The Digimon anime was superior to the Pokémon anime in every way. The problem with Digimon was their merchandise sold like crap because good anime =/= good merchandise. Look at the absolute best anime out there, and look at how it correlates to sales.

Why do you think Naruto and One Piece have survived for so long? It's not because their anime are good (some regard them as two of the worst ever created). It's the sales that matter, and as long as Pokémon sells, the anime is literally a glorified commercial for said merchandise.

Then again one could say that in the case of Naruto and One Piece they're a commercial for the manga which is what they're based on. Bleach's manga kept going even without the anime.

Don't get me wrong. The Pokémon animation did have its great points, like with the movies. The first five movies were absolutely golden.

- Movie 1 had a great backstory with Mewtwo and a climax that started in the anime
- Movie 2 had great music and the much anticipated Lugia climax
- Movie 3 had amazing visuals with incredible animation
- Mewtwo Returns (not an actual movie but treated as such) brought the biggest villain into the scene in a great show
- Movie 4 showed why Oak has such a vested interest in Ash with an amazing twist and great visuals

It's a bit hard to describe. A lot of it is boredom. A lot of it is disdain for how bad these threads have become. As I've stated several times already like a broken record, I've been discussing Pokémon on 4chan since the start of D/P and always enjoyed the sporadic threads on /a/ discussing it. /padt/ pretty much killed all of that. If you make an anime thread on /a/ about the Pokémon anime, your thread is deleted in minutes. If you try to escape /padt/ and make your own breakway thread on /vp/, it will also get deleted (after enough time has passed...). You can try to mask it as a separate thread on the board, but even if you get past the "mod filter," you'll get little discussion because everyone is posting in /padt/, and /vp/ moves just fast enough that the thread will prune overnight if you don't post in it. You can try taking it to another forum, but the communities are different and not nearly as fast as on 4chan, require accounts, and mods will ban you for even slightly negative language.

/padt/ is like a prison. We're all confined to discussing the anime RIGHT HERE and NOWHERE else. This is the cancer of Generals, and you'll never convince me that Generals aren't a bad thing, because they are one of the worst things that has come to this site. I hated Generals long before Generals were even a thing (drawthreads and r/a/dio are two good examples of "Generals before Generals" that everyone hated back then). I'm stuck speaking with the same people day after day about the same stuff since no one wants to discuss anything else other than "muh kissu" and "Lillie will teach that Kanto boy how to kissu ;^)" and "wow sm's animation sucks." et. al.

Amour will never get a general, you and I know that very well. They tried making daily threads, and every time they made a thread, the Tailsposter and other shitposters showed up to drown it in spam. So now they agreed to do weekly threads. The mods may not be cool with an Amour general either. I doubt it'd even get enough traffic to survive as a general. It has a weekly thread now, and that will help at least to some extent.

Amour will still be discussed here to some degree because it was a subplot in the show. Sometimes shitposters will spam it too, but guess what they'll also shitpost totally imaginary ships here like Lillie X Ash. Over time the Amour posting will slowly decline as more XY people move on to other shit. I don't know what more I can say to persuade you in that department. Right now there's a hangover effect from XY ending, but it won't last forever.
