I've seen mimikyu/toxapex/salamence listed as the easiest team to beat super singles with, has anyone had any experience with this? Are there any particular builds to use, and which is best to lead with?
>>
since levels are lowered to 50 for these battles, should i bother training my pokemon above that?
>>
Using this team in super doubles at the moment

Greninja @ Lum Berry
EV's: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe / 6 HP
Nature: Naive
Ability: Protean
-Grass Knot
-Mat Block
-Scald
-Ice Beam

Snorlax @ Normalium Z / Leftovers
EV's: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 Sp. Def
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Thick Fat
-Stockpile
-Rest
-Belly Drum
-Body Slam

Serperior (Shiny) @ Wide Lens / Metronome
EV's: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe / 6 Def
Nature: Timid
Ability: Contrary
-Giga Drain
-Hidden Power (Fire)
-Dragon Pulse
-Leaf Storm

Charizard @ Charizardite X
EV's: 252 Atk / 248 Spe / 10 HP
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Blaze / Tough Claws
-Flare Blitz
-Dragon Dance
-Roost
-Dragon Claw

I haven't seen any anons try Snorlax yet, so i wanted to try it. So far I'm at battle 23 and its yet to even hit the red zone in health.
Protean Greninja is there for obvious reasons.
That Serperior is an injected mon I got via wondertrade and I've always wanted to use one in competitive, so i thought why not.
I've also never used Charizard X competitively before either (Y fag here) so wanted to give it a go. So far It's held its own numerous times.
Almost as good as Megamence. Almost...

>>
>>31621915

I've always gotten lucky with Air Slash and Headbutt being able to chain 3-4 flinches and both also have 30% flinch chance
>>
>>31621955
Just for Battle Tree I like to bring Ash-Greninja with King's Rock.
Sometimes I get really lucky with stunlocking out of Water Shuriken.
>>
>>31621779

>>

>>
>>31621490
Mimikyu w/ Life Orb
Disguise
Jolly
4 hp, 252 atk, 252 speed
>Play Rough
>Shadow Claw
>Shadow Sneak
>Swords Dance

Salamence w/ Salamencite
Intimidate
Adamant
4 hp, 252 atk, 252 speed
>Earthquake
>Dragon Claw
>Double Edge
>Dragon Dance

Toxapex w/ Black Sludge
Regenerator
Bold
252 hp, 180 def, 76 special def
>Scald
>Recover
>Toxic
>Haze

mmq leads, set up with a swords dance and spams shadow claw. play rough is only there if shadow claw can't cut it. shadow sneak is good for finishing. it can easily sweep.

sally is your cleaner/secondary sweeper if mmq dies. first turn is double edge if it will kill, dragon dance if not.

pex is your fallback for waiting out the match if the above two aren't cutting it offensively, or if you've gotten debuffed out the ass. lead with toxic, then haze if need be, then scald/recover as needed. if it's not too risky, consider swapping a lot to take care of regenerator.

if you're expecting ground moves, switch to salamance.

finally, beware of mold breaker.
>>
So I formerly got to 50+ in SS using a Dragonite, Megagross, Tapu Koko team (I'll post if anyone's interested) but I just hit 50 with another one, I'll post the details here.
A couple of introductory remarks, Aegislash is too damn good in the battle tree. Seriously, I think this mon is worth building a team around 100% of the time. Also this is going to be a team of some pretty imba pokemon anyway, so enjoy.

Lead
Kangaskhan (F) @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Return

Fake out any pokemon that doesn't protect/resist flinch for some free damage. Don't mega evolve if it's a ghost type. Some people prefer sucker punch over crunch, it's really just up to you.

Aegislash @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 85 HP / 252 Atk / 85 Def / 85 SpD
Quiet Nature
- King's Shield
- Shadow Ball
- Flash Cannon
- Shadow Sneak

Like I said, this fucker is insanely good. I actually copied this set from a guy who posted his team a while ago with Mega mence and PZ i think.

Lastly
Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- Facade
- Stone Edge

I wasn't super sure about the set but as I played with it I'm satisfied. Great revenge killer and hits hard. I mostly put the brick break and facade up for coverage, if anyone has suggestions feel free.

The only thing that gave me problems consistently in the tree was that bulky umbreon you get in the first ~25 rounds. Curse moonlight payback confuse ray I think it is. If you can manage to get Aegislash in there at some point, it shouldn't be a problem though. I was kind of worried about a lead wishiwashi at round 49 but I ended up critting it with mega kang return, so I'm not sure how much it would've done. Anyway, there you have it. Feel free to r8 h8 appreci8, criticism is welcome as always.
>>
Been using a rain team for super doubles and am 35 battles in so far.

Magnezone @ Air Ballon (Lead 1)
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 128 Def / 252 Sp Atk / 128 Sp Def
Modest Nature
- Thunder
- Thunder Wave
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch

Not sure about the EV spread yet. Air Ballon takes care of earthquake so both the opponent can't hit it and that I can use it with Mega Salamence. Thunder Wave to slow down fast threats. Thunder has 100% accuracy in rain. Flash Cannon as a strong STAB move, mainly for fairies. Volt Switch so I can do some U-turn playing with Pelipper. Rain lessen the damage of SE fire moves, Sturdy hinders it to get OHKO by fast fighting types that I can cripple with thunder wave.

Pelipper @ Damp Rock (Lead 2)
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 Hp / 252 Def / 4 Sp Def
Bold Nature
- Hurricane
- Hydro Pump
- Roost
- U-turn

Not sure about the EV spread on this one either. Hurricane is 100% accurate in rain. Hydro Pumo get a huge boost in rain. Roost to keep it alive. U-turn to easily switch out and back in again in case of hail/sandstorm/sun teams.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs 4 Def / 252 Sp Atk / 252 Spe
Naive nature
- Water Shuriken
- Hydro Pump
- U-turn
- Dark pulse

Standard set. Hits hard and fast.

Salamence @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Sp Atk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Draco Meteor

Special set instead of the usual Physical set. Hyper Voice gets Aerilate boost, hits both opponents and ignore Subs. Fire Blast for steel types like Scizor (rain makes it hit a lot less hard though). Earthquake as coverage that can be used with Pelipper or Air Ballon Magnezone. Draco Meteor for a strong STAB move.

Please put your input on what I could do better.

I did it with my kalosian mega venusaur.

Venusaur
Venusaurite, bold, 252 hp, whatever made def and sp def even
Sludge bomb
Giga drain
Synthesis
Leech seed

Zapdos
Life orb, timid, max sp att and speed
Thunderbolt
Heat wave
Hp grass
Roost

Sharpedo
Focus sash, max att and speed
Crunch
Waterfall
Destiny bond
Protect

It's pretty self explanatory.

Who are good trainers to scout for in Super Singles?

Find some really strong pokemon you think you can work well with.
Maybe with legendaries or mega stones.
or legendaries with mega stones.
>>
How do you get more multi battle partners?
>>
>>31631197
Whenever you beat someone in singles or doubles, you can pay 10 BP to scout them and then you can have them be your partner, using whatever their first two pokemon were with you.
Doesn't work on Red and Blue.
>>
>>31631339
How does that work? All I ever see are options to continue, take a break, and save record.

Machamp @ Assault Vest
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def

After 50 wins you should always treat every Pokemon like it has every possible set on turn 1 until you can confirm which set it has, especially if a possible scarf set has something that can outspeed and OHKO Tapu Koko like that Heatran. Always hit it with Fake Out and scout its speed.

Mimikyu and Megamence as sweepers, your ribbonmon as some kind of support

This is my first time breeding for battle tree, do you guys think that this team will cut it?

Infernape @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Thunder Punch

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Toxic
- Protect
>>
>>31639616
dont use ferrothorn and put a fire move on infernape
>>
>153 victories in doubles

I think I broke the game cause this is fucking easy.
>>
>there are people who needed bank mons, tapus, ultra beasts, and megamence to reach a 50 streak
LOL
>>
>>31639616
I've been never used infernape competitively but I'm not used to seeing it choice banded. I'm guessing there's a reason that people usually scarf or sash it. You also need a fire STAB
I like poison jab a little better than iron head on garchomp since all steel hits besides fairy is rock which EQ typically covers. Poison will get your grass types that resist EQ. No flinch hax though.
Ferrothorn would be better served replacing with toxapex. If you want to stall then you need recovery which toxapex gives you in more than one way. Plus anything with a 4X weakness is way more of a liability in the tree than normal competitive.
>>
>>31641119

So how did you get your streak, anon? Share your secrets.
>>
>>31641119
I needed bank mons for multis. I couldn't get good partners to save my life so I needed more variety in Pokemon I could pair with them.
>>
How do fellow Anons think about this one? Its just a theory but im currently building this team and will try it out soon.

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet (Lead)
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Jolly
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Swords Dance

Garchomp is just here to put out Stealth Rocks so Blaziken cant get fucked over with Focus Sashes'n'shit.

Blaziken @ Flynium Z
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant
- Mirror Move
- Flare Blitz
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off

Swords Dance+ a more or less resisted attack. It should kill the enemy in most cases. If the enemy is still bulky enough then i think he would not deal much DMG back.... But thats theory...
Maybe i should switch Fire/Fighting to attacks which are more reliable? Help me....

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Thunder Punch
- Bullet Punch

Metagross is my backup. Except the enemy kills my Garchomp with a Fairy Type Pokemon.
>>
>>31642463
>Using a Mega whose only STABs are guaranteed to miss
>Using Megagross when you could be using Mega Gyarados, Mega Luke, Mega Pinsir or Mega Mence. Hell, Mega Sharpedo might even be better.
>Using High Jump Miss

Enjoy your 17 win streak
>>
>>31642489
What about switching Megagross for Mega Scizor then?

Or better question.... Do i even need smth against fairies?
>>

Can Pokémon belonging to scouted trainers change abilities? I scouted a fag with a Fightium-Z Arcanine with Intimidate, but when I decided to pair up with him the little shit had Flash Fire and that costed me the streak because of a fucking Mamoswine outspeeding (A Rotom Fridge had used Paralyze), surviving an Energy Ball with an invisible Focus Sash and 2HKOing everything with Earthquake; Arcanine had also used Flare Blitz on some neutral shit instead of Rotom Fridge which led to everything getting Paralyzed, why are the partner AIs so fucking stupid?
Anyway, enough whining, my main concern is Arcanine not having Intimidate, will it keep Flash Fire or will the abilities vary from time to time?

So is there a difference in sets after certain rounds? Do trainers start using like, Gyarados-3 or Gyarados-4 after a certain round?
>>
>>31645977
Don't take my observations as fact, but you usally runt into Pok3mon-1 and Pokemon-2 sets for the first 20 battles, After 20 you start seeing trainers with megas popping up, which are usually Pokemon-3 sets, Legendaries start showing up after 40 battles.

Toxapex, Blissey, Poison heal Gliscor is literally unbeatable, but it's aids as hell.

The only Pokemon in the game that will trouble you is Mamoswine but you can get around that by switching between Pex and Gliscor.

It's cheap and stall as fuck but it's the tree so who gives a shit.

So, I've been thinking of using this team for Double Battles, what do you think:

1) Volcarona w/ Charti Berry
>Fiery Dance
>Bug Buzz
>Quiver Dance
>Protect / Hurricane / Psychic

2) Oricorio Pom-Pom w/ Focus Sash
>Revelation Dance
>Air Slash
>Protect
>Baton Pass

3) Hydreigon w/ Assault Vest
>Dragon Pulse
>Dark Pulse
>Surf
>Flash Cannon

4) Metagross w/ Metagrossite
>Meteor Mash
>Zen Headbutt
>Bullet Punch
>Earthquake

Basic idea is to buff Oricorio and Volcarona up with Quiver Dances and deal heavy damage with Dancer'd Fiery Dance and Revelation Dance. If I run into something Oricorio can't hurt, I Baton Pass the buffs on to Hydreigon who should be able to sweep damn near everything if buffed correctly.
Metagross is mainly there to deal with SpD tanks and priority-fuck stuff.

Seems viable?

Dark type pokemon are now 100% immune to status moves that are given priority due to Prankster. It's new for GenVII

Mega Glalie's ability is Refrigerate, which turns normal type moves into Ice, but I don't know how a Mega Glalie would be using a Z move. That one is a mystery. How'd it go down?

>>
>>31657342

Higher damage output. Of course Scald is viable but I rather go for the KO then hope for burns since I'm using Primarina largely against special attackers anyways. Plus I like the animation.

>>31657379

then why not surf? if they happen to be burned, surf won't stop that
>>
>>31657444

With my team only one pokemon, Hydreigon with Flamethrower for coverage, can even cause a burn and that's a 10% chance. In 82 matches so far Sparkling Aria's effect only matter for one battle. I had my Primarina going up against a Throh running Flame Orb/Guts. Even with Moonblast it would be a 2HKO so I used Sparkling Aria instead which healed the burn so it lost the Guts boost so it's Earthquake did less damage. Not saying Sparkling Aria > Surf because in a more standard 6v6 singles format Surf would be better but for my team the burn heal is not a factor.

I think I've finally found a nearly flawless team that accounts for almost any situation

Kartana @ Focus Sash
Jolly Nature, max Speed and Attack

-Leaf Blade
-Smart Strike
-Sacred Sword
-Psycho Cut

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Adamant, max Speed and Attack

-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide
-Iron Head

Tapu Lele @ Fairium Z
Timid, max Speed and Attack

-Psychic
-Moonblast
-Shadow Ball
-HP Fire

Kartana alone is often enough to 3-0 a team. If it manages to OHKO/2HKO the first pokemon, the Attack boost is often enough to OHKO any other pokemon. It also outspeeds many pokemon. While not perfect, it can deal with a vast majority of pokemon on its own. Focus Sash also avoids Fissure shenanigans, just as Smart Strike avoids Evasion shenanigans.

Now Kartana only has two weaknessess, fighting and fire, which means it can also be a bait for those few scarfed pokemon that outspeeds it. If you manage to predict a Fighting move, you just switch to Tapu Lele. If you predict a Fire move, you just switch to Garchomp

Even if adamant Garchomp outspeeds everything in the Tree, bar Cynthia's Scarf Jolly Garchomp who'll be locked into Fire Fang anyway thanks to Kartana, so who cares. Rock Slide is for Talonflame and Volcarona, Iron Head is a last resort against Fairies and Ice types in the very worst case scenario

Tapu Lele guarantees an OHKO thanks to either boosted Psychic or Twinkle Tackle. Shadow Ball for Ghost, and HP Fire as last resort for steel types

Pelipper @Damp Rock
Modest
Drizzle
252 HP, 252 SpA, 4 Spe
-Hydro Pump
-Hurricane
-Protect
-Roost/Tailwind/Mist (which one is better?)

Tapu Koko @Terrain Extender (is it good? should I pick something else?)
Timid
Electric Surge
252 Spa, 252 Spe, 4 HP
-Thunder
-Volt Switch
-Dazzling Gleam
-Nature's Maddness

Salamente @Salamencite
Jolly
Intimidate
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP
-Dragon Claw
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Double-Edge
Should I go for a Special set with Hyper voice? Maybe a mixed one with Fire Blast to take care of ice types?

aaaand I have yet to choose a 4th member. Maybe Garchomp? Mudsdale?
Any critiscism is welcome
>>
>>31664678
Ditch Damp Rock and Terrain Extender. You'll never get past 5 turns with the leading pokemon, either because they were killed, because you've won the battle, or because you've switched them out. Give Pelliper Leftovers and Koko Life Orb.

Change either Volt Switch or Thunder with Discharge. Obviously make sure that Pelliper has used Protect when you use it. Change Nature's Madness with HP Ground, Electric pokemon could be an issue. The fourth move slot for Pelipper could be either Roost or U-Turn. Tailwind might be useful but honestly both Tapu and Salamence are pretty fast, doesn't seem that necessary. Mist is a really dumb move. Finally consider Scald over Hydro Pump, missing even once can cost you the whole battle

Salamence is okay, pretty standard. If you fear Ice types you can use Fire Blast over DDance but it's generally fine as it is.

As for the fourth pokemon I'm not sure, the best way would try out the team a few times, see what pokemon counter it, and add someone that can adapt accordingly. I'm thinking Scizor or Kartana might be good, especially if they manage to stay in the rain, but it's hard to say

Not that guy but 252 HP is investment for a lot of AV users. Primarina only runs 252 HP with an AV, it's all about bulky attacking.

>>31655472

I can say as a battler who leads with Primarina 100% of the time, I see a lot of Ice types that are easy NOw. But I'll also see the most annoying pokemon for my team down to the item like a physically bulky Rocky Helmet Grass Type with Synthesis and Play Rough coverage (looking at you Tsareena). It's physical so Primarina can't bulk its Grass moves, Kommo-o can't KO, takes Rocky Helmet damage and gets fucked by Play Rough, and Megagross loses its health with every physical contact attack used while Tsareena heals off all the damage just like the barbecue sauce bitch she is.

-Extremespeed

It's a fun set. Lead with Rotom, outspeed almost everything and volt switch out to whoever, trick is really funny as sometimes it just completely fucks one of their mons that would otherwise stonewall you
Chansey tends to get rid of whoever might be a problem for dragonite, also scouts really well as without item fuckery very few things i've encountered can OHKO it outside of a very strong physical fighting attack

Dragonites use should be pretty obvious, great at cleaning up with extremespeed/outrage

Fairies have almost fucked me more than a couple times though while being locked into outrage, I'm thinking of dumping outrage for something else (fly+flynium z?)
Weakness Policy was fun at one point, but even with Multiscale taking an ice-type attack to the face is not fun. If you happen to get critted, you can still just die even at full hp (lots of 'mons run around to break multiscale with fake-out, too)

I wish I knew how the game randomizes pokes the other NPCs use, it really feels like the game tries to make a team to hard-counter Dragonite sometimes and Chansey just stalls almost all of the pokes out with Toxic

Toxapex, Gliscor, Blissey is unbeatable.

I repeat, UNBEATABLE.

I'm at 70 wins so far and nothing has even remotely troubled me apart from a Mamoswine which I got around by switching between Gliscor and Toxapex until it ran out of Earthquake PP.

Gliscor, Toxapex is just a great combination in general because they cover their weaknesses besides special psychics which is what I have Blissey for.

Celesteela is a bad lead. You should always lead with a very strong offensive Pokemon (M-Kangaskhan, M-Salamence, Dragonite, Tapu Koko etc.) and have the bulkier ones waiting in the back. Also, your Tapu Koko should have been faster than the Charizard so I still don't understand how you lost to it. If you haven't fully EV trained your Pokemon then don't even bother trying to get past 10 victories in the Tree.

So I finally managed to get my old bros on sun and I jumped straight on the tree. I'm trying the super singles with m-alakazam, bewear and turtonator.
95% of the times alakazam kills everything, and the others intervene rarely, and thus far it's going a-ok, but I think there is room for improvement. The one I'm more doubtful about is turtonator (white herb set with overheat, draco meteor, flash cannon, focus blast).
Any suggestion?

Holy fuck I FINALLY cleared super singles in the battle tree.

I know I could have did it much easier even before bank, by using specific combos of pokemon and movesets, but no fuck that. I was determined to use my favorites, my BROS.

Used the following 3 to take down rounds 1-39

Dragonite (without multiscale, caught in leaf green) holing draconium z
Primarina holding assault vest
Mega Charizard Y (special attacker)

Then these 3 for rounds 40-49

Primarina
Mega Charizard Y
Alolan Ninetales holding focus sash

And then for the battle against Red

Mega Charlizard Y
Primarina
Blaziken holding Focus Sash (this blaziken has been with me since the original sapphire version, and is my ribbon whore.)

The battle with Red ended with my Blaziken VS his Mega Charizard X, which was weakened but already had got off 2 dragon dance. if not for the focus sash, it would have destroyed my Blaziken, who then retaliated with BRAVEST BIRD, resulting in a double KO and granting me the victory.

That Blaziken is my most beloved pokemon, and it could not have ended any better than it did.

Infernape was basically revenge killer, clean up killer that was used against any Ice or Steel, Because basically Mimikyu and Chomp could take atleast 2 pokes down by themselves

However I actually lost the streak quickly after the red win, lost to a trick room team of mega Slowbro, brightpowder Gothitelle, and Fridge Rotom

As for Mach Punch on ape, EQ was just a test to see how far it would get me, right now its a toss up between mach punch, Stone Edge, Rock Slide or Shadow Claw. for the 3rd slot. Acrobatics is also being considered but not so much. I guess I've always done Coverage>STAB with pokes but we'll see

Which dragon would be best alongside standard mimikyu in super singles? The way I look at it, salamence hits hard and has some bulk via intimidate, but can't hit bulky steel types with ground immunity. Dragonite has bulk via multiscale and can potentially ohko bulky steel/grass types via inferno overdrive, but can't hit as hard besides that. Charizard x has fire stab, but is the most frail of the bunch.
