fucking get some.
You started late, so it's going to take a while, but even if all you're going to do is piss them away into incubators, you still need to spend some time on your battlers. You don't have to have a lot but ideally, you'd want 10-ish high CP defenders, a squad of attackers for enemy gyms, and a large variety of low to mid CP prestigers like my Seadra. I started with 7 1000CP Wing Attack Golbats. Now I have my own vape squads and dragon killers. It's a grindy game, it's tedious as fuck, yes, but it's very, very doable. So don't give up before even trying.

I don't think you understand. I live in Porto. ALL GYMS ARE MYSTIC LVL 10 >3000 cp all pokemon. It's the insane soccer fan mentality, an incredibly overwhelming percentage of people here chose the blue team because of the city team's colors (FC Porto).

I chose Instinct because Zapdos is my favourite. cheating spoofers and mystic brigades make it impossible to get gyms or hold them. Even worse when you have no one providing cover and you just want to collect and casually battle.

Why does that matter? Here Instinct were dominant for about 2 weeks after gen 2, now they've all fucked off again and the Valor players started taking our blue gyms.

Then more mystic players saw that the gyms weren't constantly yellow anymore and started actually caring again, now Instinct can't hold a gym to save their lives because Valor will just chop them down along with ours.

Every city/town has a different experience with gyms, you being mystic means fuck all to me.

If people are tired of getting their asses kicked maybe they should get organised and get good.
