When some one from your own team fills an empty slot, not one that they made, but one that someone else left, with some dumb shit like weedle or one of the baby pokemon.

Sniping, it's still a problem

When people leave jolteon or flareon at the gym. I forgive people for leaving interesting pokemon with decent CP that they may like, but there's no reason to leave any eeveelution other than vaporeon. They're all so common, and flareon and jolteon are some the worst defenders in the game.

People who stack gyms with glass cannons like dragonite.

I'm sick of explaining this every couple of days

-It takes more time and effort to prestige gyms than it does to take them down
-The amount of time good defenders slow down an enemy attacker taking down your gym compared to bad defenders is fairly small because they can just use their outright best mons (attacker dragonites, vaporeons etc.)
-The amount it slows down people trying to prestige is far greater
-In MOST scenarios, your longevity within a gym is not based on how well your individual pokemon defends, but how high up in the gym you are. In many places the gym will undergo many small fights and the lower mons rotate out while the higher mons never even experience a battle until someone does a full battle to take out the whole gym.
-Because of these reasons the most useful mons to put in gyms are mons with high cp, but are still easy to kill. (e.g. rhydon, gyarados, dragonites)

main points:
-you don't want to be the slowest one running from the leopard (so you want high cp)
-enemy teams ALMOST don't care what is in a gym (they'll take it down whether its a poliwrath, snorlax or gyarados very easily if they have a decent lineup which most people do if the game has been out for a while there)
-friendly players care A LOT about what is in a gym when trying to prestige (they want weaker mons to fight against)

basically the game design is busted because it sorts by CP which does not even come close to accurately gauging combat effectiveness
The obvious solution is to stop trying to enforce progressively stronger levels in gyms (because they suck at it) and to allow player freedom by sorting by pokemon level (which would not discriminate between pokemon inaccurately)

(part of) the point is that people are more likely to be enticed to prestige a gym with things like gyarados/rhydon/dragonite when they might ignore a tri-snorlax one, but an attacker will barely bat an eyelid

if your goal is to annoy spoofers on your team (which is reasonable) then the lax's are more useful

but do it enough and they'll just start alt-accounting to knock your mons out and start the gym from scratch.

theres a reddit spoofer that would take gyms down to 1k or whatever he could and leave it like that, and the 3-account spoofer just started knocking that mon out then putting 3 new ones back in

I've been comming here on a daily basis since the very beginning, but never saw anyone mentioning it. I'm playing on Android. A double powerup is when you click the "power up" button with two fingers, and also confirm it with two fingers. I like to keep my fingers apart for both steps. It brings the mon up a whole level, the cost stays the same. You can even go 0.5lvl over the limit this way. Let's say you're lvl33, so you can normally go up as high as 34.5 with your mons. By doing the double powerup on a 34lvl mon, you get it up to 35 instead. To avoid confusion, I try to do only double powerups, so all mons are full-levelled.

getting your mons beyond the actual possible
level against ToS? If I remember correctly
there was an old post about a bug were you could
increase the level of the pokemon you
had as buddy beyond it's limit (i.e. when it said
"your trainer level is too low to power up").

Also, I believe the problem was if you actually
placed a mon in a gym and his CP didn't match
your trainer level because other trainers could
make some calculations and therefore discover your
"cheating" maybe even thinking you're editing your
mons with some sort of third party app to go past
your trainer limit...

TL.DR: If you place those mons in a gym,
other players might report you because your treiner level
(which is visible) and your mon CP don't match.

It's a clumsy way of fighting. Lets say you use a mon you know for sure you can defeat and prestige perfectly against the defender mon. Suddenly the glitch happens and it's impossible to use your mon anymore, therefore you're required to switch out to a new mon you prepared to use for another. It usually messes up the order of the team you use to fight with. You won't get the same good results like you would have if non of the bullshit happened. It appears it "only" lets you power it up once past max, so twice if it's half a level from being maxed.
