That card got posted in the last TCG thread, but I was basically the only person interested. It doesn't look like it will be too good competitively, but I really like the artwork. I think it's interesting how it makes Glalie look more like a clear chunk of ice, unlike the opaque look he usually has.

I'm a big fan of Glalie though. I don't actually play irl (just TCGO), but I recently bought pic related anyway; because it's such an amazing looking card. Nobody mention the regular-art version - it doesn't exist. Might end up getting this new Glalie too.

Drifblim/Glalie are my 2 favourite Pokemon, so I'm really hoping for some nice Drifblim artwork in future. If anyone wants to post any Drifblim stuff they like, I would appreciate it.

I just opened the parcel containing my FA Glalie-EX. I was desperate to open it as it actually arrived yesterday, but I had coursework to do and decided to leave it till today. The physical card looks absolutely fantastic! I held it up to the sunlight which is beaming in through the window to get the full effect. The varying textures make it really interesting to look at and the golden borders make it look kinda flashy.

Are Pokemon cards the same size they have always been? The card was smaller than I expected, but I'm not sure if this is just because it's the first card I've bought since I was a kid.

And I still have never pulled a fullart card. Rarest ones (with a pretty background) are a Crystal Kingdra (Aquapolis version of what are now shiny pokemon and fullart cards) and a Crystal Barrier that came in a pack I got as a gift. Best art is still Omanyte though

Sorry if this sounds like I'm being autistic about this, but one instance of fucked up art isn't the rule. It give me flashbacks to the Butterfree/Venomoth threads where people literally pulled up Japanese newspapers and book orders to prove that the video game came first before any of the manga or anime.

This shit is the reason why I hate any discussion of "original intent" when it comes to old video games. Charizard had one horn for most of 1996/1997 except for in the games.

Big fucking deal.

It didn't seem like any Pokemon had a real "consistent" design until the anime forced them to decide on stuff anyway. Koffing's skull placement was different, Pikachu use to look more like a baby Raichu, Gastly seemed to be literally mist with eyes and not a black ball surrounded by purple energy, even Ditto didn't seem to have an actual consistent shape for a while. And that was between R&G and Blue, which was suppose to be a promotional v1.5 update to the first game's graphics.

It's from BW Plasma Freeze. Running theme in 90% of the cards is that their environment is freezing over.

It's a shame that other full-size sets don't have consistent themes like this one.

Mini-sets like XY Double Crisis and the two Radiant Collections are pretty nice, though. They even went the extra mile and gave these sets special pokedex text.

They are. They were made as basically promo cards in magazines to promote the game's release.

Honestly, "One Horn Charizard" is as silly as an argument as "What direction is Metapod suppose to be sitting in?"

Yeah, I don't think people realize earlier pokemon often were changed or edited in certain media. What's interesting is the spiry changes for the Japanese GS release and the internation GS release.

I think people are honestly of the opinion that there's this master list of Pokemon that was created as we know them today from the early 90s that they've just been slowly releasing over time, so their "original design" is some immutable canon.
