the run was going horrible. only had four pokemon and three were rock types. all underleveled, bad movesets and zero fucking luck, every mon had the worst nature possible and i don't think i hit a single critical hit the entire run

Because I just made it there and my strategy is to poke my head into any available spots, grab a mon, and get the fuck out to train to acceptable levels. First encounter in Tower was Koffing, so now I'm worried about possible SDs galore.

As for Morty, educated guess based on interior design, gym sign, and building color. Assuming Psychic but could be Ghost or both.

XY and SuMo place relatively high in my opinion. Without XP share XY has some early game trainers with pretty tough Pokemon centered around Reflection Cave, as well as Lysandre's ability to end runs when you have to fight him three times in a row.

SuMo without XP Share was one of the "hardest" runs I've done. It was difficult in that pokemon will die all the time due to the totem mechanics (2 Pokemon vs 1 in a nuzlocke isn't fun), but you'll have plenty of captures due to how many areas there are, so unless you wipe, you can keep moving forward pretty easily.

Lysandre is easy apart from Mega Gyarados. There's not a lot that can reliably take hits from that, and you're unlikely to OHKO it either. It's an argument for picking Chespin honestly.

SM is really team dependent. I didn't have much of an issue with Totem Lurantis thanks to Z-Fire Pledge Torracat, but if you're banning Z-moves or didn't have a strong SE, I can see someone being in for a world of pain.

Streaming Emerald in about 20 minutes if enough people are interested.

This run has been almost entirely smooth sailing, so either I'm really lucky, 1st gen is really easy, or I'm about to get dunked.

They used to be even more autistic but then i updated less often because it was kind of a slog updating items and whatnots every single badge. The one i use now i feel its a good compromise. I just really like putting as much information as i can because is fun going back to my old charts and seeing the progress (and the failures) of this project

But now i remember where the pokeball count went wrong when an anon pointed out in another thread. Back when i still did the "you fail in a game you go back to red" rule, i also had the "you can buy things one time and that's it" rule. That's probably from where the extra pokeballs came from.

every time i progressed in ruby and sapphire i used mudkip or treecko instead, all torchic runs had embarassing endings to brawly or wattson or a random ninjask trainer on the way to fortree. Coincidence? I think not! it probably is but i'm blaming torchic and there's nothing you can do about it

Update: Sandslash ruinously swept Morty with Shadow Claw spam and crit Gengar to death. Still no losses. Still feeling like the best there ever was. And based on my poking around future towns it seems like I'm going to have a major type advantage over the next two gyms with Arcanine and Quilava.

A rocket Locke is where u start the game with ratata koffing or Ekans and put the catch other trainers cheat on and that's how you accrue your team. You can use any stolen pokemon or limit urself to rocket themed pokemon. A six Locke is a suicide run. Pick 6 pokemon to start with, those are your only 6 for the run

Welp, got a Panpour, named it Kofi Kingston.

Also had the WORST fucking luck in first gym on top of woefully underestimating gym level.
His lilipup had two workups and then Picked up an Oran berry in battle and ate it. THREE FUCKING TIMES.
Then Pansear crit Kofi and he survived with 1 HP

No losses so far, but three of them left with HP below 3. So I guess I got lucky.

No real updates aside from catching a shuppet, but I decided to make a new template. I was just using one I randomly found, but it was really annoying to update it because of all the separate little boxes. Also I like giving a little more info about my team.

I'm using GIMP and it's way too hard to outline my text in white, otherwise I'd outline the names so they stand out against the images, but otherwise I think it looks pretty good. A bit too lazy atm to give all the boxed mons their names. Dead mons deserve their names though out of respect. RIP boys.

HG randomizer from last night went badly, lost to a Salamence with charge beam in Sprout Tower.

Trying again with randomizer BlazeBlack 1 , which should have a better level curve. I may try randomizing stats or even evos on the next try if this ends up being boring and/or too hard

Got a team together, and grinded for a while. My next goal is to defeat everything in sprout tower. Also, my ledyba got it's unfortunate name when my emulator decided to go black screen when i tabbed to something else and I was in the middle of naming it, so I had to use audio queues to save my game and restart the emulator.

After sitting around feeling sad, I checked the save state, which is a bit further along. I'm in Nimbasa and have all my captures except Solosis and Shuppet, but still haven't beat Elesa. Chestnut was also still alive... feels a bit weird to use him, but I'm pretty sure I still had him when I cleared out the rollercoaster, but he died during grinding before the actual gym. I might just keep him in the party until I get back to where I was. Hopefully I can get Jelly again... I'm probs gonna soft reset until I can get another Magic Guard Solosis on the bridge. No, that wingull is legal.
Specific rule is that if it has a different name, even if it's a subsection of a currently existing area, it's legally a different area. SuMo is brutal to nuzlocke but thankfully has a shitload of those subsections so you have plenty of opportunities to get mons.

You set the rules yourself. I personally say every time the game gives me a different header for a location, that's a new area. Plus the routes in Gen 7 are pretty short and tiny, so you'll be strapped for mons way more than you should.

So I spent about 30min running around on the bridge trying to get a Solosis. I got a fuckton of wings and ran into 2 Gallade, 2 Pidgeotto, 1 Seel, 2 Pineco, and 1 Cottonee. I restarted and decided I'm going to just take what I can get, since I'm obviously never seeing Solosis ever again... Got an Eggecute. Well I guess that's fine (Gallade would've been awesome tho).

Caught Lapras on the route where I got Shuppet last time. Lapras almost fucking swept me though... it paralyzed all my mons with body slam and confused them all with water pulse and even landed some crits. Fucking Haxpras.

On the way out (literally three grass squares!!!) after Lapras almost decimated my team, I run into a Hitmontop and for some stupid reason I left Unagi up front with 9hp and paralyzed. Just to make sure I'd be able to run away, I try to switch to one of my non-paralyzed mons but he fucking kills Unagi with pursuit. Those predictions. RIP lil guy. You were a pain in the ass to keep alive and you never got to evolve into the beast you should've been. The good die young...

This wouldn't have happened if my save hadn't gotten fucked up :(

Also, I got Pineapple as an 'event' mon, since I happened to get to route 4 on a Monday, so the Braviary event sprite was there. I decided it was fine if I counted it as an event mon.

Here's my team during my own Platinum Nuzlocke after Gardenia's gym. Monferno steamrolled it. A perfect blend.

No major deaths, but a couple close calls.

I trained everyone on my previous main roster to 11, then I captured Venus the bellsprout in sprout tower... whom I can trade for a Staryu, very tempting. I also captured G Nigga, the unown in the ruins of alph.

I have high hopes for G Nigga. It's hidden power was super effective against Ava and Sanguina, Luckily I caught on switched to Darwin to tank it and capture it. This should mean Falkner will go down easily, but I never got to sprout tower today. Sprout tower will be tomorrow and it will burn like UC Berkeley, then I can take down Falkner.

A Hyper Fang miss and an untimely crit resulted in my first death during an Elite Four run ever. Because I hate having my final update not have a full team, I trained up a replacement and caught Mewtwo as the final checkpoint. But in short, Blue Nuzlocke complete.

Kingler is only good if you can get the Krabby from the pokewalker because early game crabhammer wrecks everything. It's bad compared to nearly every other water Pokemon, and by the time it gets crabhammer normally, the other water pokemon will usually have something better.

It was a tough battle, G NIgga pulled through and took care of Natu, but Falkner swapped to a level 15 Pidgeotto and I had to swap him out. Every member did their part. Darwin tail whipped, Ava sand attacked twice, Ignius smoke screened but unfortunately fell to a crit. Sanguina supersoniced and Mackenzie finished it off with confusion. So far this is the best Nuzlocke I've ever done. That could be due to the fact that I'm trying my damnest to overlevel and not fast forward through everything haphazardly. No deaths, and I'm on my way to Hearthome.

Missed out on getting a Buneary which sucks...but I did get a Gligar which is choice as fuck.

I wasn't sure who to replace her with, but I guess I'll pick up Milanese. I don't like having too many mons with a weakness to fighting and then the rest of my options all have overlapping types with my party, which I'd like to avoid. I also need someone who could tank special attacks... everyone is physically defensive :/

Picked up Cabbage as the gift mon from the Deerling researchers. It's nice, but would've been cooler if it had been a mon that actually had a hidden ability lol. If Sprite dies, I'm definitely picking her up.

I also realized that I can't buy a leaf stone until super late (post-game?), and I randomized the items so I might never find one either. Might end up ditching Omelette if I can find something better.

My encounter in Chargestone Cave was a Fraxure, but Salt crit and one-shot it. NBD, I probably was never gonna use it anyway since I have better dragons.

Well, why not? It's a randomizer. I don't use them in my regular play-throughs and the point of a Nuzlocke is to use mons you don't normally use. Having them in the wild makes it faster to grind and also more dangerous. On the off-chance I get lucky and have one as my first encounter, they're super hard to catch. I'm pretty sure I only got them because I had t-wave and false swipe (RIP Unagi and Chestnut), otherwise I'd probably have ended up wasting all my pokeballs and maybe even lost a team member, who knows. Plus there are regular trainers who have them as well, I lost Gumball to some youngster's Arceus, so it's not like I'm overpowered as shit. They also take a long time to level, so I usually leave them a bit under-leveled because I can't be assed to spend forever grinding.

They add a different dimension to the game and it's fun to be able to play through with them a bit, since normally you don't get them until like end-game or something.
